The car will generally be used for back garden bashing.. which his lunchbox does well, but he watches videos on youtube showing Traxxas cars and wants something similar.. Will check out the links provided.. PS. I fancy a Traxxas after watching that video!! LOL..

Yeah, had seen that but it's 1/10 he wants.. that Tamiya looks good.. why is it so cheap for a RTR?

I lurked on here many years ago with various Tamiya cars and setups, but now I have a 9 year old boy with a want for all things RC.. He currently has a Tamiya lunchbox (ball raced, RZ sport motor) and also a RGT 1/10 Landover defender rock crawler which is a very capable machine.. He watches YouTube videos and now has his mind set on getting a Traxxas Slash 4wd.. but looking at them they are a fortune. Is there a Tamiya equivalent that I could get him which would allow us you use the 4 x batteries, fast charger etc. that we have for lunchbox?

I had a Terra Scorcher 17 years ago, then 4 or 5 years back I bought a few.. BMW mini, WRC Focus (TL-01), Baja Champ, Audi A4 DTM, Subaru impreza, TLT-1 and built a crawler. I ended up selling it all and bought a Nikon D-SLR.. looking forward to drifting again.. Anything I need to know or look for with this?

I have a tamiya sport tuned motor. I received it with a car I bought on ebay. The motor is completely dead and does nothing when a battery in plugged into it. It there anything I can do to get it going or is it scrap? Cheers

It looks well used, but it also came with a Tamiya Sport tuned and a standard 540.. not bad

I'm just after a reasonable motor that is as fast in resverse as it is forward. I had a type T before and it just bugged me having slow reverse. any other suggestions for a better than stock motor with 0 dgree timing.

60P Good god who was selling the TLT that cheap,had I seen them i would've bought 100's!![][] I have seen M4F's (Ian) Thunderfoot in action and I must say it's very good but not as good as my ClodRova([]) which is as the name implies ClodBuster based, I like Ian built the whole thing using aluminium sheet,rod and U-section bought from various different DIY stores, using hand tools the only luxury i had was an electric drill!! I can safely say (not including electrics) it cost roughly £100 and the feeling you get when your creation(conductor please Igor!![li]) does exactly what you want it to do is extremely satisfying Check my showroom there's some pics of the project and end result in there!! I agree that TLT prices seemed to have increased. I bought mine second hand from ebay for £73. This included TLT, Acoms radio gear, 4 wheel steering, TLT battery and LRP runner ESC. Does a Tamiya Type S Motor have advanced timing? If not is there any other motors with zero timing that have the same performance? cheers

my TLT crawler cost no more than £100 for everything all radio gear etc...I did what mud4fun said and installed a 144.4v drill motor. makes a good difference and gives plenty of torque. I lengthened the suspension links with M3 studding and sleeved them in Aluminium tubing. This allowed me to use the tamiya ball ends.. http://tamiyaclub.com/CS/forums/thread/151608.aspx

Sounds like thread lock. Put a soldering iron onto the bolt until it melts the locktite and then just unscrew the nut..

Is it superglue or threadlock? I heard that you heat the screw with a soldering iron and it melts the threadlock. Might work for locktite glue aswell. worth a go.

Thanks for the advice. Is there any way to make the mini rear wheel drive insted of front? Can you add a steering servo to the rear instead of the front? cheers
