WOW,WOW,WOW,WOW!!!
-
Up nice and early and with everyone away I had the house to myself this morning! Packed my King Hauler trailer ready to be sent to a fellow T.C member. In the war to regain garage/floor/shelf space I'm still loosing but I've regained some lost ground! I'm concentrating on selling off some of the dozen chargers I've accumulated and some of the over crowding off Tamiya models. Slow, but sure.
-
I removed the stickers from my recent Sand Scorcher purchase as they were stuck on to high and dirt was getting behind the top of the stickers and it looked permanently grubby. Lots of WD40 and elbow grease to remove the residue was needed. I sold 2 chargers on eBay which was always a pleasant surprise, not big money but nice to get the shelf space back.
-
I packed one of Hilux 3 speeds to send to another T.C member today. Trying my best not to buy any other Tamiya......for now!
-
Thanks Gruntfuggly, You are right I should just bite the bullet and enjoy Lipo. I was holding off as I thought I would need to change chargers, battery plugs and fit fail safes if I was to go this route. I'm guessing that 2s will fit most Tamiya with little or no Dremel work, I hadn't realised the lipo batteries were such good value either!
-
That's great info AndyjcClod, exactly what I needed, cheers buddy.

I'm ready to buy new batteries, but I'm not to go lipo yet! The main runners are a L.B, W.W2 and an Xtreme, so nothing too heavy or serious. Ideally I would buy 3 batteries of the same type from the same supplier. All recommendations will be greatly received on battery types and the best place to purchase from. I've bought the cheapest before on eBay and they were completely useless so I'm keen not to make that mistake again!

Sent my last Violet Racer out today to a fellow T.C member who will build it and use.
-
I got out the front today's it's my 6 year old daughter, the WW2 and the Blitzer Beetle. All good.
-
Put my Ranger back together for now it is complete and not going anywhere, but I won't loose any bits and it takes up less space. Sent my spare SS of to Cornwall today. Put my Blackfoot Brat hybrid together again to save space and to stop me loosing any bits of it. I looked at my Hilux in detailed and have decided to sell one of them as having 5 is a bit greedy.

Feeling very pleased with myself today! My Dremel and extras arrived today, I'm dangerously close to actually doing some thing useful with my Tamiya stash. I also got myself a free chair from work for my desk/work bench and its now all set up in my garage. I just need a T.V and a kettle and I could move there permanently. -
Had the day off today and I decided just to please myself for a few hours! I've swept out the garage and set up the desk, which will be my work bench and kinda tidied up the heinous mess of cars, boxes and bits! I've also packed one of my S.Ss today ready to go to another member, so there is some positive movement. That's 2 sold in 2 weeks and nothing bought for nearly 2 weeks. I'm trying to work out which models I would be happy to let go, but its not easy. I genuinely like them all. Sad, but true!

The penny has finally dropped and I've realised I've bought more models than I will ever get round to doing anything with. Stupid really, but too late now. So I've packed off my Volvo Tractor Unit and trailer off to my father in law and my Savage off to my brother in law. Hopefully they will both come back ready to run and in between times I can do something useful myself.

Got a free desk today and I'm going to put into our garage and use it as a bench, just need to get a chair now and we are away. Broke the Pull start on my Nitro Mini, which is shame as it will now have to go to the back of long queue of Tamiya jobs!

Had a quick blast out the front with my new used S.S. It's the first time I've used one and it was faster and more agile than I had expected, which was nice.

I got my latest model purchase today. It arrived upside down In partially opened box..my heart was in my mouth, but it was all ok. So I'm a happy boy! Its a vintage 3 speed Hilux. This will be my last purchase for a while, so its nice to end it on a high note. I'll add it to my showroom soon. -

My latest Scorcher turned up, it's an eBay purchase and a Re Re. Needed fresh handset batteries and new crystals, but it looks to be a good value purchase. Paint job is poor, but that gives me a good excuse to try my hand at painting it. My new Blitzer tyres turned up too, 4 used ones from an old T.C member, good value again. Perfect for me as I'm trying to run this one on a budget. It is now ready to run! -

The Value of your Tamiya's & Rc
Grumpy pants replied to Bigwheels_inc's topic in General discussions
I totally get this, it's a really important part of being a fan, a collector or hobbyist. The value of the individual items in hard cash isn't what it's about for most of us would be my guess. Yes it's nice that some models appreciate in value and have a hard cash value to them if you need some pocket money quickly. It's all about the buying, owning and enjoying the cars individually. They have their own quirks and driving styles, they are usually bringing back memories and generating new ones at the same time. You spend a fair bit of time and money on some of the models, but they give so much pleasure to build, modify, run or just have on a shelf to admire. For example I have a early scorcher that you would have to break my fingers to take from me, I will never run it or sell it. I don't own for investments sake, I just like it and I am proud of it. Other other end of the scale I have a beaten up Xtreme that's now goes on holiday with us...the kids love it, I use as test bed and mule and it gets the hardest use of all our models. It would be worth very little if I were to sell it, but I wouldn't anyway as it has really given us a lot of pleasure and it will continue to do so. I reckon its called 'Tamiyaness!'. -
Taking my newly acquired and cleaned Blitzer out for its 1st run and the car going crazy and then jamming itself under my neighbours 1:1 car. Not a happy bunny, I was really pleased with myself up to that point, now its got broken windows, scuffs and cracked A post. Definitely not my happiest Tamiya moment to date!
-
I actually had 3 hours play time all to myself today. The garage floor is awash with partly disassembled cars, so I put the Xtreme back together and the Blizter. Very happy, fixed a buddies Brat for him and then I started to reassemble my Scorcher and Ranger. Fingers crossed for an hour tomorrow to try out my new arrival a second hand nitro Mini.

My nitro Mini arrived today, purple and it looks promising. Fingers crossed its not a stinker and runs, hopefully will get to pay tomorrow! -
Thanks Kev, I'm sure some of the questions sound a bit daft! But did a forum search and struck out.

I have some shocks in my spares box I'm keen to use. Do you measure them from eye to eye, Or otherwise? Thanks for looking.
