  1. Hi again TC!! After a period of time with no projects at all, I now have two!! An Astute (dream come true at last) I´ll be posting about soon and this Schumacher Cougar SV2 (pretty excited about it). I bought it on ebay from a former Schumacher racer with these mods: "Spaced the steering rack Longer svr front wishbones Big bore shocks with bleed screw caps and core springs . No leaks at all Hex conversion front and rear Wide track conversion Lower shock towers Always ran with shock tower protector on Few spare wishbones included 2 custom blitz painted shells . Forward cab used but vgc and std shell never used . Fitted with soft short chassis but std alloy longer chassis and another alloy +10 chassis included Top deck for longer chassis included Spare wings Car always maintained no dodgy screws or bent pins." Still waiting for it to arrive but she offered me some electronics if interested: "£70 for a dualsky 850 esc and 35 for a motor . Ive got saddle pack lipos that havnt done a great deal . Intellect ib5400 60c £35 . Prob some servos aswell." I paid £100 for the car and was thinking on buying her some more stuff but wanted to ask here first . What do you think of what she offers? I don´t want to show interest asking for more details (exact ESC, motor and servo) just in case I can negotiate . I will email her early next month but wanted to hear first what you can tell me about it all. Did I paid too much? Should I buy her more? Thank you TC!!!
  2. It reminds me of one in Madmax (III I think it was).
  3. I loved that steam lobster!! And the trilobite, and the Rover, and the Beetle, and the RS2S2, and the...
  4. Didn´t know exactly where to place this vid. It´s no other make at all
  5. And for those who want to see the car stripped... Breaking in the second engine.
  6. Here I leave some pics and a vid of the car I bought recently. I must say I had some problems with the original engine... The engineers decided to fit the cylinder on the crankcase with only two bolts and, obviously, it was not a very smart idea!! The result is that I ended up with two engines thanks to the Chinese people from HSP factory, who gave me the second one for free so now I´ve got plenty of spares for the engine . The pics were taking with the mobile phone, so they are not that good I´m afraid. I protected the cabin with some removable screen mesh. The bottle is 2L!! This one is after breaking in the second engine (check out the tires!) and with some stickers. And finally the aluminum exhaust pipe that came with the car as a hop-up. I think is beautiful enough to show: But I guess what you want is to see it in action. The vid corresponds to the final breaking in of the first engine (when it was still functioning). I think it runs pretty well considering it weights 16 Kg.!!
  7. Yes, sorry. I agree. I was thinking on the Frog... Whenever I see one I just can´t stop looking at it!!
  8. Hi. And welcome! Just a newbie too but as they tell you, ESC and Lipo won´t be a problem (I would change those engines too, I must say ). You can find a lot of Tamiya spares on ebay (maybe cheaper than buying the whole box. It always depends on what you need -and want- though) and in Tamiyaclub too. If you do a search on the forum I´m sure you will find lots of ideas for both restorations. And people here have not only tons of expierence but they´re kind enough to share it . By the way, I love that green color on the Frog!! Keep us updated.
  9. My one an only project up to now (just a newbie). Tamiya Madcap (runner):
  10. And now the vid I promised... If there is any Aussie watching: That is Galicia, Spain, not Northern Australia . I promise!!
  11. Thanks Quandry!! Nice surprise to see someone still read this one! In the next post I´ll try to show a vid I made. It´s quite bad and I promise to make a new one, but I´m just fighting with the flu so I can´t get out that much And hi Fruitfly01!!! you´re right. Almost disappeared but I´ve been struggling with a new 2 stroke engine 4WD 1:6 beast I bought . Just stopped here to see other guys adventures, hehe. Anyhow I did now and then a couple of things to my Madcap. Let me show: - First, a little fan for the engine. - After that I put e-clips on the front and rear arms (as you can see, Fruitfly01, I followed your tip using shavers to fill the gaps ). Maybe more exciting are the changes to the steering: - Better servo saver. - And, overall, the Manta Ray´s aluminum steering assembly kit (nice one I think ): It fitted well adjusting the tie rod. - I decided to follow the standard Tamiyaclub restoration procedures ( ) and went for the hi cap dampers as you saw. Although I had to find my own way to put them in place... I bought the dampers with no pieces to attach them to the car (cheaper though). - I also used an aluminum bar that came with the Manta Ray´s steering to secure the front tower (lucky it was just the size!!) - And finally I adapted an Astute´s undertray to protect the chassis (I had to change it though after a fatal crash . Thanks God I bought that cheap japanese Madcap for spares ). And that´s it I guess. I believe I´m done with this project. I hope you´ve liked it. I can tell I loved to refurb my old Madcap. Thanks to all the people here who kindly guided me, cause I must say I´m pretty happy with the final result and it wouldn´t have been possible without your help!!! My next project will be to find another 2WD to match this one on friendly races. Similiar performance, etc. Suggestions welcome!!
  12. Might be the first one but it´s impressive!
