Bottle of Autosmart Tardis arrived, for my attempt to salvage my badly-painted shell. I've not opened the bottle yet just the external packaging, but the house has filled with noxious fumes already and the bottle is now stashed at the end of the garden.

Your wife hates clutter mate, especially all your toy car nonsense...

No, it's the WR-02 VW Bus, usually known as the '23 window'... I should have looked for an XB one.

I saw someone I know advertising a NIB kit for sale, one I've fancied for a while. It arrived today. Bearing in mind my recent problems with cutting/masking/painting a fairly-simple polycarbonate shell, which is the stupidest kit I could have gone for ?...
-
Just ordered some of that Autosmart Tardis stuff (Tamiya cleaner too difficult to source it appears), will give it a go at the weekend.
-
Had a quick look on here and elsewhere for some, seems to be difficult to obtain in the UK?
-
Peeled the masking off today, couple of areas of overspray including some under the outer film. Looks terrible. 50/50 whether I try and recover it or just stamp on it and buy another Lunchbox shell instead.

If it was my shop I'd be thinking the same way to be honest... So fair enough you can't solder, but you should still have checked everything was wired up properly before you plugged it in. Even after it went pop you could still have confirmed the polarity, or even just taken a photo so we could help check it on here. Giving it straight back to the shop means we'll never really know what the problem was now.

Building a track for vintage/re-re fun

Think about adding some simple shortcuts, so you end up with a variety of possible circuits depending on how you configure it. -
What is the #1 thing you hate about Tamiya?
StrokerBoy replied to Ann3x's topic in General discussions
Not exclusive to Tamiya, but I really hate polycarbonate shells. Cutting them out, masking them, painting them, looking at them when they're done, the lot. Can't really say much more or the forum swear-filter will burst into flames. -
Masked up my Unimog shell for painting. Hated every last miserable second of it, as I did the cutting out. Whoever first came up with polycarbonate shells had better hope we don't bump into each other.

30-year-old MSC on my Pumpkin does that...

Not all of this. Just the most important bits at the bottom left. Thanks Grastens !

And they've arrived ! Thanks very much Grastens for letting me have them.

What cars do you all drive?

I took 3 of 'em to the Endurance Legends weekend at Donington. I took the Suzuki out for 4 (flat-out) parade laps, the Yamaha won 3rd Best 80's bike, and multiple World Champion Freddie Spencer spotted the Honda and jumped on board. I've had worse weekends. -
Part number 53345 for the uprights, then fit them the opposite way round. Wheels/tyres were off Ebay, can't remember the seller - they're hard plastic 'tyres' for drifting. Proper 935 wheels/tyres might be better.
-
Standard Lowride Pumpkin, apart from cheap big-offset BBS-ish drift wheels/tyres, hop-up rear uprights (to correct toe-in), wider hexes and silver springs on rear, and additional thin spacers on front wheels. Body has slightly trimmed front arches, extra holes filled, the rollbar mounts removed, cut-down posts, proper FORD tailgate and V8 grille from my 1989 MP spares, Shapeways 3D-printed rear lights and a wooden bed.

I think I've posted some of my motorbikes on here before somewhere. I like Japanese grey-imports, particularly 2-strokes (hence the username). Oddball stuff that people don't know about or at least have never seen. 'Gag bikes' fit that bill, and I have 4 (actually 2 of 'em belong to my wife). They're half-size versions of more mainstream models, fully road-legal and faster than you'd think. Hilarious, especially if there's a few of you all out on them together. I dragged them all out of the shed at the weekend to prep them for a show. -
Ta. Yeah, I plan to do the metal strips in the bed somehow, and there's a few details on the body still to be painted. It'll get lights too, maybe even a driver.

Nothing as cool as bloodstains on your build manual...
-
I picked up my abandoned Lowride Pumpkin build and threw it all together. Still doesn't look like I imagined when I bought it, but it'll do for now.
-
I parked this build as it wasn't really doing it for me. Recently I got sick of seeing it sat in pieces all over the garage, so I've thrown it all together. It still doesn't look like it did in my head, but I need to move on. It'll do for the shelf for now. Spec is standard Lowride Pumpkin, apart from cheap big-offset BBS-ish drift wheels/tyres, hop-up rear uprights and wider hexes, silver springs on rear, and additional thin spacer on front wheels. Body has slightly trimmed front arches, extra holes filled, the rollbar mounts removed, cut-down posts, proper FORD tailgate and V8 grille from my 1989 spares, Shapeways 3D-printed rear lights and a wooden bed. Obviously the big front bumper went in the same bin as the standard kit wheels. I so wanted it to work with the HPI Vintage wheels but they just don't sit right, even with various permutations of spacers.
