You mean like this?... https://www.shapeways.com/product/YSJAACY4E/sand-scorcher-louvered-rear-sun-shade?optionId=60360038&li=marketplace

Today's basket case delivery was this little lot masquerading as an F150 Ranger, luckily I already have 95% of the missing parts including a true Ranger body and is going to be built up with a few custom parts like fully polished alloy parts & carbon fibre chassis etc... And here it is 10 mins later...

F150 Ranger/Blackfoot.

Grind the end of the hub pin down so it doesn't protrude, it'll give you just enough clearance.

Started rebuilding my 2nd MK1 SRB, after stripping cleaning/repairing everything. Still need a couple of minor parts but it's coming together nicely. Also started painting up another Willy driver, the camera flash has made it all look glossy when it's actually flat.

I've found results to be a bit hit & miss when using my ultrasonic cleaner, but have found it to one of those things I'll use as 'it can't do any harm'. If you're using a proper industrial type cleaner the results are definitely a lot more noticeable.

That interior is simply astounding!

The box of parts is ever growing, and I very much doubt I'll ever get through all of it! I've had another look & it's definitely not a DF03, but there aren't any other ID markings on it anywhere. Todays postal deliveries included yet another early 80's Beatties bag & this; Unfortunatley the shell has a few unnecessary holes in it, but the chassis is really good other than a repaired steering link. I'll probably be fitting an original Scorcher shell to this anyway.

Looking at the parts for my double seat Willy projects I realised that I'm missing the rear support bars for the roll cage. As this is already going to be a bit different I started to wonder how these missing parts could actually be used to become a feature. I recently bought a couple of Holiday buggy roof panels for. Pnother readon than they were literally a couple of pound for the pair... time to section, extend and find a way to fit them to the WW2 roll cage... Once all the glue has gone off it'll get wrapped in black vinyl or canvas. Also decided to check out the shell now the melted ABS/acetone mixture has gone off. In all honesty I don't think I'll be using filler ever again on a hard body, the results are pretty impressive! Below shows what it looks like even before sanding & finishing;

Today's basket case delivery included 2 complete shockers, one is a Bycomo/Deagstini rolling chassis (minus a ton of parts) the other buggy is a total unknown with a snapped chassis. Both of these will be totally stripped & broken for parts, the dampers, motor, & tyres on the buggy are decent & will end up on my Bear Hawk project, it also appears to have a full set of turnbuckles fitted & various anodised parts which will end up on a City Honda project. The rest of the parts will go into a huge box of other random parts to potentially be used for a Frankenstein project for the future.

I'll let you know on the radio gear, I've literally got a sack full of vintage Acoms radio equipment waiting to be used in builds.

Here's a pic of the receiver & a bad pic of the servo model... The Molotow is really good, if you can decant it and airbrush its even better. One thing I will say is that after painting/spraying it don't touch it for at least a week. It seems to take forever to fully cure.

Thanks for the info. I went looking through my spares boxes & found a couple of new Willys that I must have ordered ages ago & forgot about. With regards to the windscreen I think I'm going to modify a rere version with a Dremel to allow the hinges to fit, I have found a couple of originals online but they are way overpriced considering they both have the wiper part snapped off. I pre empted with this that I'd need a LH windscreen hinge before this turned up and managed to source a pair, took them out the envelope they arrived in and typically the LH that I need is damaged so it can't be used, so if anyone wants to swap a RH hinge for a LH....
-
Looking for a left hand windscreen hinge for an original M38 Wild Willy, I have a right hand hinge that I can swap if required. Also after a front grill & windscreen too. thanks

The chassis is identical so it will fit

Stadium Blitzer, Blitzer Beetle and Stadium Thunder all have identical chassis. The only differences between them are the shells fitted, wheel colour (SB-White, BB-Orange, ST-Yellow), the Stadium Thunder also had a red gearbox + front end. Looking at the shell it has no holes for wing mirrors & only one bonnet hole which suggests its a vintage MK1 Blitzer Beetle, either way it's going to be great for some cheap thrills!

Finally got round to removing the radio lid on the recently aquired M38 Willy and to my surprise it's all complete & has period Futaba radio gear fitted (even if it is for a plane), I was going to fit some Acoms kit but may leave this in place. Gave the chassis a once over and other than being dirty it's all complete & in really good condition even the wheels and tyres are in decent nick. Also fitted wipers to the Scorcher, they were badly brush painted in Molotow chrome & have come out really well considering.
-
Finally arrived, battered, bruised, filthy, & ready for restoration! I've not looked at it properly yet but it looks like only a couple of parts are needed all bodywork) & I've got most of them already so it's not too bad. It also came with a hump pack batt which was a bonus, no ideas what electrics are fitted yet, but there's definitely something in there! If anyone has any of the below parts give me a shout! Front grill, Windscreen (might convert a rere screen) Willys right arm, Willys boots!

Lunchbox Wheels and Tyres with a twist
max69vk replied to Country Mike's topic in General discussions
Don't take this the wrong way, but something about your creation really reminds me of a Popemobile! with regards to your tyre issue have you considered gluing up the valve holes in the wheels (if yours have them) & then gluing the tyres to the rims - Effectivley making them air filled so they don't collapse? -
Far too cold to do any more spraying so I decided to finally brave the 2nd seat modification for the Wild Willy 2. Most of this had to be done by hand with small knife & hand files as both my Dremels died on me âšī¸ Still got a lot of filling to be done (which will use all the shell off-cuts currently soaking in acetone, rather than actual filler), and then a bit of additional bracing as this shell will be used not just looked at. Once I'm happy the shell is sturdy, the Willy in these pictures gets his arms chopped off & re-positioned to make him into a co-pilot đ

Another productive albeit freezing night of activity in the garage! First off was starting to move out more cars out of the wardrobe/airing cupboard/under the bed etc. Still need to move all the SRB's & Wild Willys/Wheelers across though... Did a bit more spraying work, 2 original Rough rider shells - 1 primed, 1 painted + a Bright pink Lunchbox I'm building for my 3yr old daughter!

Bodies VS. Chassis - How many bodies that need a chassis
max69vk replied to Kingfisher's topic in General discussions
Just had a quick count up & I'm running a 3:1 ratio on bodies to chassis, they are all hard bodies though (as if that makes it any better?!) đŦ -
Got home after work last night to find both kids were already in bed, which is something of a rarity, so took the opportunity to crack on with a few small jobs, which then resulted in the OH nearly having heart attack when she discovered how much kit I had stashed in the airing cupboard! First off was to finish polishing up & fixing a pair of SRB ranger rear body mounts using parts from an F1, Then I test fit the clear rear lenses into the Sandscorcher light pods that I'd adapted from a re-release kit (originals on the left modified re-re on the right) you'd never tell the difference! Decided to test my newly acquired Ranger shell on a chassis, also tried putting a sunroof into it which then chipped the paintwork đ I haveno idea what colour this actually is so then had to try & mix the colour by eye to match & touch up, And finally got round to starting to rebuild my Sandscorcher basher shell (which is now looking too nice for a basher), started by painting in the infills on the VW badge, a tiny detail but one I think makes a lot of difference, I decided to use smoked glass parts from a Blitzer rather than the usual clear parts and they suit the paint colour perfectly Oh, also managed to prep 2 original Rough Rider shells & a Lunchbox for spraying (hopefully tonight) All in all one of the most productive days I've had in weeks! đ

After a bit of back & forthing with the seller I bought this off the bay, the decals are a bit naff, but it's in the colour I wanted + the stainless rear bumper is a nice detail. Thankfully it is actually a genuine Ranger shell & it also came with the clear front screen & the grill is in good condition too, the paint on the rear bed is a bit patchy but it'll probably be sprayed black or vinyled anyway Also had a load of SRB speed controllers turn up which will be used for parts
