  1. Well I am not in the UK, but I do have two New tires. They are no longer in the package as I wanted to see them on some King Cab wheels I had laying around. If noone else emails you on this, drop me a line.
  2. I know what you mean on the lonely part. I used to live in Cleveland and still have some buddies up there. They aren't into rc cars though. I live in Texas now, and according to the TC "map" I am the only one. The nearest member lives in Oklahoma, a good eight hour drive away!!!! Oh,Well, I can spread the word and hope some people come out of hiding, maybe some three speeds too, for next to nothing. I am dreaming, but something to look forward to.
  3. I can recall another such club that the English had a little more passion for than some like clubs in the USA. My brother was a member of a Texas chapter and had the chance to go to the UK and visit their club. He did so and was impressed at the UK's members passion and strong opinions concerning their cars and the correctness of such etc. Beleive it or not that club.........the one with some more dedicated UK members than US members.....That club was a Corvette club!!!!! Now take that and stuff it in your hat.
  4. I need some help finding out more info and the investment on older chassis buggys. I know that one is almost gone, it has FS on the back plate, so I know it is Tamiya, but which one??? It has f150 rear tires it looks like and then there isn't much more than the rear. The other looks like it is more there. I would say it looks more like a SS or super champ, but again I don't know much about the metal kits. Anyway, regardless of the car/chassis, should I drop $80 on one and a half chassis and try to get you guys some runner parts, or should I just let it go and not worry myself about it??? I mean, one day I might want to rebuild a classic, but they seem so astronomical to restore, even to a running state as some of the parts just keep going up on ebay price wise. I would like to think that a new body would require a small business loan and then for what??? To run, I think not, If I were able to get a used body to run, then what. I generally break things driving and then I would be back to square one. I really enjoy this hobby, I even more so enjoy building these models, but the expense of breaking something and disabling my work seems to bring me back to the real world where my money is limited and my resources in the states seem very thin. Well, I can't figure out how to put the stupid pics on this forum page, so email me with your opinion and querys and then let me know what you think. I only have a few more days before the seller resorts to other means of sale, so make my mind up for me quick guys. Thanks again.
  5. I agree, I think we need to finish this project. I think it could do a great bit of PR over here in the States where the membership is spread out. I don't know how we could do it, but we could somehow make sure the project car shows up at EVERY TCS race in the states. I know that we could ask all the R/C publications to run a pic series on the car to also boost some USA membership. I am just being selfish, but I am tired of the sweeping under the mat that Tamiya gets here in Texas and would love for something big to happen in my state as far as TC membership and Tamiya enthusiests go. I also thought the other night, why not begin thinking of the next club project. I thought building as a club the first Plastic car Tamiya made would be a cool idea. I am sure there are plenty of donators for that car out there. I guess it would be a good thing if we all could agree which car Tamiya made first that was totally plastic chassis et al. I haven't researched it that much, but I could guess that it would the the Wild Willy. Please someone let me know if I am close or not on that guess.
  6. Can anybody help me out with a NEW set of HotShot F parts. Old part number is X9006. They are the front arms. I can pay via paypal or have a look at my showroom as I can trade parts. Thanks.
  7. Wow, I wish I had bought that NEW build with body for $99 last year. Late last year I got both of my Astutes. The first one was camoflaged as a MadCap, what a surprise. The second was an eBay auction that was over, yet I caught the guy before he relisted and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Both of these cars were raced hard. One had the aforementioned MadCap body and the other had a yellow Astute body. I did find sealed Tamiya bearings in one, but only the common sizes. Would you beleive that Tamiya sold BB for the little brass bearings. I think you could buy another Astute kit for the price of those bearings as there are like 36 of them. Anyway, I am finding it a little dificult in the states to get parts. The Cparts(C2)rear hub carrier on heavily raced cars is ALWAYS broken. I have found that most other parts held up to the task. I have a magazine review and article about a Champion Astute driven by someone in 1990. The article details the pitfalls on the car and some upgrades to make to help with the breakable parts. Email me and I can send you some scans or I can snail mail you some copies. Best of luck and if you find some room, keep them on the shelf.
  8. Well, you guys had me going. I went out to the shed to look for extra set plates and plastic spacer and I couldn't come up with any. I did finally locate mine for the project that never ends, but I wanted to help you out a little.I am sorry to report, none extra right now. I just thought I would let you know that the set plates are rather important in getting the exact spacing on the pinions, this is critical in racing/running trust me. Second, the set plates are almost always in the Window net bag. There were plenty lost before and the window net bag isn't too expensive especially considering the circumstances. I thought that would be a bit of info to help on the ebay front and search. Don't give up on the TC site, keep buggin HotShot and and shot owners for the set plates, they will turn up. I also wanted to add my two cents worth on the wheels. They cost $15USD in 1990 and if you factor in the inflation, supply and demand, ebay fees and misc pain and suffering, I would suppose $40USD isn't bad. If I were you, check with "Auctions!"(seller name) out of Chicago IL or here on the TC site. They almost always came without tires and if you have the tires that is alright, if you need the tires and the same seller has the tires and wheels, maybe they will cut you a deal. I have never regreted asking an eBay seller off auction a question regarding how many more of an item they have and stating that I am also looking for... related to the same item. I have been fortunate to have gotten great deals from those type of questions/requests. I would caution that you don't make it obvious you are trying to skirt the auction as big brother Ebay may figure something out about it. Well for what it is worth, that is my opinion and advice. I can also tell you to stock up on front wishbones(F parts on HotShot) as my new build project's arms cracked clean through JUST SITTING IN STORAGE. ARRRRGGG. If you have a set, please let me know, I only have a spare gearbox tree right now, but more may surface for other cars. You can always check my showroom. Best of luck
  9. Hello, I just thought I would throw my two cents worth in here. I have an older part number for you if it helps you locate it on Ebay searches and in the TC website. That old part number is: X10318 and it is the same gearbox parts for the Astute, MadCap, King Cab and finally the Hi-Lux(58086). So I hope that helps, I don't have any full new trees I have an extra gearbox part, which part or parts do you need. I can tell you from experience, the triangular part that covers the diff gear ALWAYS seems to find a way to crack under the pressure.[] Well, cheers on finding those parts, I will let you know if I find any this weekend at the LHS.
  10. I am looking for Astute Rear tires(53040) and MadCap front tires(53048). I am also looking for SuperShot Rear tires(50271). I only need one pair of each. I am in the states so please lets get them all combined somewhere before shipping if overseas. I don't have much now to trade, cash always with paypal, but I do have a full set new of RR,SS,Blazer shocks(SP118) and a couple of parts for Willy. Thanks crash
  11. My opinion? I think if someone is buying and then begging to use PayPal to purchase, you can add the 4% fee and not worry. It can be added in the nonspecific area for services, etc. If someone can't read how YOU want payment to be made and then imply that they want to pay you THEIR way, you should say "I will take your money under these conditions" add 4%. I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth. Normally, if someone receives a very well packed with care item, the extra charge just seems to disappear, kill 'em with kindness.
  12. I too can empathize. I paid for Priority mail here in the states which should take no more than 3 business days. The item came from Virginia to get to Texas. Well, I sent some emails to the sender of concern and he tells me to "just wait" and as Spring Break comes up, I am thinking, OH great, a college student who figured out how to make some quick cash. I thought he sold me a car that didn't exist to have some party money for spring break somewhere. Well after 12 days, it shows up just after I sent a slightly nasty accusing email to the sender. He offered in his response to send my money back if it didn't show up in four more days. I had to eat a big helping of crow that day when I sent him another email apologizing. I do not like things you cannot track, but I don't have the money to afford things like FEDEX either. I guess we will all take our lumps and then figure out who is scamming and who is a real good dealer.
  13. Hello everybody. I wanted to put a call out for some 4 mm washers. I have had to shim some of my shocks and the only thing that is working is the 4 mm washers. The only problem is that leaves me none for the wheels when I put the 4 mm nuts on. If someone has a bunch of 4 mm washers, even used, could you get in contact with me and we can settle on a price. Thank you all for your reply. I think it goes without saying that it would be a better thing if whoever has the washers were in the states to keep the postage to a bare minimum. crash
  14. Hey that's great. I don't religoulsy go to the Tower site because it is so dificult to navigate for some parts. I will go back and find out about some shocks for myself.[8D]
  15. I too think it would be cool. It would finally give me something I could give my dad. He was the first one to give me my first r/c car(some Radio Shack Jeep with a dinky trailer to pull around)It had a wire attached!!!!! He was also instrumental in letting me find and get my first HotShot which was my first Tamiya. He always wanted to buy himself a 2002, but you know, got married and had kids and such. He did have a VW bug when he got married to my mom, and then I came along, the second kid and he was force to buy the dreaded station wagon!!!!! He did buy a type III, so I guess that was a cool choice. Anyway, I could finally get him interested in the cars I love if there were a 2002 BMW to give him to drive around. Let's start a petition to the powers that be at Tamiya and get some fire started about the 2002 on the M04L chassis, so i can race my dad with my s2000!! []
  16. I have a Manta Ray and now have the body for a Dirt Thrasher to add to a rolling chassis Ray I bought. If you need parts, go to Tower Hobbies.com and check under your car number and also car number 58087(Manta Ray). I can tell you from some of my experience that the parts you should go ahead and buy are the red front uprights for sure. I suggest to buy the rear uprights after a while of running as they could wear depending on the type of driving you and your son will do. I have noticed on the used and abused roller I bought that the chassis is suspect to some damage if involved in a bunch of rough driving. I had a spare, so it didn't bother me much. I would suggest having a spare chassis since it is the first thing to get scratched up anyway. More importantly, don't go and monkey tight the screws into the chassis or any of the harder type plastic on any Tamiya car kits. It has been my experience that the most common thing amatuers do is to screw the screws into the plastic til it stops turning and that only weakens the plastic. Just get it nice and snug and if you run the car a bunch, better buy some Tamiya brand locking thread glue. Most of all, enjoy the car. The beauty about the starter cars is the fact that they didn't cost an arm and a leg to begin with and when it is worn out after a bunch of use, it is time to get something new and hopefully improved. That is what I did in the case of my HotShot, I upgraded to the Manta Ray. I did get all the parts to restore my HotShot, but boy did I have a blast racing it indoor dirt ovals. Crash
  17. Those numbers are actually good numbers. Since they came out over 10 years ago, these numbers and shocks are a bit harder to find, but I have seen them on eBay and Tower is actually planning on releasing soon the Hi Cap dampers. Last visit told me that they were on the way. You could try typing in the number on eBay search or search for CVA dampers. I had a bit of luck doing that and have enough old yellow shocks to keep me out of trouble for a while. Good luck[]
  18. I have four Wild One chassis I need to rid myself of. All are NIP and mint. I would like $25 USD each. I am in the states so I hope that doesn't scare too many of you away from buying. I am open to trades, yet don't need too much as of late. Thank you for your attention. crash
  19. I think I have a selfish, simple approach to the other driver bit. I have cars that I can safely in my conscience let other people drive and I have cars that no way anyone but the Tamiya Champion is going to drive. I don't have any problems telling people how it is with my cars and I don't let their whining and temper tantrums get the better of me.[] I think a runner is just that, a runner. If it has scratches and stuff on the bottom it is seasoned and I would like to think I will have the extra parts laying about to repair just about any kind of damage. In some cases, I have enough parts to build three cars, but only decide to build one runner and have the other parts around for spares. I do the same when it comes to the body shells. Thankfully aquiring extra parts for the last 14 years has paid off and I have some serious dogs for bodies. I know that I don't drive that well and I just want to have fun. If someone else is going to drive, expect to go home with a broken car or something that needs attention before driving it again. [8)]I expect that I would break something too and then I am not mad at that person for being the one behind the wheel when it crashed. I can be forgiving when I let people drive the cars I don't mind abusing. I just want to have fun and if letting someone drive your car makes them want a car and go buy one, well then that is good for the hobby and good for you to race against them when they drive with you. END OF LINE.[]
  20. Hope this would count, but I would love to scratch build a 1/4 scale HotShot complete with gold wheels. That would be a great thing to take to the beach and tear it up. I can think of a local soccar field, but I am afraid I would be banned for life from the type of driving I want to do.[)]
  21. Does anyone have a new or GENTLY run rear Astute tire. I want to say that this tire may also have been used on the Egress as the cars came out around the same time. I received a single tire in an auction and need it's mate. I think it was a bit like the clothes dryer and the sock issue. Anyway, the tire is marked "Gripper" of course and has the numbers 51-80-40-01 on the sidewall. I am still computer illeterate enough to not know how to post a pic link here, but I will email all parties replying to my email box a very good picture. Thanks to all that can help. crash
  22. Thanks for the info on the pics and the input on the part. I am only assuming that the SRB you refer to is the "Special Racing Buggy"??!! I have only a decent working knowledge of the cars from the HotShot era since that was when I dove in head first into Tamiya's wonderful cars. Is anybody in need of this part?? Maybe the project car for the TC site needs it!

  24. Mr Psy, please don't forget to replace the fuse in your airbag,, CAREFULLY.
  25. I don't know how you all treat the mini cars, but I have wanted one to go with all my 1/10 scale "big Brothers". I am still looking for the Astute and Saint Dragon minis. I have a non painted Wild Willy Jr. for consideration in trade. If you have one, preferably the St. Dragon as the fate of my Astute is still up in the air, please email me with a price/offer.
