    That looks great, and poly don't stick to kaka does it??? LOL I like where you are going with that and I think you need a small 3D printer in that corner, perhaps the one from Dremel??? They are going to get cheap enough in another decade to have them in your own home you know.

    Alright, here goes,


    As with the VINTAGE BOOMER, the single dogbone configureation used the same length as the REAR dogbones from the SuperShot, just cross checked the RE RE HotShot with the RE RE BOOMER and both wheel axle and gearbox joint part numbers were the same, so with that VINTAGE info added to the new part numbers, I am going to go with once again the REAR dogbone length is at all four corners of the re re BOOMER and YES the dogbone diameter at the bone ends will be the same as the HotShot re re, I think it is near 8mm and the more common "modern" size is 6mm?? You would know better on that with your measuring thingys and such.

     

    It still baffles me just WHERE Tamiya was able to keep the INCREASED length dogbone up front and not have binding occur, but I am no engineer, I just pay attention to details and measure things and look at them side by side.


    Hope that helps out more, I WANT 3 sets of these things please.

    I do NOT want to be a fly in the ointment here on this list, but here is my two cents worth. According to my old MRC parts purchasing guide, ALL these VINTAGE models used the exact same G parts tree, the GEARBOX tree:

    58047 HotShot

    58054 SuperShot

    58055 Boomerang

    58057 BigWig

    58062 HotShot II

    58066 Super Sabre

     

    With that being said, we all know some of the woes and issues that happened when first these gear box trees were REISSUED, there was something going on with the use of the OLD INTERNALS in the new boxes, something perhaps akin to the issue of using the tiny old C clips where the reissues were using LARGER E clips to hold the output shafts onto the gearbox.

    NOW, since this ball diff will REQUIRE modification, you would need to be a bit mad or daft to go and hack up a vintage G tree when a re re model G tree can easily be had, PLUS the obvious stated fact that you ALSO NEED the dogbones from the RE RE cars to mate up to this ball diff, so it is only making more sense that this mod is to be entertained with folks that have put RE RE parts to use on their running cars.

     

    Moving forward from that, it is my opinion that since the G tree is the shared part to make this MIP diff work, I would say that ANY CAR using the G tree from the RE RE HotShot and other cars forward would be obvious choices to receive the upgrade and with the knowledge that you WILL have to make modifications. I personally look forward to taking this project on when I get one or two sets, and at the suggested price point for 2, yes TWO ball diffs, I will be a happy camper.

     

    Since some folks may not pay attention to Tamiya's unique way of slightly renaming their reissued cars, of course all here reading are allowed to lump on the kit numbers and names of the cars they have found use the same G tree part, but I will attempt to fill in the names only as I can't be spending more time digging up the part numbers past the original 100( wink wink, lol)

    I think a person ought to know there is to be a little bit of fettling to get the perfect set up with toe in, toe out, bump steer, camber, etc when installing these into the front gearbox of these cars as they all have a little bit different behavior amongst them, but with some luck, it won't be enough fettling to want to pull ones hair out.

     

    Hope I helped shine a little more light on where these ball diffs can be applied and on a small side note, I REALLY really hope that MIP squashes future plans on the Blackfoot line based solely on the outcome of this order on the HotShot series car because I think there is a bit of a difference between the popularity of these two vehicles and there has ALWAYS been a different amount of popularity between TWO DIFFERENT style of vehicles produced originally around the same time. Back in the 80's I would say price alone made up the popularity difference and well, lets face it, folks like trucks that they can run around in their yard that they just might see in real life, so the Ford truck would have many more fans than a semi fictional dune buggy that one wouldn't see on the streets and maybe not even on TV.

    I would be pretty happy to get one of those. I would like to find an affordable bodyset at least, seems they are not out there very cheap at all. This set of photos does remind me of the latest color Hot Wheels has thrown on the same car this year, but they chose to use Matte finish. Nice work

    So I did some work on the aquarium/air pump tonight.  First, a little adhesive felt to wrap around the motor...

    Then, some scrap aluminum bent to form a bracket...

    And there we go; the pump is now wedged in the chassis tub and clamped down with the bracket.  The self-adhesive felt cushions the pump so there isn't any chattering while it runs.  There was a spare screw boss molded into the tub, so I took full advantage of it.

    Heat shrink added for protection, and the wire ends tinned for later...

    Pump, resistors, and wiring installed.  I did a quick test with a LiPo battery and it ran the correct speed with no rattling in the chassis.  So far so good.

    Am I being too picky or is one of those resistors turned around backwards or does it matter with those type??? I think my only electronics lesson was the fact that LEDs don't just go on anyway you like them, there is an anode and cathode(I think that is what they are called) and you have to get the right end on the right polarity to get any result and hopefully you haven't applied too much voltage to the said LED or it blew up when you got it wrong. LOL


    MASTERFUL work with the micro electronics work, but I do wonder if those 3 resistors won't get a little hot under the collar and end up melting the neigbor wire then the heatshrink before long??? I guess it might depend on how long you run the smoker motor.


    VERY cool work and I should have made a point to come visit a few weeks ago when I went to Ft Myers to visit my brother and father. Next trip for sure if you will have me over.

    I figured it would need some cleaning. But looking closer, I'm not sure how sound the chassis is. The body is a replacement Parma, but the body was sprayed with non-lexan paint. Kind of regretting the purchase now, but I'll do some disassembly and see what I can figure out. It came with a Futaba ESC MC112B, not sure whether it works or whether I care. Maybe I'll just part it out. Ugh.

    I didn’t realize that Parma made a hilux racer body. Looking good there and perhaps some of Pinto Power’s replacements and improvements he makes in 3D print on shape ways as Ampro. Hope the rebuild goes well and I have some spares for this chassis that I can help out with.

    I don't know if Jason was being sarcastic here, but along with Prescient's comment, that is how I used to post everything I had for sale, the main page and showroom. The photo uploading was/is the easiest. After the Photo Sucket fiasco, I am still burned on how to post up photos in the forum and perhaps I will figure out another host, but right now I am doing my upmost to organize my garage so that again I can post up my for sale bits, but this time I will try more in the forums too. It has almost always been easier to sorta search the site for what people were looking out for and if I had it, I could contact them and see if a sale would happen, only BIG trouble then and more NOWADAYS is the stupid shipping from the USA to the other side of the world.

    This was the missing piece from my TA03R Avex Dome Mugen NSX kit which I was going to build. 

    Sadly he only had one in the TRF chassis black not the kit default grey. However so that I could match he also found me a B parts spree. 

    The chance of finding one years after he has held stock was slim, both was.....

    A very lucky find indeed I believe. If the old TC member THe Super were still on the page, I bet he has a ton of TA03 bits, if indeed he kept the cars, I met up with him ages ago when I still lived in San Antonio and he adored the TA03 Chassis.

    CAREFUL WITH THOSE EAGLE TIRES I have had one split wide open simply trying to install it on a rim, they had never been used or mounted before me, but time was not their friend.

    Plus I managed to get a Nichimo Lancia Stratos RC car. Overall not too bad, seems to be only missing one rear light, maybe a mirror and there is only one crack in the body that I can find, but its out of the way. It seems to have a very early electronic speed controller. Not too sure how to go about restoring the body though, and if anyone has a manual for one of these, I'd be grateful for a scanned copy!

    THAT looks awesome, a real candidate for measurements for 3D printing if you ask me. On the ESC, is there any more photos of it??? It looks like it is in there sideways, so perhaps the previous owner wedged one in there they had laying around, would be interested in seeing more of the labels and markings on it, but then it looks hard wired to the motor, so questions abounds.

    Not a huge issue, but a pain! 

     

    Is it my eyes or is it missing a flat spot in which to tighten the pinion gear to?
