  1. Nobbi's build thread inspired me to purchase a DT03, I've never looked back. Great value and fantastic car to bash around with. I'll be following this thread, I'm curious to see the differences between the buggy and truck versions with some detail.

  2. That's because that belt has never run. I bought it years ago when they were priced the same as a black belt.

I built this particular chassis as a shelf queen from spares I had and eBay finds I just couldn't pass up. In hindsight, I could've probably purchased a used PRO version with hop ups for less, but it was fun building it up and hunting down elusive parts. In all black plastics it looks fantastic. The black J parts battery holder was the toughest to find. Jason's store to the rescue.

  3. My first post in this thread, so I hope this one is worthwhile.

Today I received what I believe to be an early version TA04 R and then some (not the later one with SSG bits), or a heavily hopped up chassis. Either way I think the eBay gods were smiling upon me when I saw this pop up.

She's in need of a full tear down rebuild and a few bits and bobs to make it complete, but there's a lot of meat left on these old bones for sure.

Had it delivered to my work, so needless to say: I'm having a great day.

  4. Arguments can be made either way.

I placed a bid on an item. I was the only bidder for 6 days. I got outbid in the final second of the auction. I was so sure it was mine, in the final minutes that I didn't raise my bid since there'd been a week of nothing. I have to admit I was a bit peeved. I'd bid on it early on thinking others would too and I would raise my bid towards the end, but I never got the chance.

  5. Looks slick regardless! Nice work!

It is even better-looking than my brand-new Spektrum DX4C radio that I just learned is incompatible with DSM receivers, which all my models run :( Anybody want a 4-channel radio?!

I encountered this a few weeks back. I think I might have even mentioned it in this thread. Apparently the early firmware versions were backwards compatible, but they made no mention of this on their site. But the manual that came with mine says DSM2 and DSMR only [emoji53] I found a few used 3100 receivers on ebay. I mostly wanted a second transmitter to run two models at once anyways.
  6. Classic upper deck hop up:

    Newer version:

Both reinforced the servo and braced the front half of the chassis to sharpen steering response. There may have been a chassis variant that included an upper deck, but I'm not sure. Either way, you can find either on eBay at reasonable prices.

  7. You can apparently get hex adapters for the fronts. I've got a set on the way to try for myself.

This opens up wheel options quite a bit. Unfortunately all my favorite tamiya wheels are 2". Though it may have been a standard size once upon a time, tire options today are quite limited. Egress spike tires/hotshot oval block tires are about the extent of your choices.
