  1. Just wondering what are some of the best NIMH batteries that you guys have used that have Tamiya connectors and that will actually fit into models like the LB with no mods. Also just curious if the higher the mAh also means the physical size of the pack is larger? Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere on here.
  2. Thanks a million! It took me all of 5 seconds to fix. I just wasn't sure how plyable those terminals coming out from the motor would be. The world is now a better place! Thank you Willy Chang!!!
  3. Being a newbie I decided to go with the Sport Tuned motor instead of tackling brushless and lipos right away. I've got a Lunch Box that has just about all the upgrades mentioned on here. My question is the wire leads on the Sport tuned motor come straight out and are dangerously close to the inside of the right rear tire. Can these leads be bent upward where it's coming directly out of the motor, or do they need to be removed and new ones put on and re-soldered to where they are facing more upward than outward if that makes any sense? I'm praying I don't have to solder, as I have no soldering experience. Please HELP!!!!!
  4. I agree 100%. Tamiya is making more RTR to try to keep up with the mostly younger crowd but building a kit in my opinion is sometimes better than driving them. With that being said, I do feel Tamiya needs to go back to their roots, but also stay current with technology. For instance, maybe start releasing kits with a brushless motor and ESC included. I'm sure there are a ton of guys on here that have silver can 540's and Tamiya ESC's coming out their ears because they are swopping them out for brushless in every single build they do.
  5. Nice build! I'm getting ready to build one myself. One quick question. I'm trying to order bearings for mine right now. When I go to Ebay there are several people selling them but for some reason every seller has different quantities listed. From what I can gather there are a total of 16 bearings including the ones in the tranny. Is this correct? I found one seller that has all 16 listed, but they are all the same size. I thought 2 or 3 were a different size. Can you please inform me what is the correct number of bearings and their sizes?
  6. Very awesome! I'm getting ready to start one myself. It wasn't my first choice but my local hobby shop had one on the shelf for a while and I thought I could get a good deal on it. They sold it to me for $85!!! Couldn't get my wallet out fast enough!
  7. Thanks for all the help guys. I definately feel more like I've got a game plan now. Just as I have bought every hop-up option available, I just couldn't stand the thought of putting the old school 540 silver can in my builds. I wish Tamiya would start putting a brushless motor / esc combo in their kits.
  8. I was looking at the Hitec x1 touch. The reviews all seem good and only $99.
  9. That's perfect! Thank you so much for the reply.
  10. I recently have gotten back into RC after seeing that Tamiya had re-released all the kits I had as a kid. I've now got two Lunchbox's, The Frog, and a Blackfoot III. Since I am new getting back into the hobby I want to try to keep up with the new technology. With that being said, I've got just a question or two that I can't seem to find anywhere about which lipo to use with a brushless setup. I'm pretty sure that I will be ordering Novak motor and ESC. I like the fact that you can buy the motor and esc as a combo which takes a lot of the guess work out. My question is how do I decide which Lipo to run with it? I was looking into getting the Venom 7.4 Lipo batteries. I like that they come with the different plugs for Tamiya or Traxxas which eliminates having to solder on connecters. My question is how do I find out which mAh to get and I also don't under stand what 20C and 30C etc means? Sorry this may be a very basic question, but I still do not have a full grasp on understanding it all. It was so much easier 20 years ago! I also don't understand kv fully. Is there a kv to turns simple conversion out there?
