Had another hour stripping paint off the L.B, I'm making real progress with 2 sides now white plastic. It's been a really positive experience cutting my teeth on this one. I've also realised from steveu30 Scorcher thread that its good to have another project on the go, so that if a project feels slow going you have an alternative to tinker with. Well done Percymon on your Clod win, we have one which is bog standard but good fun. I've had a couple of cheeky bids this weekend, but I haven't didn't 'win' anything!

I've haven't done anything Tamiya wise for a few weeks but I've just had an hour in the garage trying out some wet and dry body prep for the 1st time. The L.B body stripping is slow going but its a really useful learning process!

Bits and bobs I've been picking up over the last week or two for some Tamiya time over the Christmas break : ) -
Well done T.M and J.W and everyone else involved in this meet. It looks like a really good day out, with a lot of like minded enthusiasts. I will have to haul my backside out next year and get some dirt on my Tamiya and meet some of you peeps in flesh!

Ok, so I sold my Technigold motor, my M38 manual and my Lancia 037 and my 3rd Re Re Sand Scorcher. I now have just enough shelf space to get my Savage X back from my nephew who has been looking after it all Summer.... I reckon 1 or 2 more sales of cars and I'm back in charge for now!
-
I had a garage tidy up and desk clean and I put some more of the kids drawing up for decoration. Sold one of Re Re Sand Scorchers today, so now I'm down to 4 in total, old and new. A R/C buddy is going to take my remaining TA03RS Porsche and 2 more handsets, so I'm now down to 25 cars! And I'm still soaking, scrubbing and removing paint off the L.B shell.....

I got some lights today, 1 front and back set for our L.B and 1 spare set. Nice cheap day today! -
Well the brake fluid has now taken hold on the L.B paint, it is turning out to be a labour of love. Underneath the yellow is white and underneath the white is blue..... Next time I will just buy a new shell as they are £20 delivered and I've spent that on stripping substances! All good experience I keep telling myself... I also put some kit on eBay and I've sold my Technigold which I didn't have a home for. The aim is to just try and be more realistic about how many I can run, restore, etc, etc.

No 3 is fine in my books as well of any R.C model. I've personally found that when I have reached 6 of any one model I start to twitch and then I tend too sell one or two off!

I got in the post today, 1 Blazing Blazer rear cage and replacement vintage tyre. And 2 letter painting pens, 1 gold and 1 white. So I'm going to practise on some old tyres and see how I get on. -

Ceramic grease, cheapest I could find was £4.00 for 3g. My guess is there is a better value alternative to Mr Ts! An A3 self healing craft board for £7 delivered, I couldn't bring myself to pay an extra £11 for the word 'Tamiya' on it! 5 litres of brake fluid for paint stripping. -
Had an hour or so of hobby time last night and I progressed nicely with the Lunchbox refurb. The chassis is all back and ready for ESC, motor and wheels. The body is next on the agenda for action!

Nice thread Percymon, lots of hard work to show case as well and lots of fab results. Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work.

In all fairness this arrived a couple of days ago, but I needed to unpack and check it over. I'll add it to my showroom with some better photos soon. -
Thank you.

Ok, so the gearbox is back together for the L.B. The rec, ESC and motor have all been chosen and tested and are ready to fit. I'm struggling with the paint removal on the body shell, oven cleaner made no difference at all. Caustic soda did nothing to it either, so I'm now trying brake fluid.
-
I spent an hour so cleaning the last parts of our L.B and I've now fitted the new body posts and the steering servo. Rec and ESC are now clean and they will go in next. I've made a start on stripping the paint, I'm going to try the oven cleaner 1st and the caustic soda is the b plan.

Another screw bag for my Lunchbox rebuild and I bought oven cleaner and caustic soda for the big yellow paint stripping session! -
The last set sold for nearly £60 on eBay about a month ago.

Your are right about the 5th shock (was already fitted) and metal body mounts (just bought). The cannon ball run ambulance is a great idea. I saw the perfect roof lights on eBay the other day, but I decided they would get broken off straight away! I am going to put front and back lights in though as a little extra for fun.

Alloy body posts, rubber shield bearings and a screw bag for our L.B refurb. Last of the big spenders me! -
I am quite probably the slowest mover on T.C, but I've finally printed off the manual now and I can hopefully set up the gear change now.
-
I found some time this week to clean the L.B after the strip down and I've order some new parts as well, which have started to arrive. This is how it looks now, probably a very familiar sight to lots of you, but it's a new venture for me! I need to strip and clean the gearbox and the shocks then I will start the reassembly, I printed off the build manual and that's my bedtime book now.

There is no way that Percymon went a day without a bundle of goodies being delivered....poor Percy! There must have been a very heavy snow session up that way would be my guess.
