  1. Which one should I build first though ?
  2. Love LEGO (it's always wrong to put an 'S' on the end btw...). I got the 850 Technic Fork Lift Truck when I was 10 and the 871 / 8710 Supplementary Sets to go with it. The big box of assorted 'normal' LEGO that I shared with my brother was given to his kids a few years ago. He wasn't having my Technic stuff though. A few years ago I saw an advert on the noticeboard at work with someone selling some Technic kits, including the 8480 Space Shuttle. So I bought that off him, built it up and compiled a list of missing parts as I went, sourced all of those from BrickLink and finished it. I'm keeping that one too. Fibre Optics ! Bought myself the 8051 Motorbike a couple of years back for a project, and the missus bought me the big 8110 Unimog earlier this year, which I haven't opened yet. Going to do it over Christmas. Incidentally, she started collecting the minifigures a while back and now has 300+. Whenever anyone comes round, they always ask about our children. We don't have any...
  3. Since I got access to the forum, I've never even looked at the other bit, so I don't know what I'm missing out on.
  4. Ha ! Speed Buggy was my alternative idea after the Apocalypse theme lost. Loved that cartoon as a kid. I found a Speed Buggy soft toy in a Warners Bros shop about 20 years ago and he's sat on my 1:1 dashboard ever since. Glad I dropped out now. I wouldn't have done it justice. Looking forward to this a lot. How are you going to make him paw the ground and make the spluttery engine noises ?
  5. Bike club I'm a member of did it a few years ago. Members sent in a pic of their bike, everyone voted for their favourite one, the top 12 were then used and a calendar printed. I got March : http://kr250.org/tzr/TZR_68_big.jpg It's as much about the photo as the subject, I've seen some stunning RC pics on here though so looking forward to the end result.
  6. How come I've never read this before ? Brilliant thread, very inspiring.
  7. Dunno why I never bought one first time round. Too busy playing with the real thing I suppose. Still fancy one. Much prefer an RGV or YZR to the H*nda though.
  8. Looks great. 250-mile round trip for me, will see what time I wake up Saturday and whether I can face the drive or not.
  9. Me too. Serves me right for not voting, but I'd clicked the link before I realised that disabled my vote. However, I really like this and I'm really looking forward to seeing what people dream up. The rules seem spot-on to me, it's all about fun. I have a couple of planned builds already, but if I can come up with a new idea for this then I'll join in if I can. There might be a pretty easy one relating to my all time favourite TV programme...
  10. I just buy what I fancy. Same goes for motorbikes. Doesn't make me a "collector" just because I have quite a few. Collectors strive to complete a set of something and I don't understand buying something you don't like just because you don't have one yet. I've bought a WW2 and a KingCab recently because I really liked them both back in the day but never bought them. There's a couple of others I want in the same way but that'll be it.
  11. Even if he's typed an extra zero on the end of the price by mistake, I still can't excited about it.
  12. Are the tyres on backwards ?
  13. Lot of lucky/spoilt people on here ! I'll be very grateful indeed if Santa brings me a new Lunchbox bodyshell.
  14. Never fancied a CR-01. Until I saw this.
  15. I didn't vote 'cos I wasn't planning to join in. But I was planning a Christmas rebuild anyway, and one of the themes might well tie in with my plans...
  16. Sorry for the delay. Just measured my Kyosho shell : 273mm wheelbase, width 238mm front, 250mm rear, all measured between the tops of the arches. Hope this helps.
  17. Great, love to read stuff like this. I've recently dug out my original '89 Pumpkin and driven it for the first time in at least 10 years. MSC, 27Mhz and NiCad's rule ! I'm similarly out of date with all the current technology, but I've decided to leave my old truck exactly as it is and rediscover the hobby again with a brand-new build. Lipo's are a stretch too far for me yet, but I'll be embracing 2.4Ghz, ESC, NiMh, LED's and all of the various hop-up and bespoke upgrades you can read about on here.
  18. It's Issue 138, December 2014, on UK shelves for the next 3 weeks or so. Cover is "60 years of the D-Type" but it says 'Tamiya Models' on the front too. Feature is pages 104-108. Think there's a downloadable digital issue somewhere.
  19. I've just read this entire thread from the beginning. I love how excited everyone's got and all the debate over the exact spec differences and details. Stuff like this makes this a great site. Personally, to me it just looks like Every Other Buggy...
  20. There's no difference for me, other than the sums of money involved and the need to find greater space to keep a new one. In both cases I'm buying stuff I wanted when I was younger but couldn't or didn't buy back then. Do I need it ? No. Can I ride/drive more than one at once ? No. I don't have to justify a new purchase to anyone else though. As a spin-off benefit, both of 'em are likely to increase in value if and when I eventually choose to sell them, though investment is definitely not the point, desire is.
  21. Anyone else buy Octane ? Great magazine, even though it's full of serious kit I'll never be able to aspire to. Latest issue has a feature on Tamiya models, particularly RC. Journo (and fan-boy) flies to the factory to interview his heroes.
  22. Will do that when I get chance bjorklo. Quoted kit wheelbase is 273mm, which is only 3mm less than the ZX-Sport chassis I put it on.
  23. Hmm. Got a secondhand WW2 and a NIB Unimog that I've got specific plans for, but might see what the theme is and join in. Was planning to do one or other over the break anyway.
  24. Kit says 1:10, but shell does seem quite big. I've still got the remaining Eggenberger decals but built mine as a road car.
  25. It is very misleading and I can see why some people might be disappointed. Personally though I love the cartoonish-look of the original Lancia Rally (and Quattro/Ascona), like a Monster Truck rally car. Not interested in the later much-more-realistic 037 kit at all. As for the best box-art : Lunchbox and Pumpkin every time.
