  1. Not really a postman, but a fella that used to hang out at my house and disorganized garage to fiddle with Tamiya. He brought this over along with some other bits and bobs, most notably, my Chenowth body for the Rough Rider I have been tinkering with for ages.

Well, silly me, thinking Photobucket would pull their head out and let us post sometime soon. I guess a regular post is in order.

How high does that body sit? The Stratos shell sits all the way down to the bottom of the stock body posts. If you're interested in these mounts I'll make them available to buy, after testing, and with longer posts/shafts if needed.

I grabbed my project and it looks like I bodged on some other mounts from a similar interface, they are the square mount on both sides with the 90 degree bend straight up, could be a TL01 mount??? I know that this body on the front will possibly sit best right on top of the stock front shock mount, but I have to pull all the body mounts off that I was trying to mount up those magnetic mounts to. I love what you have done there on the front and the rear modified mounts there. I am so far away it seems from getting things done.

NOW you can see just how much bigger that truck is to the Blackfoot, EVEN the box is much bigger.

Makes me want a scorcher again...

I don't know if I could run my Scorcher like that, but dangit that looks great and it has Rough Rider wheels to boot, seems they always look better with RR wheeels and tires.

My boy had such a good time playing with his mom's MF-01X while his sister and I drove our rally cars that he asked for a rally rig for himself.  I had a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRC #51289 body and a few left over hop ups I didn't need for my build so I figured why not?  I picked up the cheapest TT-02 on sale at Tower Hobbies to use as the chassis.

After a few nights of tinkering on it this is where we're at with the chassis:

That is a very sexy body shell that is on that beast, but I suspect he will have some other body to go on his runner???

    What!?!?!? When did this happen????

It seems that Photobucket is still spamming my emails, wonder if this mix up was everywhere BUT the USA???? I don't use them all that much and haven't uploaded much of anything since the remodel here at TC.

MAHOOOSIVE MAN CAVE THERE, you need to get us all the coordinates so we can visit it and run on that track you have set up. YEP, when you see a Clod next to a Blackfoot, you really get a sense on just how crazy big they are.

I got my hands on six full pieces of new sod for free so I decided to add them around the border of my track.  trying to keep it heavily watered so it will knit in and not die in the summer heat.  I also decided I need to increase the gap between the two jumps by a couple feet.  As it sits now I can clear it easily, and since they're too close together you can't really take each one, you have to go full over the gap.  I'm hoping increasing the space between them will give you two options, take each jump one at a time, or go for clearing the gap.

whatever scraps of sod I had left I used to start building up the embankment on the straight.

I picked up some of the cheap plastic "speed cones" you can get on amazon and ebay to add a tarmac area of track, so now the track has multiple race surfaces.  Makes me want to build a rallye car next!

I managed to take out a bunch of cones by the end of the session.

I have to admit to not being able to see those cones very well at all,but I like the rest of it, this is looking great everytime I see it, sure hope this winter doesn't wreck it all that much, I hope to come up there some day and play.

The rear body posts moving around on the MF01X Jimny have been bugging me for awhile now, but I didn't feel like spending a whole lot of money.  I had the simple idea of using some wire.  Some bending with the pliers and now the body wobble is vastly improved for a total cost of nothing.

    vA2EnTG.jpg

I am going to have to steal that idea as my body post solution on my TL01 Landcruiser bounces around a bit.

  7. All I got was the silver can, that is stating it modestly, I GOT TO DROOL ALL OVER THE KIT BOX. :D It did hurt to make it an origami project, but I got over it, oh, I did wipe off the drool, but it has been so hot here that it really evaporated before long. I have to admit that thanks to Jason's patience, it was a pleasant experience, I wasn't rushed to get this abroad, so it got done and everybody is happy. I still can't believe the USPS got it there in 8 days!!!

My only concern (other than not destroying the body/chassis just to install them) is whether they can hold up in high speeds/maneuvering without moving.

I wish I had bought some KILLERBODY branded mag mounts to be honest, they sound like and look like they have it nailed for ease of use. I can tell you that with my fitting trials, I have simple taped the metal to the area of the body I want it to be and then fiddled with the mag on the body posts, most of the time, I could successfully pick up the car by the body and they didn't separate, BUT, it is simple clear office tape holding on the body at this time. I think it could handle speed, but if your "maneuvering" includes rolling the car over, well, I don't think it would hold up to that too much.

  9. Well I still think it is more like Vegas odds that you were missed on the customs. Not that I am trying to throw you under the bus, just think we got lucky on this shipment. You will find the extra part when you go to assemble it, I also think you lauded too much praise on me as it was a fairly easy repackage job when you allowed me to "fold" the kit box. 😱 The only thing thing that delayed me was finding a suitable box to cram it into without having to go buy one,  but as my father-in-law points out, I never throw out a box.

My prototype M04S chassis arrived today, along with the coffin spoke wheels, arrived today. :)

Now I just have to build it all up.

That looks great and if we find all the pieces that are difficult to buy individually for the M04 because they break a lot, we can just have you design them in 3D print so we can piece our old chassis together.

Can you follow up about the magnets instead of normal ole' posts? I really don't want to drill up my future shells and I'd appreciate if you can tell us how good they hold up in everything in place.

    Thanks!

Those mag mounts look very near the ones I bought a few months ago. They are a bit wonky on the standard diameter bodyposts that Tamiya include in the kits. Then there is the issue of getting the mount to contour to the curves(or in my case, the flats) of the body you want to mount. Oh yea, how could I forget the fact that they add some 15mm in height to the body mount poles themselves, so don't go looking for a slammed look.

I don't fully understand but do you mean you want the instructions for the dampers?

Not exactly, I have the included single sheet folded up that tells you about which piston to use as well as spring suggestions, but they all only seem to apply to M03 and M04 specs, none included for the M05 or M06.

Ummmm, DROOOOOOOOOOOL, very cool work there, are you going to go for a high polish look or matte???

I painted and applied the decals to my TT-02R rally build.  Somehow I lost the instruction sheet for the body so this was all done with reference images off the Internet.  I made 2 mistakes:

    1) I painted the white up a bit too high on the front

    2) I painted the windows because I erroneously thought that the window stickers were opaque when in fact they are translucent.  Doh!

I gotta say, I really like this rally body!  I may do up another "show" body with LEDs and driver figures...

Looks much better than I think I could ever do, mind if I drop off some paint work for you to do in your spare time?? I gotta get over there for some BBQ and the wife wants to go to the Silos again.

I have them on my M-06, love them! Want another set for my M-03 as well 😊

That is great, I got a SUPER deal on them since they were MAKE OFFER and it is a shame Tamiya doesn't know how to put the build instructions inside the box for any of the M chassis past 3&4, so I guess I will see if there were any suggestions in the build manual of the M5&6 chassis, when I get to them.

  15. Well, lets see how I do posting with this i-thingy.🙂

Got some M chassis shocks, 54000 or be exact as well as my first proper FF02, the Celica. I have thought for some time to get the FF02 since I have the FF01 Civic as well as the FF03 chassis as well, now completed the "set", I suspect Tamiya will now come out with an FF04 to make me get another kit.

I was going to try 2s at first, just to see what kind of beans it's got. 4s is only a wee bit more rpm than the 5700 on 5s.....

Not that I know anything about what you guys are talking about in detail, might as well be Latin or Greek to me, but don't forget one thing, SCALE, a wee bit in 1:10 scale is to be multiplied by 10, so that is 10X a wee bit. :D Enjoy your fun you guys.
