To answer your question regarding the bearings in a Manta Ray versus any other chassis. Well that is the beauty of Tamiya's early 90s models. They continued to use the same 5X8 and 5X11 bearings sizes that had been used for 10 years prior. So you can pretty much pick up a load of 5X11 and some 5X8 bearings anywhere. You can also get lucky on ebay and find some bearing sets for other cars and use the bearings, you just may not get a full set for the Manta, but if you win or buy a couple of other car's sets, you can make a full set for the Manta and have some spares for the wheel hubs when they need changing or cleaning. Good luck, I have won some bearing sets and I have a bunch of the bearings laying around waiting for the next project to be disassembled and cleaned and then put back together fully ball raced as the British put it. [8D] Enjoy the fun.

Wanted: Madcap rear body mounts, new or used
Crash Cramer replied to Snake Plissken's topic in Trade Archive
Wow, you are farrrrrrr Away. I do think "kendalboatsman" has those mounts you need. I too have some, but I am in the USA and shipping could be more, I don't know. I don't mind sending them your way after the Christmas rush that is. I too am looking for the same screw, however I want a some NEW ones. I may have a used one here, but I will have to check. -
I need to find an inventive recycler amongst us here at the TC site. Just send your resume and let me know if you truly have a use for an assortment of bits and bobs. I can make a full list when I get some serious replies. I must ask that you be a full member so I might see your showroom in order to think about possible trades. Thank you for your replies.

I have a bunch of bits and bobs around the house and need to find the most inventive TC member. I have some servo arms and metal bag parts that need to leave. I would list these on the showroom, but Chris would yell at me for loading up the picture host space. Anyway, I can list it out and trade or send to the appropriate TC member. You must be a TC member with a showroom I can look at so I may see if there is a possible trade for all this junk, I mean stuff. Thanks for your reply.

I am having some interest here. What about that list??? I am in Texas, don't think the shipping would be all that bad. If you could let me know that would be helpful. Thanks

Anyone have a useable lower chassis(not cracked) for the FOX??? I really need one to even build my car. Thanks for looking everyone.

Bearings,Bearings,Bearings!!!!!! This is such a sticky subject. I have recently paid the aforementioned $5.00 each for FOUR bearings. I bought it from an old school hobby shop and he wanted what he paid for them way back when. The set was a complete hopup set made by Tamiya for the HotShot way back when. I wanted the packaging soooooo badly and the 5X8 bearings aren't seen everyday, so I went ahead and bought them. When it came to my Astute build, I found a pack of new oilite brass colored bushings, so that is what is in it. I am building a runner and will probably use the leftover oilite bushings for it. I think that whatever you buy in this life, you ALWAYS get what you pay for. In this hobby, the more middlemen you deal with, the more the markup. I will admit that my theory on trade parts is to pass on the same savings or the same markup that I experienced when I went to a hobby shop and "got lucky" to my fellow TamiyaClub members. I will say, thus far it has been working, but I am finding some parts hard to get off my hands, so I will post the slow moving parts into eBay. I, of course, will use past paid or "market" prices to help influence my eBay prices. Clive, I too would be a little hurt by this type of reply to a post, but I can see the other member's point as well. I think I would have exercised some different tact in posting who has good prices on bearings or parts or whatever. I think this is what a club is all about, sharing ideas and finds and needed information.

Do you mind if I ask, What are you wanting to trade for??? I could use the motor mount I think. I am not too much into my TA04 yet as there is no close race track here in Houston and I am betting I will only get decent traction with some foam tires. Any suggestions???? Thanks

I just wanted to throw in my information. The A parts tree is the same for the Astute, MadCap, Saint Dragon AND KING CAB. IF that helps you to locate more parts from eBay, I thought you should know. Best of luck, the A parts were not molded in a flexible plastic and have a problem at times of cracking when not wanted. I wish Tamiya would have made some better plastic for them.

Read this again today, been VERY busy. I didn't know you had replied, must be system errors. Anyway, if you still want to trade I can do so. Thanks and drop me a line at "cub_71@hotmail.com" from your email server. Cheers, Chris

I have read your plight and will offer my services. The Tamiya USA direct phone line answered my question. Yes, you can buy a NEW manual for $5 USD shipped to the USA ONLY. I can then forward that on to you in Canada for a couple of bucks more. Your PayPal offer of $10 would cover the whole thing. I guess what I might suggest to you is to take advantage of this order opportunity and order some HopUp parts. Go to TamiyaUSA.com and find all the parts they are selling for the car and if you can call them their number is 1-800-TAMIYA-A and tell them you live in the states at TEXAS zip code 77429. Then ask them how much they want with shipping to that zip for all the stuff you want then tell me and then we can go from there. I hope this helps, it sounds like shocks might be the first and best upgrade, but I don't know what you have in mind for the driving conditions. Drop me a line at "cub_71@hotmail.com" and we can talk some more.

That's no real way to store a Tamiya R/C kit. The key here is to enjoy running it. You have a nice solid 4WD kit there that with a good runner body would be very enjoyable and keep a lot of its value (IMHO). The body on any of these cars is the main selling point. If it is in bad condition, you are selling a rolling chassis with some painted mass on top of it[8)], but if you are selling a used chassis with a nicely painted, seldom used body, you are bound to get a decent bit of $$ for it. As far as the upgrades, I agree, the prop shaft isn't cheaper than $30USD[] when you find it on the bay. Go out and enjoy it or keep looking for the Willy and practice your driving with the s10.[]

I am after a Screw Bag B for my New Build MadCap. I beleive the Saint Dragon B screw bag is the same. I only really have to have BB2 and BB5. Please let me know if you can help. I have a ton of older loose screws so maybe we can trade. I just have screws that are too old, not good for cars made in late 80's. Have a look at my pics in my showroom and drop me a line. Thanks, Chris Booth

Help me identify part - Manta Ray Ball Joint
Crash Cramer replied to wilma's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
If you are serious about running this nice looking Manta, I would also suggest you use Airplane ballcups. They are screw through type and they hold up a lot better to abuse especially from 4WD front ends. I have used them in my MadCap and they don't pop off like the 3mm ball cups do because they are screwed through. What you do is thread a part onto the end of the steering rod and then you pop a brass type ball through it and then you screw a machine screw through all that into a nut in the steering arm/axle. If you need a pic of what I mean, email me. Good luck. -
Okay, I measured the Super Blackfoot drive bones and a spare set of MadCap bones I have laying around. They are both the same length. I have noticed that this club's parts crossover shows that MadCap bones will work on the Bush Devil, so what are you waiting on??? Give me a note and I shall get these on the way.
-
What about Super Blackfoot driveshafts??? I have a set NIP. Do they fit as well? They are 63mm from crosspin to crosspin. I have a set of gears for you as well. I can throw those in as noone is biting on them. I may still have a set of rear axles(outdrives that go in the hub), but I should check as I needed a set for my Super Blackfoot. Just drop me a line okay? "cub_71@hotmail.com" Crash Cramer aka Chris Booth USA

Hello all, I was just poking around on eBay and found some weird driver figures. I searched using the words "Tamiya Fox" and also searched the descriptions and all. Anyway a seller by the name of "karpy4" in the USA has some drivers that are Tamiya and some Lexan drivers that are not that I can tell. I don't know what the Lexan drivere go to, can anyone help solve this mystery??? Maybe someone here even needs them, I don't know, just thought I would throw it out there. Auction ends OCT 10. Cheers,

Tamiyaclub Community Build Car! UPDATE! Page 6
Crash Cramer replied to netsmithUK's topic in Tamiyaclub News
Just reread this thread. I didn't notice the bit about the wooden box. I might like to tackle that part of the project. I am here in the states in Texas, so I can get the box to Florida(if he hasn't washed away) to send the whole kit and caboodle back to the UK for finishing touches. I would need some ideas on the type of wood and also very exacting measurements on the size. I don't own any SRBs so I don't have any ideas on the size. If you all have some input and pics of the Merc for reasearch, then send them my way. Hey Chris, how about an update??????
