I love Tamiya on-road. Even my XV-01 is really an on-road car with some off-road capability. I do think I will eventually get a Manta Ray for unprepared surfaces. This is my M06, which I've setup with extra wide wheels/tires and a 13 turn motor for some realistic performance: The body is missing a significant part of the front lip spoiler now after many fun hours of delight and showing it to friends/family/neighbors. The M06's replacement body is coming soon :-D

I don't run TL01 arms, just standard M06 arms. But I run 9mm front / 14mm rear offset 31mm/34mm wide HPI rims/tires and it handles like a dream. It has classic rear engine 911 handling: great... great... a little faster and then snap oversteer/spin (the heart wants what it wants, it becomes a font-engine car for a moment )

My midlife crisis backyard RC playground

When I own a house I'm making a paved track. It's going to have cross over bridges, embankments and a pathway leading to the 1:1 car garage. Hmm perhaps with a lift to shelving for cars. -
I was told that putting a 911 GT2 body on an M06 wouldn't work. But it did 😎

Like others have said, get a multi-model memory transmitter. I have a few year old Spektrum DSM transmitter with 3 Spektrum receivers, then another 5 receivers which are OrangeRX which are DSM compatible. I like the Orange which are smaller than the Spektrum receivers which matters for my F1 cars where space inside the body is precious. I also gave away a few of my HPI remotes to nephews with my builds. I do keep two non-Spektrum remotes from HobbyKing so that way if someone wants to play RC with me I have a handout remote & car.

The 4C would look perfect as a 210mm, it's so short! Any of the Caymans would make a nice 239mm option, they did the Boxster on the M02 in that length.

I was hemming and hawing about buying the mini body but this seems like a need to buy. I love m-chassis a lot, but since it's an RS200 I want to have some off-road capability. Larger seems to work better for that for a multitude of reasons. I'd like it to have a bit more detail... but that can be made in CAD. But that's just nitpicking, they got the shape of the car right, that's what counts for my wishes. Look at the rear window situation... so beautiful:

The film has its appeal. I'm just in love with the design of the plane they made up for the film, what a beautiful prop. I understand that some of the models were flying RC planes too.

Raced around with my M06L 911GT2, my niece is quite entertained by it. I nicknamed it 'bumble bee' as it is yellow and 'mr. car' is reserved for the XV01 BRZ. And I bought something... after having difficulty acquiring one in 2016, I present to you an uncut F40 shell which I intend to make runners from! note: this one appears to be the same as the group C version but is intended for the TG10R and does not have the wing/spoiler and mirror parts tree. If anyone has one they could part with, I will pay and praise you.

I am looking for the above part rack: 10005413 G PARTS background: After a couple years of nada on ebay for a Group C F40 body (uncut) I snapped one up from a seller in Japan. I have every confidence it will show up*. I purchased it with the assumption that the body mold is the same as the one used on the Group C chassis, this one is intended for the TG10R chassis (still touring car/ F103/Group C wheelbase/track width). Unfortunately this version comes with a regular wing for any car and no mirrors. *Unlike a couple years ago when I had a friend in Germany order one from France and it got rejected by the German post! The French seller got the bodies back... and kept the money.

Worth every penny. As stated both of my brothers have 3D printers who just print anything for free to me. I've had them print tablet stands, a phone holder design of mine for my car, and a few other things. So if you want something inexpensively prototyped and test fit....

Thanks! & Ha you are the second person in two weeks to pick up on that, a fellow pilot on Reddit put worked it out too. This is after years of telling people... no not the browser. I use Chrome anyway. I'm a huge fan of the Firefox 'MiG-31' from the film. One of my RC builds will be a scratchbuilt flying EDF model. And if I have the money, time and inclination a twin turbine version too.... someday.

Hmm... modifying one of my 037s to be this Montecarlo Turbo. the Killerbody shell released a couple years ago is disappointing as all of the proportions are noticeably off. I think at some point the Montecarlo Turbo is too panel different to the 037, I have followed a thread of a very carefully designed-in-CAD Montecarlo in 1/12th scale. Perhaps with some sweet talking they would allow me to use their CAD files and create a 1/10th version. https://www.mezzo-mix-models.de/gallery-bilder/lancia-beta-montecarlo-turbo-gr-5-in-1-12-scale/ http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1144511&page=3

Thank you! I'm quite pleased. I do have a dremel, I might use that method, it's only one side where some plastic snapped away that was unintentional. And regarding the 3d pieces, how big was the tweak needed? I'm considering drawing up a proper set of stradale-sized headlamps too. I think it would be rather easy to fill in the cutout for the larger competition headlamps, the missing section of the front grille (where the extra headlamps attach), and the shutline for the cabin air intake with putty. Then all that is left is designing a front grille. If I recall correctly; you designed a rear grille, rear lights, and the air exit grill on the front clamshell. I suppose if we are really particular we could design some stradale wing mirrors and the foglamp/turn indicator. Those are all of the differences in body panels between the stradale and competition car that come to mind.

Nearly two years later... my my has it been that long. I have accomplished the pilot rating stated above. It looks like the next one will go quite quickly as I just did the written exam this week :-D As a reward to myself after some thought last week, i've decided to make this used shell a stradale car while I finish up the Totip decals for another sell (I have 5). I may request @VagabondStarJXF allow me to put some of his custom vents/grilles/louvers. But the primary thing for me is to remove the spoiler as I think the road car looks so much prettier without the spoiler. I was just revisiting this thread for putty recommendations, as I removed a bit too much!!

haha no no, i'm always overstressing its driveline anyway. It's now due for a partial rebuild from running a 13 turn in it after previously running 3300kv on 3S.
-
I can wish all I want, I wish the M08 is front motor and rear wheel drive to fulfill my Miata/Alfa/S15/etc fantasies of a drivetrain that reflects the 1:1 car respectively.

Update, the axle extenders are a bit of a pain (plus I lost parts for them!). Fortunately I did find a new set of tires and some metallic paint for the rims that looks better than previous. Reconditioned wheels and new tires Though not noticeable at this angle the rear wing does need a repaint. I'm going to modify it to street legal car spec as others have done. I also picked up a new wing/mirror parts rack incredibly cheap. I am considering making a box art body with replica decals.

Nobody races M06 around here either. Even when I had mini racing, it was a rule that it had to be front-wheel-drive, I bought a used M05 just for that purpose! Then sold it after the racetrack closed. Same with my F103. Not a fan of FWD or solid axle cars. My M06 is a joy to just tear around. I've destroyed its over-wide tires in the rear. I should also note that it runs a TA02SW 911GT2 body.

I find that I have to have runners to justify my projects. Otherwise I'd be building static models, which I object to for function-vs-form reasons. I have now 13 chassis. My runners currently are: XV01, M06, TA05swb, and an X-Ray T1. But I also own these: a trio of 3Racing FGXs, TA05 IFS, M04, Cup Racer, Active 210SS, TA02SW, M.Rage, ... hmm that's it... time to buy another chassis!
-
what turnip said. There's also the TA06. If you want a sure fit for clearance I'd suggest a Serpent 4X. But with all of these one has to consider the wheelbase may be off, some LMP shells are 270mm IIRC.

Grand plans, glacial pace execution; in my case. I own at least two bodyshells that I have an idea of what chassis should work well (non-stock, i.e. the engine/motor placement is wrong compared to the 1:1 vehicle or is a nitro and I want all brushless), but have not purchased the chassis yet. Usually it's an OOP/scarce body which I need to make a runner copy of because it's just too precious otherwise. I also just bought my fifth Lancia 037 shell because it was 27USD & free shipping. I have all of the pieces to run my M04 037 build, just need to finish the decal design (all done except the complex curve striping).
