I'm a runner for sure. Yes, when the Frogs got their first scratch it hurt, but they survived.

It will be a fun test to perform. I will post my results here.

The Frog is a fun build.

Only had time this morning to take the Frog out for a quick spin. I tripped the digital speed sign on my street at 21mph. Pretty fast in my opinion.

That's what I'm wondering. I have Sport Tuned motors in both of my Frogs. Great motors. Very fast. Somebody on here told me to try out the Duratrax motor, so I figured I would buy one and try it out. For $13 I'm skeptical.

I built them to drive them. We do respect the two Frogs that we have, we don't recklessly damage them, but we sure do drive them. If they break, I have lots of spares and patch them up, good as new. I'm not a shelf queen person. Same with real cars, I don't like trailer queens. They are made to be driven. I do enjoy looking at the builds here. Fantastic work by very talented people. That's what makes it such a cool hobby. Something for everyone.

Drove the heck out of my Frog. Got it dirty. Got it wet. Flipped it over once. And had an absolute blast..!!

Thank you very much for the great explanation. I really appreciate it.

Hi everyone, I just purchased a new motor for my re re Frog with the Tamiya ESC and a 7.2v battery, 3000ma. The motor is a brand new Duratrax Photon Speed 2. My question is regarding the statement below, which talks about break in. All I have is the car listed above. I don't have any special equipment. So, how can I break this motor in? Is it even necessary? Can I run it in my Frog at part throttle for a certain amount of time? Any advice is greatly appreciated. I still have my new Sport Tuned motor, which I love. I want to see the comparison to the Duratrax motor. Here is the comment: COMMENTS: BREAK-IN For proper break-in, use a 3-5V power source, run the motor with no load. The contact patch should take up at least half of each brush's surface. Do NOT use more than 5V power, as the commutator may be damaged.

I'm in Miami, Florida.

That is a great idea. I think after having my two re-re Frogs I am going to start looking for an original one. And that is a great mod for it.

Wow. A blast from the past..!! Really cool..!!

I agree 100%. Make it reliable and then run the heck out of it. I'm not a fan of shelf queens at all. -

All of the parts trees, tie rod ends, ball joints, and just about everything else is available online. I prefer eBay, but there are lots of other options as well. As mentioned earlier, download the manual and take the front end completely apart. Then proceed from there. -
How did you come up with your user name?

I'm a Nascar fan. I follow the #24 car driven by Jeff Gordon. My initials are JD. -
Thanks for the tip. Is it a direct replacement?

Googled it. Found it. Cool history. Off Road Vehicle chassis.

Yes, it's really cool. What is O.R.V? Thanks.

Today I installed two new Tamiya Sport Tuned motors in my Frogs. Fun day.

Greetings All: So, my two new Tamiya Sport Tuned motors arrived in the mail today. I installed one in my silver Frog, and kept the original 540 motor in my son's green Frog. We went out and took the cars for a ride to see the difference. The sport tuned motor is noticeably quicker off the line, and faster at top speed. I was quite happy with the purchase. While I had my silver Frog apart, I also liberally greased the gearbox, so it is good to go. When we arrived home, the first thing my son wanted was for me to install the other Sport Tuned motor in his car, the green Frog. So, that is exactly what I did. I also greased the gearbox in his car while I was there. So now we both have our new motors installed. Fun day, good run, looking forward to the next time. Pics in post below.

Finally, my motors arrived. I installed one of them so far. Now we are going to go out and race both Frogs to see the improvement.
