The ball diffs are neat, but IMO you are better off with a tranny brace and the gear diff. If you want to use dogbones, use Tamiya #50300 cups with Thorp DBs and axles. IMO... YMMV... Terry

So that kinda depends on how or what you use to attach to the steering knuckles and the servo saver, and also what kind of servo saver you use. Here are my recommendations: 1. Find and buy the connectors that you want to use. In my case, I like the "ball links", or the ball ends that have the metal ball embedded (something similar to this: https://tinyurl.com/ykjavsam) 2. Find and buy the servo and servo saver you want to use. Install how you want. 3. Install your choice of connectors to the servo saver. Install connectors to steering knuckle. 4. Eye ball "center" for everything and (using measuring tape or calipers), measure the length of rod you will need between each set of connectors. 5. Go to your local hardware store and buy some cheap threaded rod. Cut to length. Cut new / cut short as needed. 6. Once you figure out what length threaded rod you need, look for Turnbuckles in the approx. same length. Longer is better, you can trim some of the excess rod if you have to. I've tried all kinds of connectors and rods and turnbuckles. The "heavy duty" plastic ones work well (no need for fancy metal ones), and I love Lunsford T-Buckles, but I don't think they are in business anymore... Terry

You would have a standard Blackfoot/Monster Beetle transmission... Notes that I took for myself a few years ago: ---------------------------- Blackfoot Counter: 52T outer, 17T inner Blackfoot Diff: 48T Frog Counter 01: 49T outer, 18T inner (high speed) Frog Counter 02: 50T outer, 18T inner (standard) Frog Counter 03: 52T outer, 18T inner (Torque) Frog Diff: 47T Thorp Counter (standard): 52T outer, 18T inner (Thorp #4520) Thorp Counter (overdrive): 48T outer, 18T inner (Thorp #4530) Thorp Diff: 47T (Throp #4506) The Blackfoot Counter, the Frog Counter 03, and the Thorp Counter (standard) are all 52T and are the same diameter. The Frog 50T is slightly smaller, with the 49T being smaller still... The 18T Frog and the Thorp Counter inner gears are the same diameter. The 17T BF inner is slightly smaller... The 47T Frog and the Thorp Diff are the same diameter, and the 48T BF is slightly larger. The Frog and BF gears are the same thickness, and the Thorp are slightly thicker. IMO, the Thorp system is a clone of the Frog stuff... and that the 17T is slightly smaller to accommodate the slightly larger 48T Diff on the BF... It solves the riddle of why each set of gears is marked with the car! You wouldn't want to put a BF Counter on a Frog Diff! That said, the Thorp stuff should plug-and-play with the Frog stuff... -----------------------------

No the alloy gear is meant for the BF diff gear.

The og brat had no diff but those parts are hens teeth. Thorp made a “puller” diff that was locked.

Take your time. Do one upgrade and drive. See and feel the difference. Decide if you like. Then do the next upgrade. Prolong the fun and spread out the expense.

If you decide to use a different pinion from the kit supplied 10t brass and motor mount, you’ll want to find an Adjustable Motor Mount and then use the Thorp extra long pinions.

These are likely reproductions of the Parma zero bump steer knuckles.

I recently picked up a parts lot on FB and these were in it. Can you identify??? 1. These appear to be #53218. They are the same except for the silver finish on two. They are 25mm long with 11mm OD cup. 2. These appear to be Thorp dogbones based on the finish and the fact that the parts lot had several other Thorp items. They are 49mm pin to pin. 3. Pair of axles. These are 35mm long. 4. Single axle. This one is 40mm long. thank you!!! Terry
