  1. Well I am back again.... Looks like I am “working from home” for a while so I brought my Bush Devil 11 display home from work to build. I have a few other projects to finish as well. Where is best for photo hosting now. Photobucket almost killed off my enthusiasm for projects on here and then Flickr started down the same path so I sort of lost interest. Documenting keeps me interested in a project because I feel like I am failing if I do not keep it up so who is the best hosting now please
  2. I only joined 5 years ago according to my profile. That is a lot of cars and money spent in a short period of time 🤣
  3. I could never quite find a place for one. The rear suspension set up is so compromised I never felt happy with it, and I had done every mod and hop up. Good fun to build, it was my last big parts order before Banzai got kicked out of the Tamiya market.
  4. I logged in again. Realised it has been almost a year since I have charged a battery or touched a controller. I need to do something about that....
  5. eBay has saved a lot of hobbies. I can get vintage bike parts that were unavailable 20 years ago because they were in someone’s shed and they had no way of finding a buyer. There will always be people asking the earth for junk but you mostly see it listed over and over again because no one will pay it. An item is only worth what people will pay, if you are complaining because parts now cost the maximum of what you will pay rather than a fraction of that then, unfortunately, that is the way markets work. If they have it and you will pay then it sells, if you will not pay but someone else will then it sells. People seem a little bitter because the seller is now getting the best price for their item. A wider market has pushed costs up because we are all chasing an ever decreasing quantity of stuff and competing with an ever increasing amount of people who want it. If you think RC is bad then look at the vintage bike market. Cars are out of reach for the middle range investors so bikes are the new favourite. Money is making nothing in the bank so people are buying “stuff” instead.
  6. Road tax, servicing, tyres... Worth £5 a day not to have to use a bus. Multi model controllers are great if they have enough room to put in a full model name and you can remember which car it relates to. I was swapping and rebuilding that often that I could not remember which car was listed as what in the controller
  7. Never had an issue with them to be honest. Loads of bits and batteries over the years with no hassle. Website is hard work and UK postage is over kill but no worse than others
  8. Welcome The CC01 can have as little or as much done as you want. My advice is sort the steering and then just drive. Save the hopup money for your next build. Enjoy
  9. I have those Judy Race forks on my old Kona
  10. I got £35 back from Banggood so it is about on value for me now. Not decided if I will try and rescue the gearbox now or try something else
  11. I have stripped mine and it is a POS Have a look here for me stripping mine
  12. A very light restore without destroying the patina will add value and also make sure you are selling something with no broken parts. A little modern heat shrink on the wires would do no harm. Have a go before you sell, you might end up “investing” the money in newer kits
  13. Hay and fate would have it my iPad just did them same thing!!!!!
  14. But posting twice will get everyone after you Only honest opinions on here and 99% are nice, even when you ask for criticism.

  16. A good example is the SCX10. You can see from this photo that the lower links go from what would be the spring mounts to the center and links from the “pumpkin” go to the outer.
  17. No just crocodile clips for a car type battery. I guess it could be adapted but I only have LiPo so have not tested it fully.
  18. Still FS
  19. £5 posted before it heads for the bin?
  20. Chav tastic:-) just needs a dustbin exhaust hanging out the back at it will look like a real one.
  21. I could be tempted to put this back on sale
  22. I had not noticed what I can now see in the previous post so I thought I would quickly strip and clean the gearbox So far so good This has to be some of the worst monkey metal casting I have ever seen Bearings throughout Those little black cogs are very loose on the bearings to the point I would guess the bearings are doing nothing I had to drill out two more fittings. It was on the way to the garage I noticed the huge crack in the end plate. I am guessing something did not fit so they just tightened some more. I have the rest of the box in bits now but I did not take any more pictures. I will just leave you with the bearing fit in the hub At this point I do not feel this model is worth the asking price. It might look like a Bruiser but I am guessing if the real ones were made like this then Tamiya would have gone bust long ago.
  23. So axles are off and time to work on getting the gearbox out. The axles we very loose and sloppy, nothing was done up correctly Gearbox mounts are so tight I round the hex trying. I then struggle with mole grips they are that tight Luckily they just pull through the rubber mounts and it can get the heads in the vice outside So I thought I had got over the worst of it Look again at the gearbox picture about and tell me what you see...
  24. So wheels damaged but off. Look at the angle of tha screw Electronics are not exactly cutting edge and you need to cut the switch off to remove the lid The tape holding the RX down was stronger than the RX! Servos look bargain basement but then they would for this price.. The servo savers are interesting And I found out where some of the steering slop cam from Normaly I just grab the links with a pair of smooth jaw pliers and pop them off, never has on split like this Coming to remove the electrics box I come across another rounded fitting, this will become a recurring theme I was wondering about the packing oil all over the place. I thought it was maybe to keep it from rusting on the boat over, I later realised it was was all the oil out of all 4 shocks that had escaped. Removing the front end one screw had stripped the threads in the chassis and one was not even in a hole at all, it just bent the plastic. Thinking maybe this was a 10 to 4 Friday build. Not just chewed up hex’s, Philips as well
