  1. I can say with absolute conviction, i have never owned an ESC in my life. J
  2. Today, the postman brought me a second VW Golf Racing body set. Now i can build one and keep one in the packet. J
  3. I am looking for a pair of rear wheels for the 58032 Tornado racing master kit. They are the same wheels as in the 50056 wheel and tyre set. I dont need the tyres, just the wheels, but will buy the lot if necessary. Would prefer new old stock unused items. J J
  4. I can help you with this, i have an original set of side decals for the F-150 Ranger that i would sell. I will PM you. J
  5. There seems to be a common thread here, in as much as the F1 cars are the least popular of the lot. I find this with Tamiya in general. A lot of my collection is on road, but i think i must be in the minority. Looking at the picture of Suprachrgd82's Porsche, it is closer to the larger kits in construction, so i'm gussing that it is a later TamTech gear? Does anyone know how many versions of the original TamTech there was? J
  6. Back in the day when i got into RC models, i always thought the TamTech models were a lesser model than the 1/12 or 1/10 kits. Now i concentrate more on the collecting side of the hobby, i have started to appreciate the compact and neat style of them. The other factor, is where some of the early nib kits are now very expensive, i have seen nib TamTech kits selling for very little. I also collect original body sets, and the same applies, some of the early body sets are in the hundreds, but a nib TamTech body set can be as low as £25. Am i alone in my appreciation of these models, or are there other fans out there? J
  7. Hi Sven, I would be interested in the wheels and tyres for my resto. Can you pm me the price etc? Cheers J
  8. Hi and welcome to the club. The question really is where you are going to run it. If you are going to just run it around your garden at moderate speeds, then it should be fine, but if you really want to use it hard and have a bit of bashing fun, then i would sell it and get something modern. The front suspension mounts on these are very fragile, and known to break as soon as they see a bump, and getting a spare chassis is becoming harder, and good ones expensive. Tyes are also another consideration. If while in storage the originals have perished and cracked, finding a new set will be hard, unless you put different wheels on. Also consider, that the older models were not designed to take modern battery packs, or brushless setups, so you will be hampered by speed issues, and how to fit a decent battery. From the point of view of wanting to get your kids involved and have some fun, i would get something new, so that any damage can be repaired quickly and cheaply. By all means restore this and keep it as keep sake from your childhood, but your own kids will have far more fun with something more modern. J
  9. Wow, way to twist it round. I never suggested anyone to leave because they didn't like my opinion, if you read what i actually said, i suggested they left if the didn't like the hobby. And as for being 'outraged' about people having opinions that differ from mine, i couldn't care less what your opinions are, just dont judge me on how i enjoy the hobby. Happy Christmas. J
  10. Its called free speech and having an opinion. Its why we dont live in a dictatorship. I really couldn't care what other people in the hobby do, its up to them, but when someone comes on here and starts ranting that i am selfish, or wrong in what i do, then it starts to matter to me. J J
  11. I use ebay fairly regularly, so i have come across this quite a lot. I was on the other end of the situation two weeks ago, i had bid on several item from a seller in italy, i was the only bidder, and the items sold to me for the start price. As soon as the auction ended, i was contacted to say that i could not have the items, because he would not post to the uk. I pointed out that it said he would on the listing, and that it seemed to me that he obviously did not get as much for the items as he wanted. He then went into a massive rant about brexit, and how the post office refused to send anyting to the uk now. The best bit, was that he said i could have the items free, but i had to arrange to get them posted... in italy. I dont care about politics, but when someone uses it as an escuse to pull out of a deal, thats just stupid. He was told to go and waste someone elses time. J
  12. The one thing that comes out of this, is that there a bunch of miserable whingers, who dont like other people having an opinion that differs to theirs. The most laughable part of it, is they are bemoaning the fact people collect and enjoy their hobby, but have forgotten the fact that they are doing it on a hobby forum. Hypocritcal or what. Perhaps they should quit the club and do something else. J
  13. Nice rant there. Can you please explain what collecting is then? By its very nature, collecting as a hobby means you will end up with multiple items. I have approx 100 vintage rc kits, either new built, restored, or new in box. Apart from where i have built the F1 stuff in the team colours, i.e, both drivers, i only have one of each. Does that make me a hoarder, or somebody who enjoys displaying and enjoying my things? If you dont like the way the hobby works, or it upsets you that other people do enjoy it, i would suggest you find something else to do, instead of moaning about it. J

    1/12 Honda CRX

I have always liked the Kyosho FF Honda CRX & Peugeot 205, but they are extremely hard to find, and even harder to find parts for. A few years ago, i was lucky enough to buy an NOS kit of the Honda that had been shop soiled stock where parts had been taken out. I had forgotten about this kit until i was moving stuff around this weekend. I went through it, and as far as i can see, its just the main lower chassis and speed control with the ceramic resistors that are missing, although if i build it, no doubt i will find other parts are missing. Does anybdy have one of these, or have any spares? J
  15. My car was 'restored' back in the early 2000s, but there are some improvements i am making. J
  16. Nice to see a fellow coupe owner on the site. Mine is a 1978 factory manual overdrive car with the 4.2 engine. J
  17. I am after the complete gearbox internals for the vintage 58023 Holiday buggy or 58024 Sand rover. I dont need a body, but i would be interested in buying a complete used, or damaged chassis for spares Thanks J
  18. After being self employed for a great many years and working around the world in mechanical engineering, i gave it all up, returned to earth, and i am now a technician for the car brand that has the horse as their logo. J
  19. I would love to have a vintage hobby shop. J
