  1. Looking good there, now get this beast running
  2. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Miatas ARE RWD, how could Tamiya do that to us???? Great to know it can be done right. On that Trans Am, I have an extra nose here too, from another guy on TC, he stated you could make Jello with it, I have given it a thought once or twice. LOL On the wheels choice, I am thinking the 2 piece BBS style Tamiya wheel would do you great for the width as it is adjustable and adds some more Tamiya to the build Part number 50549 AND they make a two piece 5 spoke wheel too, in white, so it could work too Part number 50673 and Tower showed those in stock today. HPI made a wheel that mimicked the "turbo" wheel on the later Trans Ams, don't know if they were in M chassis size only or not. Of course I am not getting any hits on ebay on that wheel right now and so I can't point you into any direction on that, but it does remind me that there are the HPI VINTAGE wheels that require the VINTAGE rubber tires to mimick a thicker sidewall. They copied the design of the old American Racing Torq Thrust wheels quite well.
  3. Did I miss a step, this is a lexan body, so silver would go on last, unless of course you will be painting it on the OUTSIDE????? Very cool idea you have working here though LOOKS "FLASH"Y to me. Nice job I had seen them too, struck out today on an eBay search to find them, seems the words CCHand shows up commonly with hyperdetailed parts for crawling and Tamiya trucks, but I didn't find the handles you would want. I sure hope you find the radio, don't know if I have any extras these days as my entire collection is absolutely rubbish for organized. I have been playing Hot Wheels too much recently. Nice work cleaning it up though. A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH, nice work there and I hope the fun begins soon with the kids driving them about Same here buddy, been too much to catch up on for me as well, a bit overwhelming and it doesn't help me that PhotoSCUMBucket isn't working as it ought to. I haven't gotten enough time on the home computer unit to work with Flickr, heck, since this iPad has come into my life, my digital camera hasn't seen the light of day in ages. I hope the batteries aren't perished.
  4. Thanks, that looks nice, old Futaba ripmax gear and what a surprise, 6 channel RX. You can peel that blue plastic off as it was just a protective film from ages ago, I bet it will make the RX look fantastic. Of course if you don’t want to keep the Futaba gear, I would love it 😊
  5. LETS SEE that Futaba gear please, perhaps I can get you anything missing. I do need to find my chrome pen and try it out soon.
  6. Oh, I just saw that, blast these old eyes of mine. I had to go buy an “old man’s”visor style magnifier for working on the small stuff. I too hope you see one soon enough, it seems that distribution is confusing at best for the year 2017 and I don’t know if it will improve soon or not. It doesn’t help that I think there is literally only one, maybe two HCT per case of 72 cars!!!?
  7. You got a good one, I have seen about 30 of them so far since Christmas when I found my first one. They(HotWheels) didn’t do the greatest of QC in the decal dept as the strioes and the number 5 don’t always look so lined up. I have already done a custom one to mimic more the Tamiya HCT. it’s over at Instagram and I don’t know how to iPad and photo upload to the forums atm.
  8. Oh boy, I get to say it first, tires on wrong way round. 😆
  9. Looks great, I vote for putting vinyl on the bed of the truck to help the paint look better. You need all those msc’s?? Sure looks like a bunch of them.
  10. LOOKING GREAT Steve, too bad you flew down last year, THIS year if you drive down, I have a whole rack of Tamiya TS you can cherry pick for projects, better yet, perhaps I should just make an excuse to bring them up to ya> I have to say, that is a nice color, but for me, not the right year Nova, I am not a shoebox fan, but rather '68-'74 era, but to each their own. Great, now you got me thinking, tell ya what, YOU order them, and send me half since 50 sounds like an awful lot. You live and learn, I think that is why some auctions on ebay have the running chassis and then nearly enough parts trees to build another car, all because of racing spares.
  11. Why didnt I think of sidewalk chalk and soccer cones together, I only used the cones and sorta forgot the way I was supposed to drive around them or made it up as I went, now I can use the chalk and enjoy driving more versus thinking more. Lol
  12. Are you going to back it in silver, white, or black? It changes the “depth” of the color on the shell.
  13. Needs a big engine hanging out the back.
  14. Looks interesting a Top Force colored LandFreeder. Are those tires the NO NAME SIDEWALL Mud tires, similar in tread to the BFGoodrich sidewall marked tires?? I might have to note that part number for future purchases as if the Landfreeder's tires are the same as other CC01, they could be lacking in the traction department on surfaces other than tarmac. I can't say I am in love with the TA01/02 chassis Hummer tires much either.
  15. Sure hope you kept the box, it is the HotShot H.P. Suspension Set from 1986 Kit/Part number 5276. I bought one BITD to add to my HotShot and yes, it is the equivelent yellow CVA shock parts used with the SuperShot, but then there were a few extra bits in there in order to put independent suspenion onto the HotShot which the Boomer already had. I found a box over the years on eBay and I have tried to slowly add all the bits back to it, the hardest parts to find are the FRP bits that relocated the heat sinks to allow for the SShot's rear shock mount, also made of FRP.
  16. Well at least you have kept me from making the same mistake, been wondering what might happen if I used that stuff. I would try an ultrasonic cleaner, so a trip to Harbor Freight is in your future. Lol, you are welcome.
  17. Sorry, added a letter or two, THIS is what product I was talking about since I don't know of them making a graffiti remover available to me in the USA, hope this clears things up. http://www.jetglues.com/images/products/de-solv.shtml
  18. Don't know about your stockists, but here in the USA, I found that Jet brand DESOLVIT is a very good, but pricy glue killer. It is engineered for CA type glue, but could work on some of that stuff in there. Good luck.
  19. Mongoose had stripped some paint from a bodyshell by soaking a towel(paper or cloth I guess) in the solution he was using, so put some IPA on that rag, then drape that into the body and I guess he also added some clingwrap or plastic wrap from the kitchen to perhaps not let it evaporate so quickly??
  20. Seems you might want to ask SubaruBratJunkie if he happens to have any parts to spare for these oddball cars he seems to have a few of.
  21. I would blame that color thing on the "bean counters" I crack myself up sometimes.
  22. REALLY nice looking job there, I can commiserate with you on those stupid small and skinny decals, the Honda CR-X was full of them!!!! I would have taken it in a heartbeat. I of course would figure out if there was someone there to ask permission to remove such "trash" but I can't see a high value placed on cardboard vs aluminum, so if I didn't find a person to ask, I would have taken it.
  23. Well, that is good news indeed that you are ready for the cost. There might be reproduced tires on eBay, but i don’t have one of these things, so this site and tamiyablog and tamiyabase ought to help you out with parts and images and such.
  24. Plenty of knowledge here on TC, but getting it out into the ether seems more and more impossible. That sure looks like it will be a costly restoration, but these old ones almost always are. The wheels alone could fetch half the eBay price, so not too poorly bought, that is if the wheels haven’t cracked up over the years and miles it has covered. I sure wish I could get a trip to this guy’s grandmas house. Time for you to get yourself down to the Harbor Freight tool shop and buy an ultrasonic cleaner.
  25. Funny you mention this. In my past, racing the HotShot was what I wanted to do, there was an outdoor track that disolved before I could get there(old enough to drive myself there) and another that was too organized(had to be a member or the national RC organization to drive there) and finally an indoor oval track that I could have a go at it. Well, since I was a novice, I started in that class of mash up cars and drivers and as I became a bit better than the children in the heat, well I looked into STOCK class, problem was there weren't enough racers to break out a full Stock 4WD heat, so I had to either get a mod motor and try my luck, or go into STOCK 2WD, that meant I had to get another car altogether which I couldn't afford or they would allow me to pull the driveshaft out of my HotShot to compete. I did exactly that, pulled the prop shaft, left the geared diff and dogbones up front(as best as I can rememeber) and I bought a Thorp Ball diff for the rear gearbox. That being said, I can say the car had a distinct amount of jump off the line with the ball diff in it mated to the engine versus the gear diff with the normal greases I was using back then, so, I think you will find it has more punch on the line and a bit more predictable traction versus the gear diff, I imagine how the muscle car guys had with positraction versus the normal rear ends in the rear wd cars of the 60s and 70s. My two cents, I am going for a set, but secretly, might just install the rear diff and leave the front alone and see if I can tell any differences, trouble is, I better stock up on gearboxes as well as get a car or two running first.
