  1. VW Wheelie Bus, re-re Brat plus a NSR500 HOR. And a couple of additional bodyshells.
  2. You could build a non-functioning wrecker to start with, that looks the part but doesn't actually do anything. Then you could automate it later if you still like it. Or something like this :
  3. Me too. Seen all the parts separately on Ebay but quickly adds up to where you might as well buy a CC01 and then sell the chassis.
  4. Method 4, no brainer.
  5. Hmm. Somehow I never got round to adding my Fuzzbox to this thread, now that I actually qualify for it. The Unimog kit turned into this, then I bought another new LB kit (minus wheels, tyres and body) to finish the 'Mog. Yeah, I know.
  6. Never realised what a massive front overhang this has until now. Was in two minds whether or not to enlarge the arches when I start my Lancia Rally tribute, but definitely will now.
  7. I look forward to seeing it. I hope it turns out great. I guess I've been spoiled by accurate Tamiya bodies. Personally I just can't get past those that look like they've partially melted or are being looked it in a fairground wobbly mirror. Even my Kyosho RS500 shell offends me a bit from certain angles, though it's better than most. Good job we're all different innit ?
  8. Or a CW-01. My money's waiting.
  9. A LEGO Ford Mustang. Despite the sturdy packaging, the postman appears to have backed his van over it a couple of times. "Royal Mail Second Class" ? I should say so.
  10. Polycarbonate shells. Cutting, masking, painting, hurling them into the bin...
  11. Good idea(s). Funny how all my builds always still have a job or two remaining on the 'to-do' list...
  12. I put a sheet of 1mm ply in my Pumpkin, lightly oiled it to bring the grain out. The plan was to add thin metal strips (or tape) to make it look like proper slatted bed, but, erm, I never got round to it...
  13. I knew it would be good. Lovely job.
  14. Well, I'm enjoying seeing your posts, and they're making me want to start my own 037 build. I share your frustration, I cannot do paint as well as I ought to be able to, but the joy of a proper ABS shell is that any disaster is only a temporary one.
  15. Love the HPI Vintage dished 5-spokes, but they're a fraction too big for the LP and I've not found a proper home for them yet.
  16. Both of these sound ace by the way. A new project starts forming in my head...
  17. Is there an 037-based people-carrier variant I'm not familiar with ? Or are you building a King Red in Martini livery ?
  18. You have my sympathy, I sprayed my Lowride Pumpkin the same shade and was shocked at how badly it covered everything. A black shell, with white plasticard mods and grey filler - i thought red would just cover it but it took many many coats before all the differences were (mostly) hidden. Next time I'll use primer of course. We're all super-critical of our own work. I very nearly lobbed my Unimog shell in the bin, though now have to admit it looks OK actually. It'll get there. And I'm enjoying the updates.
  19. The Unimog is the one that sucked me back into this hobby 5 years ago. The Fuzzbox is the one I'm most proud of. But the Pumpkin is my original one from 1989 and the only one I'll never get rid of.
  20. Just spent 10 minutes hovering over the BuyItNow button for a King Yellow, ultimately decided I need to finish what I've already got instead of buying more. Very tempting, but not tempting enough.
  21. it's difficult. We all want a genuine Stratos or a SWB quattro Sport but it's never going to happen. But then there are a lot of poor quality and frankly pathetic 'replicas' out there. My own view is that kits/replicas/recreations have a valid place as long as 1) they're a reasonable attempt to capture the full ethos of the original, and 2) they're not being passed off as genuine. I saw a V12 Jag-powered Daytona Spyder replica at a show once, it looked spot on, it sounded right too but the owner was very proud that he'd built it and was not attempting to convince anyone he owned a Ferrari. He had about £50K in it too. Can't fault that. Driving a 1.6-powered plastic 'Countach' with all the proportions way off is very sad though. Go for it with the 1:1 037 pastiche Grastens, I know you'll do it right. Just make sure you have some "NO37" badges made up for it so everyone knows you have your tongue firmly in your cheek !
  22. I've got a small workbench in the garage but it's covered in motorbike parts, plus it's too cold and cluttered to work in there for more than 10 minutes. So I use our kitchen table with a TRF work mat on it, plus a cutting board where necessary. Unfortunately, the kitchen table is also my work desk, so Mon-Fri there are 3 laptops preventing any model making (or eating for that matter). We're trying to move house soon with a view to solving all of these problems.
  23. Not tried it for this, but I've had good results with Plastex for repairing 'plastic' motorbike panels and filling gaps. Basically a solvent and some powder.
