In my experience, NiMHs act as a natural limiter with powerful motors, as they cannot deliver as much juice as the motor might want. With Lipos this is not the case anymore and the current could be much higher, in most cases too high for the cheap Tamiya connectors.
First thing I do with my electronics is the conversion to appropriate connectors, like Deans

Hi there,
As soon as I got my FAV kit along with the FAV Aluminium Damper Set together, I noticed the incredible hard spring setup for the rear. I read a few similar comments in this forum and in general people switched to Frog shocks, but I wanted to make the set work.
After very little math and a lot of guess work, I've ordered some springs and found some that would be working well - but had to be cut down a little. Technically it's working well, but still bugs me to see those springs.
So, I contacted the manufacturer again and they would produce a batch of custom springs to my specifications, but in order to get the price down I would have to order 20 pieces.
I would love to go ahead and get some soft and medium springs done, but before I spend this kind of money I'd like to ask if there is some interest from other re-FAV/Wild One owners to buy the extra springs I won't need. My cost is about 10 Euro plus shipping (from Germany) for one spring and I don't any point to make a profit.
If I get enough people, I might consider getting them done
Cheers

Made the front supspension of my FAV a little better by fitting 4 850 bearings on each side of the swing arms

Sold my NIB Yokomo YZ-10 World Champion Special Mark Pavidis (stupid, I know, but the money was great) to get restarted with this hobby and got:
Losi 22
Losi Night Crawler
Redcat Sumo Micro Crawler (now with carbon chassis, brushless out runner and more)

Finally managed to set up the FAV hop up shocks the way they should be... Up front I got the thinnest oil I could find and opened up the pistons a little, the rear got 400cps oil and softer springs I ordered from an online spring shop based on some very rough (and surprisingly good) calculations.

Did some math the other day and today I got new softer springs for the hop up shocks of my FAV

Painted the Knight Customs engine, added Axial lights and started to build a roof for the FAV

I tried the old GPMs and the ones they released last year and with both I wasn't able to achieve the steering angles I wanted, due to the shafts hitting the c hubs
And the GPMs snapped, couldn't handle the 400W outrunner

Just found this build and want to add my 2 cents...
The alloy gard is pretty but won't do any good. The 2 other items are money well spent
XV Pilot did most of the things I did on my highly modified CC, but if you're upgrading steering and shocks, you should get universals for the front to avoid the dog bones popping out. Just don't go for the GPM universals, as their pivot is not alligned with the pivot of the knuckle and they will hit the C-Hub.
Get yourself Tamiya parts 53501 and 53522, it'll make a huge difference. In the pic, Tamiya parts are on top, GPM below

Got back into the hobby with a modern day Losi and although I realy appreciate brushless motors, Lipos and ghz transmitters, modern race cars seem so perfect and refined, so I lost interest very quickly again. So I got some old Tamiya and rediscovered the fun of building, modding, etc

While I was out on a business trip for a few days, this little box was waiting patiently on my door step
In it, my new FAV, hop up shocks and a bearing set. Hope to get started on Monday when the goodies from Toykid's Shapeways store arrive

Trf201 or tlr 22

I raced the TLR 22 for a couple of years and while it's a fantastic, solid car overall, the steering is terrible. Building it was fun, especially as you have the choice of mid or rear engine config. I would guess the £99 kit is not the latest 2.0 version which has much better steering hardware, but the parts will fit in the original 22.
