Tell me about it... Was working on my Wheely class entry all Winter, and it has been outlawed Have to start from scratch.
At least my VQS is more or less ready to go, barely touched it since last years event, still has all the dirt on it

This weekend we will publish the time schedule for the race as well! Be prepared for a very busy weekend

To be honest, we were caught by surprise by this announcement of a free class, and our schedule is packed already. We encourage people to bring their vintage cars to the race, but run time will be limited to breaks and evenings. But, we're having at least 2 vintage races this year anyway

Just have a look on the last few pages of your manual, there is a listing of every single part used in the kit along with part numbers. With that part number, you should find it easily on google

The track and surface is tricky enough, staying on track and out of trouble is far more important, especially at the speeds possible with a Torque Tuned. And yes, I'll be running the VQS again, might have to work on the setup a little more, as I just put it together the night before last years race and didn't touch it since. But it's a very nice car to drive and another VQS came in 4th overall.
8 hours ago, ruebiracer said:From the German forum I know you made a 24t pinion in. Did you run it last year?
Yes, the 24 works fine, you can even fit a 25 in there, if you make a little more room for the pinion with the Dremel.

Thanks Was very happy to qualify for the A final, and just enjoyed the finals without further ambition.

Most of the Manta Rays will be running the speed gear set, and if you have any ambitions for the top 10, that's the way to go. But the track is challenging, top speed is only one of many factors there. Last year, a vintage Hot Shot made 3rd, even though it had a huge disadvantage on the straight. Drivers skills, setup, ... I came in 7th with my VQS, which was also slower than the Manta Rays

Glad you registered, can't wait to see everyone at the race
The system ist not very automated, I'm afraid. Just do the math and paypal the money to the address in the first post.Unfortunately, our "boss" is traveling at the moment, so it'll take another two weeks until you get the final confirmation of your registration if you are on the waiting list. But don't worry, you are in

Registration is online now and we already reached a predefined limit in the 4WD class. But don't worry, we will correct this as soon as our admin is back from vacation and accept every registration. Until than, you are on the waiting list, but will get a confirmation as soon as we're done.

3 minutes ago, Tamiyastef said:Will you also be there for the Tamico off road cup? Already looking forward to meet you in person
Yeah, of course, I will be there. Racing Retro 4WD with my VQS and the Wheelie class
4 minutes ago, Tamiyastef said:Do I need to register before the actual weekend to make sure I can participate?
Actually, I'm currently preparing the 'save the date" Facebook post for the event. I'll include the registration link, but it won't be active before March 1st (I think...). It would be great to register as early as possible, to give us a good idea how many people will attend, as we need to arrange catering, drinks, etc...
6 minutes ago, Tamiyastef said:Do I need a transponder for this race? If yes can I rent that at the track? If so how big is the transponder thing and can it be attached with double sided sticky tape or do I need a transponder stay of some sorts?
Yes, you do! Unfortunately, you need a Mylaps RC4 or RC4 Hybrid for our timing system and they don't come cheap. We don't rent them out, but maybe the guys from Tamico will bring a few extra. If everything fails, I have one spare, if you bring enough Belgium beer And they are tiny, some velcro is good enough and you can switch them easily from car to car.
11 minutes ago, Tamiyastef said:Is the track in or near a low emission zone?
No, but 2 EV charging stations are a 5 minute walk away
11 minutes ago, Tamiyastef said:Is there a camping or camper space nearby?
You can set up your camper/tent right next to the track if you let us know early enough. Electricity is available, showers as well
17 minutes ago, Tamiyastef said:suspension setup, pinion sizes and tire choices
soft for better grip / pinion as big as possible / any Tamiya stock tire will do, except the Dual Block

I´m also checking to visit a Tamico offroad event this year, and Kinzigtal would be my favorite! It is a super cool dirt track with some astro turf sections but not too silly jumps, much like the 80´s and 90`s tracks from my youth. You can see some pics on their homepage, here´s a pic:
They even have a glass bridge, very cool. I´ve to search some footage of last year, it looked so nice. But also more than 300km´s from my home, altough I´m located in south of Germany.
Kind regards,
Matthias
This is my home track, let me know if you need any infos

I love all those rear motor cars, as I race a very modified Associated RB10 on a very loose clay track and they handle much better than those modern race buggies.
But, I guess those buggies are not made for guys like me. They are probably created for people who want a buggy, something better than a DT-03 for casual driving in the park, where modern mid-motor cars just don't perform - and are way too expensive

I run a Trackstar 370 5500kv motor with a Hobbywing 16BL30 ESC. Before, I had a cheap GoolRC esc, but that was horrible. The Hobbywing is much smoother.
Once you upgrade your motor, I'd suggest to get the Yeah Racing or Tamiya axles as well

Best and most surprising deal for me:
since years I'm on the hunt for a PB Mini Mustang. But they never show up on Ebay Germany, and even if they do internationally, prices are crazy. So, last year, on a Saturday morning, drinking coffee, I just placed an search add with a picture of a PB in the local classifieds. More or less for fun, never expected any result.
2 hours later, my phone rings, a guy is telling me that he has that car in the pic. Of course you do, I thought, and asked for pictures. Expecting to see some toy grade stuff. Pictures arrives and shows a dirty but complete Mini Mustang with a 2 speed, plus a MK 1 Grasshopper with a new Parma body
I call the guy back, asking how much he wants for all this... He said, maybe around 30 Euro? I nearly pass out, ask for shipping as well. He doesn't understand at first, why I would like to ship. After all, he lives in a village 3 minutes away from my house and could drive by.
One hour later, I held the old cars in my hand, gave the guy a 50 and sold the Grasshopper off for 60 Euro a week later

3 hours ago, Bugged out said:I replaced the stock pinion for a steel like for like (I think 19t 32dp)
With a faster motor, you shouldn't go for a larger pinion at all. Also, your 32dp pinion is not the required metric m0,8. They are close, but probably not close enough
