Just thought id say hello as im a newcomer round here. got started with rc about 18 months ago when i bought 2 ftx carnages's for me and my lad to bash around. about 2 months later i bumped into an old friend who was bashing an old mini rc car car around outside his house and we got chatting and in the end i ended up buying 4 boxes and 3 bags of random tamiya bits he had found in the loft that had belonged to his step dad. i had no idea what there was in there but there was a few chassis's hiding in there so i though i might be able to build somethng out of the rubble. any how after a bit of research and a full weekend sorting through the junk i found that i had stumbled on quite a few early models.
i realised that they were incomplete and so i set out trying to find the missing parts by buying a few more boxes of "scrap" and joblots of tamiya "junk" and now i have managed to build myself a
clodbuster
monster beetle
falcon
ta-02
manta ray
tl-01
hobao hyper 10 touring car
kyosho outrage
most of these are 100% complete (need decent bodyshells) but others just need a few parts and this week ive finally managed to source bodies for the clod and beetle.
i have also got probably 90% of another ta-02 and a falcon and a tonne of motors, random other tamiya spares etc etc
i would class all of the above as ongoing projects but the one im on now is another manta ray/dirt thrasher. in a box of ta-01/02 parts i bought i found what i think is a RW racing FRP chassis and top plate, with uprated steering, cvd driveshafts and aluminium shock towers. ive ordered a new prop shaft and motor mount and now i need some parts to secure a battery (the chassis seems to be designed for 2 stubby packs?) and some shocks.
ive well and truly been bitten and find myself having to just shut it all away out of sight or else i will just keep spending! have a bit of a splurge now as i want to have some stuff complete and ready to run for when the weather gets better!

sorry ive actually found 2 pairs in a bag of random spares i had lying around. what im short of now is the hexagonal mounts that screw into them (BB6 in the manual) and the clamps out of the press parts bag.

might have been tempted myself if it had the the proper shell. looks kinda cool.

yup will get some pics asap. wish i taken pics when i first got the initial boxes as it was frightening how much stuff there was. i would say 60% has gone in the bin as it was damaged or butchered. the beetle rear end was actually screwed a falcon tub to make some sort of frankenwagon and there 2 or 3 lunchbox chassis that had been chopped up and butchered too. its now mostly all sorted into parts bins but ive still got 2 or 3 bags of undamaged/new but as yet unidentified parts and a couple bags of wheels/tyres of which most seem to be schumacher buggy. the wheels are 14mm hex so not much use for the tamiya stuff.
