  1. Yes, seems to be an interesting trend indeed. I also have seen the TT02 Ferrari F12TDF available here to puchase
  2. The TF is now available in Ontario Canada
  3. Absolutely love the side by side comparison. I think there should be a forum thread just for that- pairing old and new kits side by side lol.. the old box looks maybe a tad wider. Or maybe that's my eyes playing tricks on me, because you if you look at box art the, Bigwig appears bigger and wider. Great picture otherwise!
  4. It's funny you mention this as I was just thinking that today while talking to my friend about it. Being a 47xxx series kit it is possible it could be a limited special release even though the limited edition items/kits usually carry a 84xxx part number ex/ 84399. It would make sense for Tamiya to keep this kit very limited due to the historical significance it carries for the brand. Either way this is all speculation and there could very well be another 500+ international kits on the way
  5. Interesting fact! Apparently "Moon Craft" is the company of the original designer of the Bigwig body. So even though the current decals released with the kit aren't the same as the ones 30 years ago, they still aren't made up and in fact are "genuine", if you'd like to call it that.
  6. Fear not! You can turn that TA04SS into a 251mm chassis! I believe you need to use standard front arms, and SS rear arms to do the trick. I have done this before with the 911 RSR and it came out perfect
  7. THEY HAVE ARRIVED IN CANADA!! at my LHS. ... looks as this Dick Cepek has definitely been replaced with Moon Craft.
  8. Whatever happened to 58638? Thought I would've seen some on eBay by now. Was this a Germany only release and not worldwide?
  9. Interested in the Alfa perhaps, do you have an asking price... Ontario here too
  10. I know its not a neon but i recall seeing white before. I do also recall seeing blue once, but it may have been white dyed! Pink and carbon would look sweet!
  11. Thanks for all the ideas guys, the chameleon is definitely cool! I have my mind set on the teal though, will have to try to located pactra paints locally. Any thoughts on a Translucent Light Blue backed with some Metallic Green, then Gun Metal? Thanks!
  12. That's prob the perfect color, but I don't think my LHS carries pactra
  13. Hi, i am wondering if anyone has a good idea on how to achieve a teal blue-green as close as possible to the picture that i have attached. Found a Cobra R body set hiding among some HPI bodies at my LHS, was covered in dust and had an HPI Peugeot Rally card on it. It was not the American Flag version. Just the stock Cobra R. Going to do a non-box art, period correct colour sitting on the Ta02. Thanks for your input!
  14. Picked up and unpacked from post office... There is no substitute
  15. I would be interested in this. Good idea! Prop shaft can be made from some 5mm carbon rod. I have done so before, and just drilled 2.5mm holes for the shaft pins to go through to attach onto the bevel gears. Great trick.
  16. While I do agree with what you're saying. I still feel the kit just doesn't live up to the 30th anni. version. I know that being more expensive is never a good thing, but that being said, it's a mark of celebrating the 40th anniversary for the RC portion of the brand. I don't think most collectors would mind spending just a bit more cash, on a more polished up kit. In the end it's no big deal really considering I love tinkering around with a TA02 as much as the next person, just my 2 cents.
  17. Yeah I agree it's not really so "special" as someone think it would be. I wonder if using m chassis sized tires and wheels would help the wheelbase problem ? Only issue is you'd need wide m chassis rear wheels to help fill in that wide rear tread. Just thinking out loud. Are the gear boxes grey at least in the 84431 kit? Or did Tamiya skimp there as well on this "special" release lol
  18. Great photos, thanks for looking into Shodog. I guess this means let the mods begin! i wonder if it's possible to help achieve a more centered front wheel if the body is "raked". Sitting higher in the rear and lower in the front. Might also help to literally drop the front shocks as low as possible but yes I can see it is def a bit too short. Dang it Tamiya!
  19. I noticed that date stamp too when you posted the picture Shodog. But based on the photo of the built 84431 and the manuals build it does indeed look like it is the larger 236mm wheelbase. I guess the best way to know for sure is to wait and see until a few more people build their kits. Shodog what is the wheel base centre to centre of your 84431 body? Edit: Also i noticed the 49400 manual and the 84431 manual both list different part numbers for the body (shells alone) - not sure if that means anything, now this is a strange case we have here!
  20. Based on the manual it looks like you should be able to. The parts used are the same for the GT2 body (see attachment). From what I understand on tamiya'a site, the body from it 84431 has the larger wheelbase (same as the GT2) than the body from 49400. Evidenced by these photos of a new built 84431 (see attachment). Note that the height of the front of the body still needs to be adjusted properly and was done so purposely in the photo. But it is clear to see it has a wheelbase of 236mm and you can def achieve the look of the box art photo.
  21. Are you sure you're not placing the TA01 rear arms the opposite way? I don't mean to be upfront but just a quick though based on what you're explaining. The Rear arms facing the motor should be at 180 degree (flat), this gives the 236mm wheelbase you're looking for. Also there is a matching pair of rear upper control arms for the ta01 rear arms too. Be sure you're using those as well.
  22. They have arrived in Canada! Just picked one up but don't think I will be opening it very soon. This kit was part of a 4 unit pre-order. Three of them were gobbled up when preorders began back in June or so. And when the store recieved shiment, I was fortunate enough to be the one to grab it before someone else could lol! Alas they will be getting more in from what I undestand, so everyone can have their fun I'm curious if there is any special packaging on the inside. I doubt it tho (because i heard some parts rattling about) but would've been nice to be released like the style of the 49400, 30th Anni.
  23. Ciao Stefano, Quante costa per la kit e postale a ontario canada? grazie
