  1. Thats about the size of it, i notice that happening alot! It really doesnt bother me though, i just think 'cool! Look at that other vesion/large collection/etc' Im on a few facebook groups and it really can be a handy way to get info and parts. Ive made lots of RC friends through it, learn alot, and managed to restore cars i never would have been able to as ive managed to meet the people that have large collections of rare parts! Some of my cars would still be wrecks in boxes if it wasnt for some serious collectors on facebook. I also find that those big collectors also sell parts for less than they would generally bring on ebay as you are interacting and have obvious things in common. As i type this, more and more people that ive got to know through facebook come to mind. A fair few i now know in real life too. Really helpful knowledgeable folk with skill sets i wouldnt be able to access otherwise. Yeah, facebook has its share of idiots, and folk do like to 'show off' but rarely do i think its ment in that way. Ive got sooo much more out of this hobby since joining various facebook groups. A couple of examples, i met a local pro brushed motor builder who has helped me massively and personally knows alot of the big names of the 80s rc world. I have had stangers phone me up and spend a few hours walking me through how to diagnose and repair vintage esc's I have had issues with vintage parts and electronics and have ended up chatting with the people that made them in the first place! Ive made great friends from joining groups that run race meets ive started going to And loads more!!!
  2. Ive run them on a drifter, but no way id run them on a buggy or any kind of race car.
  3. I havent had them from new, most of those ive only had a few months. I bought a complete old racers set up from the late 80s. A couple of the motors ive had for 10+ years and the BRM is a new built motor i requested him to build.
  4. Im not surprised the magnets are stronger in the sport tuned. The extra magnets on the outside might cause all kinds of issues. According to a motor builder i know its the field at the ends of the magnets that matters, adding smaller magnets will/may? Move the magnetic field? I dont know, magnetism confuses me 😂 But with an empty can and a motor flag you can feel how strong the magnets are, if there is a dead spot in the middle or not, and if the field is centered. Magnets not only loose power but the centre point moves which is also not good. I was at my motor builders a couple of months back re zapping a load of old motors and we were talking alot about this kind of thing, not all the info went in though 😂
  5. I was doing some price comparisons yesterday, and rc was alot more expensive back then! In todays money a new procat kit was about £560! My old nosram esc was the equivalent of over £200 today! I was using bank of englands converter so i assume thats reasonably accurate.
  6. How quick does it work? How much of a bottle would it take to do a body? How much is it? And lastly, is it 100% lexan safe? The good thing with desolvit was its quite cheap and works quickly. I did find one body that it wouldnt get the paint off though.
  7. I wonder if they used better magnets in a sport tuned then? Dont suppose anyone has a new, opened sport tuned and silver cans and also has a motor flag?
  8. My 16x3 brm, built for me a few months ago. Lovely hand wound motor
  9. Worcester models competition speed controller, also unlimited with reverse
  10. Nosram advanced fet unlimited esc with reverse from about 1986
  11. Cant put pics on here easily, but as fad as brushed are concerned, i run a tornado 19x2, a BRM 16x3, a trinity pure gold 18x2, a tamiya acto pink and a parma cyclone. In reserve i have a few demons, a shumacher pink power, a 18x2 kyosho mega, a dynatech, a reedy ultra green dot and a 17x2 lrp. I run a few brushless too, all speed passions, but i do like vintage brushed motors. I run them with vintage 80s escs too.
  12. I have a few 1060s and one of them also does this. Its a genuine one too. I added extra caps and it made no difference so i just switched it to nimh mode instead and use a lipo alarm. Problem solved. If yours has the same issue mine did, it seems to be a problem with the voltage cut off. Mine was going into low speed linp mode though rather than shutting off completely.
  13. B&Q in sheffield always have it on the shelf. It works wonders, still got nearly a whole can, hope its not discontinued! The manufacturers website never seemed to list it.
  14. I was wondering if they included modern type universals, thought they would, but didn't expect you would get 4!
  15. I REALLY need to learn 3d design!
  16. Silicone oil is not considered good for metal to metal contact. If you run it alot with silicone oil in the bearings, they may not last long.
  17. Thats a real good point on avantes short wheelbase. Id forgotten about that. Im not sure which is different, joint, prop or both. The parts will be going into a vanquish so i need the longer set up.
  18. Has anyone got a front gearbox case, propshaft, and front prop joint for sale? Used is fine. Im in the uk and have other parts so cash or trade is fine. Thanks.
  19. I have a grass garden track about that size. I no longer have a boomerang though bit i do have a terra scorcher. My egress is noticably better but not loads. Procat is better but its still set up for astro. Best car round my garden track is my super astute. I depends alot on how the track is. I have a double jump after a hairpin that needs some motor poke to clear with the amount of run up. On astro my 4wd cars are better, on grass my 2wd cars are better. I havent really messed with set up yet though. But, on a track that size, you will notice the difference. Edit, probably the most fun on my track is my stadium thunder
  20. Im really hoping they release one of the trucks!
  21. Looks like its been put in an oven, maybe to soften the paint to help get it off?
