Started sorting through another couple of boxes of vintage SRB parts, slightly shocked by how many pairs of rear arms & front ends I have...
-
Specially made for Autobacs, possibly an internal promo model?
-
Things like this are a good idea for the Blitzer chassis vehicles and TA01/TA02 chassis as the front shock towers are prone to cracking, on a Blackfoot or Monster Beetle though this is totally useless... & that price! 😳
-
I've actually just had a bit of a clear out so now I'm down to; 2x MK1 Rough riders SRB's 1x MK1 Sandscorcher SRB 1x MK2 (not rere) Sandscorcher SRB 4x F150 Ranger SRB's 2x M38 Wild Willys 1x Willys Wheeler (original) 2x Wild Willy 2 1x Honda City Wheeler (rere) 2x Blitzer Beetles (original) 1x Stadium Thunder 1x Bear Hawk 1x Blackfoot/Bush Devil 1x Lunchbox (original) Now if I started listing all of the body's I have too, you could easily triple the number of vehicles above! 😳

I love the Blitzer platform its cheap, rugged & tons of fun - Which is why I have 2x Blitzer Beetles, a Stadium Thunder, & a Bear hawk! I've been messing around with different shells & the F150/Blackfoot is a definite winner for me & should work on the dDF03 chassis too;

Possibly my result of the month already. This was listed as a Blackfoot tailgate, the pictures even looked like it was black too... It cost half the price of a rere item. I'm now off to buy a lottery ticket... 😁

Made that mistake of starting yet another chassis before finishing the others... This is SRB chassis number 8 😳
-
More bits in the post. Original Wild Willy bodyshell from the worlds fastest M38.... I only say that as the thing must of crashed at around 300mph to sustain the damage it has, I'm not even sure this will be repairable due to the sheer number & size of cracks, also the rear arches have been hacked out for some reason 😳 Now I thought this was bad unti I saw what else was in the box, I don't even want to guess what happened to the rest of it!

If you're feeling brave use a pair of long nose pliers to open up the motor can tabs & remove the end bell.

Go to ebay.com (not.co.uk) and search for a seller 'hwpeterl' he also does other vintage tyres as well, and they cost less delivered from HK than a set of rere tyres from the UK! Delivery only took 4 days as well

Had some SRB goodies turn up today Guess it an excuse to build another SRB chassis...😜

What's the rarest vintage R/C item you own?
max69vk replied to Hibernaculum's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Not sure if they are truly rare, however I have 2 original SRB front bumper with the mispelt word 'bugy' moulded instead of 'buggy'. Also have a spare front & rear clear glass set for an F150 Ranger. -
A tale of two Scorchers - RC project for 2017
max69vk replied to mongoose1983's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Giving this thread a bump as all my Scorcher projects have slowed whilst I restore the chassis & I need some inspiration to keep going! -
As poor or rough as a bearing may be, provided they don't have a a ridiculous amount of slop or play in them, they will always be better than bushes. Bushes are literally friction generators as 2 surfaces wear against each other, lubricating them doesn't work either as if you get any dirt in there it just makes things worse.

All the way from Germany, totally filthy but complete & good condition M38 LWB chassis...
-
Funny you say that, I've spent the last couple of days looking into how to make moulds for that exact reason 😁

How has Tamiya infected your everyday life?
max69vk replied to Mad Ax's topic in General discussions
How has Tamiya affected my everyday life? 1. I'm poorer. 2. Every spare space in the house & garage is now occupied by a car or parts for a car. 3. My other half stares at me even more with that looks of 'what the badword is wrong with you?' 4. I've almost developed a compulsion to rescue & restore every basket case model I come across (I may need an intervention soon). 5. I have to keep an Excel spreadsheet on my desktop to keep track of parts and models coming and going, mainly so I know where I've stored them! Thats all fairly normal, right?! 😳 -
Yeah OCD about the cleanup is one thignIm trying to avoid... I'm not convinced I'll win that battle. One of the lower front wing corners is broken off and missing as is one of the rear lights on the tailgate (though these can be grafted on from a rere part to if needed) although I've got a few spare shells and grills I can swap around as I seem to have developed an obsession for collecting them. There's a couple of other Rangers not pictured here too...
-
I think the Mrs is going to hang me... Thankfully this should only need a good cleanup rather than a full resto!
-
Started testing this little lot. Quite surprised how many small differences there are between apparently identical versions of servos & packaging etc...
-
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're RC Channel. Even if they leak they still have to be better than the standard sticks! 😀
-
More parts! Another SRB front end, this time with some creative painting which will be stripped. And a Bruder cab unit which will be modified to fit a WR02 chassis after seeing an epic conversion on Instagram of all places! The inspiration...

Looks like a CRP Superbuggy, rare as rocking horse poop! http://vintage.dirt-burners.com/2017/02/18/crptamiya-superbuggy/

Deliveries have been a bit quiet of late (my bank account has been heaving a sigh of relief), but I've had a couple of vintage Beatties bags (blue) turn up to house a couple of vintage models without boxes, plus a set of original SRB shocks, & these converted SRB shocks, only a simple modification but they make the world of difference in both looks and performance!

Radshape are a metalwork engineering company rather than being a dedicated RC parts manufacturer, I get the feeling that it was quite easy for them to produce these parts but it was run/managed by a single individual in the business who had an interest in RC and saw a way to combine this interest with their work. If this individual has left the business, or other projects are earning the business more money, I can easily see why it may now be winding down. I had high hopes that they be coming up with some more parts after buying a WR02 Jimmy off them last year that appears to have only been box opened to measure up various parts in the kit. Sadly no dice.
