  1. They are jealous of your mad modding skills Max……
  2. It would certainly add to the wear rate of the brushes and sport tuned motors do not have bearings on the rotor shaft, so any debris caught inside will slow things down, not significantly straight away, but I suppose it really depends how many hours of run time you already have on it Its fair to also add that Super Stock motors also do not have bearings, but due to there rebuild ability can be added for a few percent more efficiency, the BZ version also comes with a dust/debris end bell cover for further protection.
  3. I have many super stock motors, I have run them on lipo on standard connectors but did change over to Deans, running a NIMH though you wouldn’t need to change the connector High powered is brushless on a 3 cell lipo or a low turn brushed motor running lipo
  4. Yes, I have run many , many cars with pretty insane setups, I also live in Australia, so it’s HOT here, I have only once melted/fused a standard Tamiya connector, I was running a Hotshot, overgeared with a lipo and a 13T triple brushed motor on a grass surface lol I try and run Tamiya connectors on my vintage cars, but run Deans when running high powered setups
  5. Nimh won’t damage the standard connector, lipo will but only in certain circumstances
  6. Yes, identical chassis to the Boomerang, but these are really hard to find due to being the last of the Hotshot chassis cars but it was released at the same time as the Thundershot which was the next generation chassis, the Super Sabres didn’t sell well unfortunately. I am glad they have changed the shocks slightly, my vintage ones are still noticeably vintage.
  7. The Scorpion, BBX and Wild One are all very similar 2wd, I would go the belt driven 4wd for a change
  8. I have bought and used genuine Tamiya fans for the esc, and I have bought fans from Ali express for like $2, If you run the 10.5 with a lipo on that esc you will need a fan. I am actually a fan of Tamiyas 10.5 brushless, ignore the haters
  9. Not sure what the issue is, I would strip the entire driveline and check it out. Compare the front to the rear ball diffs. I am guessing that this is a re re Evo? just so you know , the TA-03 ball diffs are stronger and lighter than the Evo’s light weight unit, cheap as at Plaza Japan
  10. I have purchased a Dyna Storm, Vintage Super Astute, Super Sabre, Hotshot II, vintage Top Force Evo, plus many more all on proxy, I started using them over 7 years ago, never an issue , never a bad deal, to be honest they have all been better than the advertised “junk” lol
  11. I am not up on on road cars but are they HPI?
  12. My 2 cents, stick with it, sort the mechanical issues, I think the tyres are probably the biggest issue with handling.
  13. This is one of my favourite threads on Tamiya Club, I cannot wait to see your Avante 2001 finished one day Max.
  14. I have a genuine Tamiya fan for my ESC but if you look on Ali express you can pick up fans for a couple of dollars, I have the knockoff fan on a TBLE 04s and I run a 13.5 sensored motor in a re re Terra Scorcher, no issues so far
  15. While I agree completely with what you are saying I find with a Tamiya 10.5 I can up the gearing and not have any heat issues, and really make the most of the torque brushless has to offer, I will also admit that I always run the extra fan on the Tamiya TBLE esc to keep things cool. I am not sure why Tamiya suggest this gearing ? I also live in Australia, so heat is always a constant issue.
  16. Couple of options, may not be what you want but I will throw it out there, You could get blue hop up shocks and remove the anodising, polished alloy would go with green, ‘or remove the blue anodising and re anodise in green, a few members have done this over the years. ‘You may be aware but on my street rover I had to mount the aftermarket alloy shocks upside down to fit.
  17. Yes stock pinion is 22 tooth, it is a 0.6 mod pinion, buy a hardened or steel pinion I think you probably wouldn’t need to go higher than a 23 or 24 tooth pinion with a brushed motor. ‘Are you running 2.2 modern rims and tyres ? or standard Egress rims and tyres? The 2.2 modern will give you better top end
  18. T-studioWorks , for your driver I would suggest Tamiya Z parts tree from the Avante Black, it’s about as close as you can get without the vintage part and considering current prices they aren’t too expensive.
  19. I have 2 Max, one I found in Sydney, Australia, the other I traded with a member here, it was in France, and wait for it, I traded an Optima Mid I think I got the better deal , although they probably thought they did too, those are the best trades
  20. Thanks for posting this, those sand scorchers really needed some weight in the front, would have made a big difference to the handling.
