Thats my old landy that I am stripping down ready for a rebuild, made the perfect spray table lol!
-
Well heres some small update pics. All the panels for the trailers have now been sprayed. So at the moment I am constructing the boxes. Little bit more work then the previous box trailer design! Ant
-
Spent this evening building up the 2nd chassis, surprising how much easier it is second time round
-
Small update, The parts for the second trailer and volvo have been sprayed now. Next plan is to build the chassis for the 2nd trailer. Then its time to sort out the side panels on both trailers. Ant
-
Yep got it in one
-
Me too. Whilst I am waiting for the graphics to be sorted at work, I have started trailer number 2 This will be done pretty much box art and finally after 3+ years the volvo will get a paint scheme! Ant
-
Just added the side panels on to see what it will look like! This trailer certainly has alot of presence!! Ant
-
Right done a bit more tonight. Fitted the bed onto the trailer. Larger holes in bed means no more fitting the kigpin plate and leg motor after the bed goes on. Some comparison pics of the flatbed and reefer. Next job is going to be to spray the panels. Ant

The panels should be good to take paint, as they are ABS panels. Will be finding this out thou when I spray the trailer to match the cab The blue strip has to painted on if doing box art (which is how my second trailer will be built) On the first page I took a pic of all the graphics included Ant

I might, once I have done some testing to see if this works well. Which will be at the peterborough truckfest in a couple of weeks. Right here is a few more build pics. Wheels, wheel arches and the under chassis storage have now been fitted. The storage unit has been sprayed up to match the rig that will be towing this trailer which is my Merc 1838. What a pain I run out of TS11 so this will have to do until the spray comes back into stock! On the back of the merc, having a test run! The result of this test means I have to make a circuit that sits on channel 5 so I can turn off the servo when reversing. I have got some other ideas on making the servo work from the fifth wheel, this needs some work thou! Next step is the body build. This is differant to the rest of the trailers in that the kingpin plate and motorised legs fit to the chassis and have large holes in the bed of the trailer so it just drops over in a complete box. The sides and roof on this trailer are also made from ABS rather then ali like on the box trailer. Ant

Been awhile since my last update, However I have been working on the rear steering axle. After a couple of designs the final outcome works a treat Using a Naro HP servo the bracket attaches to the axle using the tabs. Uses the stock steering arm that would normally be used to lock the axle straight. I also designed a custom servo arm that holds the 3mm ball connector. The bracket is made from polypropelene. The servo is mounted so that it turns opposite direction to that on the cab which uses a standard futaba servo. Now to carry on with the build. Ant

Not sure, I have got 2 off these trailers so most likely one will be the box art livery and one custom Ant

Right heres some comparison pictures of the axles and wheels. Axle comparison new top, older style below New super single with standard tyre. New super single with standard twin wheels. Axle Lineup These new axles are certainly a great addition to the tamiya trailer lineup. Going to be seeing some interesting custom builds I reckon! Ant
-
Yep the steering axle is part of the kit, however in the instructions it builds it with the axle locked off. Ant
-
Heres some more pics of the axle assemble on to the chassis rails. This part of the build actually gets quite fiddle and make sure to look closely at the instruction to make sure all the brackets are located correctly The next step is to try and work out how to mount the servo to axle to beable to have a rear steering axle! Ant

The axle casing is 140.5mm long and overall it's 176.5mm, some pictures of the differances will follow shortly. Ant
-
Well the trailer arrived this morning and this evening made a start. So far I Have seen some great parts in this kit for future projects! The sticker sheet is neat with you being able to make your own number plates up!! Heres some pics: All screws out of the bags. Far right spru is the orignal trailer spru, so this means you get 2 spares axle casing for the older trailers! Number plate markings. Rear steering axle. This will be working using a Naro HP servo. Compleated axles. Thats it for this evening to step 4, will hopefully continue tomorrow evening. Ant

Yep I will be there hopefully with my new reefer trailer Ant
