Yes the motor is bolted in correctly and I'm only using one pair of holes on the motor. The motor does get hot when running, but not so hot that I can think it would warp the plastic.
The spur gear is plastic. Is it possible to get a spur gear made from some other kind of material that would fit and work better?

I'm running a Trinity Monster Horsepower PRO motor in my Dirt Thrasher. The car is really quick with this motor, but it also causes the spur gear to strip after every couple of runs. Are there any stronger replacement spur gears I can use or anything else that would stop it from happening?

Thanks for the help! I'll check out the post.

Can someone please explain to me what the benefits of a ball diff is and how you should set the tension on the diff. A full explanation would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Will I need to change the wheel hubs, or will the standard ones work?

What Pro Line tires will fit a Dirt Thrasher? I'm looking for front and rear buggy tires and rims that will fit this model. The standard tires lacks grip when you upgrade to a decent motor.

Thanks! I will keep that in mind.

Can someone explain to me exactly what a torque splitter does and how many you need if you want to fit it to a Tamiya Dirt Thrasher.

Thanks. I just don't understand why the manual says that the radio supports 27mhz. 75mhz is ilegal in South Africa. I think I'm just going to order some 75mhz crystals over the web and use the radio anyway.
-
Yeah, I bought it in the US. And I'm trying to use it in South Africa. That sucks! So there is no way I can use a 27mhz crystal in it?
-
I recently purchased a Futaba 2PL radio. It came with a 75mhz crystal. In the manual it clearly states that it does support 27mhz crystals aswell. However when I tried to put in a 27mhz crystal it did not work.
Is there a reason for this?
I'm pretty new to rc, so if someone can help me I would really appreciate it.

Does anyone know how many teeth there are on the Tamiya Dirt Thrasher spur gear?

Thanks! I suppose you have some degree in mathemetics? [8D]

How do you calculate the estimated top speed for a rc car given the gear ratio, spur gear, pinion gear, tire size and motor RPM? What is the formula used?
What does "Rollout" mean? How do you calculate this?[

Does anyone know of a Dirt Thrasher or Manta Ray related site. I'd like to get some ideas or reviews about the kits. [8D]
Thanks!

Good to hear you all seem to like it because I ordered one and should be getting it by the end of this week (Hopefully!).
Kendalboatsman - Check out www.towerhobbies.com -> they have a nice list of Futaba radios there. Maybe there is one with the same features.
-
Thanks I will do that!

Ok. Thanks for all the help. I will see what I can do!

What turn buckles can I fit to this car? What difference will it make?

I am looking for any parts for the Top Force Evo (chassis, suspension posts, etc.) I want to fit it to my Dirt Thrasher!
-
So I can use the carbon chassis etc (if I can find any!) in a Dirt Thrasher?

Anyone done anything interesting to a Dirt Thrasher? Will parts for the Top Force Evolution fit this car?

Stripping spur gears

Yes the car is fully ballraced. The first hop up I did to the car was putting putting in bearings. I also used the tool that was supplied with the car to allign the pinion. The spur gear wears out evenly. It looks like the teeth on the spur gear just wears off. This causes the pinion to slip on the teeth of the spur gear.
