I just got my old sand scorcher down from the loft and started stripping it down. Once I'd taken off the radio box off I noticed just how flimsy the fibreglass chassis plate was and it got me thinking about making a new plate out of alloy.
Has this been done before?
My dad took me to a shop (it wasn't even a model shop just a sports shop with a model section in it) and the guy behind the counter let me drive his own Holiday Buggy around the shop to see if I liked it, my parents bought me a Sand Scorcher (the one in my showroom) for christmas.
When I did mine I laid all the parts out going from left to right in the order that they fit then I used my digi camera to take a picture so I had something to refer back to when I put it back together.
Can you give me some details on the carson front shocks, I assume it lets you do away with the standard from damping, I just got my frog down from the loft and found that one of the lower arm pegs has snapped off some time in the past.
27 July 1971. I can't remember if the first car I saw run was a sand rover or a holiday buggy, I should remember considering the guy at the model shop let me drive it to see if I liked it as my parents were buying a sand scorcher for me.
As somebody that used to paint the games workshop figures I'll just add that after dry-brushing a watered down coat of ink (games workshops own brand) had a nice effect.
I'm in two minds wether to take the dampers from my tatty sand scorcher and put them on my much better condition hilux, I've no idea when the ss will be running again is it worth doing?
Some of the little screws that hold the hubs onto the axle have seized and the head has snapped of on one, so I was thinking of leaving them soaking in a tub but I didn't know what would be the best very light oil or wd40.
Can I add a question about this receiver, I recently got my old hilux down from the loft and tried using one of my 5 cell nimh packs that I used when I'm racing my buggy. Anyway it might as well have not been plugged in but when I plugged in the normal 4 cell pack it worked fine.
Any suggestions.
