Correct on all points there...
...I grew up in a house where my dad flew RC aircraft.....so it is in the blood.
My interest in cars started early teens....and the two have always been with me ever since (especially now I drive and have owned many cars)
I fly RC aircraft and have done for 30 years (scary it has been so long)

I would say I am 2/3 a plane enthusiast and 1/3 a car enthusiast....if I was to do a split.
I have a You Tube channel where I share my 3 hobbies with the viewer........namely RC Aircraft.......RC Cars....and Plastic Modelling.

Also, I have some aircraft in my showroom here!

Hi Superluminal,
I fly regularly and I have built up a nice little squadron now!
I am a member of Delyn Model Flying Club in North Wales......a great place to fly as the field we have is perfect.
I fly with all Futaba gear so I can't really go off-piste and recommend others.
My latest creation is below.....

I wouldn't want one of these even if they were free. Partly because I find it ugly, and partly because it isn't a kit. That means it's kind of a toy by definition as its only purpose is entertainment; there's nothing to do except play with it once you open the box.
At least Tamiya kits start life as models before becoming toys. Plus each kit requires something from the builder. No two will be completely identical because of differences in taste and building skill.
I'm not saying you're wrong to prefer the Radix, of course you're not, it's just your opinion. But others are likely to have wildy different perceptions of value to you.
I do want a Super Avante, so the price doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
I would prefer the Radix to be a kit.....because I am a modeller at heart.
But it isn't - it is however a very high spec and very fast machine, with superior components and excellent build quality.
I would also argue it is not a toy because it can be stripped down to its' component parts and those parts may be replaced. A toy cannot be stripped down or has parts available.
Some good points in your comment though.

Schumacher Cougar LD2
and
Team Associated RC10 B6.3D Team Kit
How does the Super Avante stack up against those? Genuine question, one I'm not qualified to answer.
Also, for me £100 more is a significant difference. I don't think I've paid that much for a kit yet (though maybe my SCX10iii comes close with all the electrics).
Yes there are lots of options.
My point was really that for 25% more you are into the realms of far superior kit.

The list is endless....
....But I did stick to RC Cars.....lol

If you go back to my original comment.....I was commenting on the price!!!!
Meaning for ONLY £100 more....you can have a "very different machine"

It's a Tamiya fan forum - what do you expect here, I think we all know they are not the cheapest!
lol

2 minutes ago, Wandy said:To be fair, that is every bit as ugly as the Super Avante.
It is much better in real life....but it is the spec of this car that is very good. 1/8th scale...6 cells.....handling is amazing.....very competent machine. And as I say....only £100 more!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....

Just now, BuggyGuy said:Yeah - and its got about as much character as a Hollyoaks cast member, and may easily win the next watching paint dry world championships
TD4 is the first new dedicated Tamiya off road buggy platform for what, 10 years? That's got to be one of the main reasons everyone's pretty interested (even if they don't plan on getting one).
These things handle like a God......not sure you know what you are talking about......lol

Any of the Tamiyas really. I like that you talk about everything including what it says on the box. On the Comical Grasshopper one (which I think was on your channel before it was deleted) you talked about driving the original Hornet around a shopping centre as a lad. Great memories.
Wow yes...Walton's Model Shop......Pale Blue Hornet........lol
Well remembered!

Love your unboxing vids btw. :o)
Oh that's great! So glad you enjoy them.
Any favourites?
I appreciate some feedback so thanks.

Just now, toyolien said:What were you disappointed in? And, which non-Tamiya will you be getting? Oh, and have you built the Comical Grasshopper that you unboxed a while ago yet??
lol
A long list of disappointments. The look of it for one. The access to the battery. The silly mudguards.
Non-Tamiya will be the Radix6 and the FTX Kanyon.
And no...not yet.....lol. I have over 50 NIBs to build in my house at the moment......so it isn't as if I don't have much choice.....lol
Plus with the nice weather I go Model Flying a lot these days......
-
Over-engineered....and will be over-priced.
The build-up preview video was brill......and got us all excited.......but the actual car is a disappointment.
Sorry to say this but I will be wandering off-piste again with another Non-Tamiya purchase......

2 minutes ago, SeanSean said:So I have a question for those of you who are more in the know than I am.
In the youtube video, at around 1:25 the car is midair and off-kilter, and the front wheels turn to re-align the car. Could that mean the car is equipped with a gyro? Or is that just the skill of the driver?
I think the driver simply turned the steering wheel on his transmitter.......
