Thanks for the help guys, I'm on a fast learning curve at the moment. Only got back into RC in the last couple of weeks, and things have changed a lot in the 20 years i have been away...!!
Got to get my head around lipos and brushless yet!!
Just purchased a 2.4 ghz set to give it a try. I think I'll fit it in the pumpkin that is in the post, and get another for the lunchbox....

I'm using a 27 MHz system, maybe I should look into upgrading. What's involved....? Is it just a new transmitter and receiver...?

Just spent an hour tightening up everything that shook loose on the new lunchbox. I used thread lock this time on all the metal to metal fixings...!!!

Hi guys, my sons new lunchbox took a lot of abuse at the weekend, and every time it lands on its roof the aerial is getting bent right over. The tube is now knackered and needs replacing.
Have people found a way of preventing this....? I was thinking along the lines of cutting it where it goes through the body and putting in a small spring, like a biro spring or something, to save it from breaking again.

>9.5t means it will work with any more with more than 9.5 turns.... So it may not be suitable for your needs.

Just bought a chrome midnight pumpkin, and a whole load of upgrades for it, after spending a couple of hours at the park watching my son thrash his lunchbox round the box track. Now I can join in the fun....!!

In the mean time, here is a piccy of it without the lights. He is mad about the A Team, so the paint decision was easy, it won't stay looking nice like this for very long....
It has steel bearings, foam tyre inserts, oil shocks, alloy body mounts and the 5th shock. It's for my 6 year old, so is running a standard 540 motor at the moment.... Gave it a blast for the first time earlier, he loves it....!!!

Thanks for the info guys, I did buy an LED light kit ready made off eBay. It came with a little red plug on it that fitted into the spare socket labelled "battery" on the receiver, but nothing happened. I removed the steering servo and plugged them in there and they worked fine.
I've ordered a splitter off eBay now so I don't need to cut any wires. Will let you know how get on.

The battery is a 5000 mah Nimh with a 2 channel acoms receiver. I was planning on tapping in to the red, black and yellow wire that goes between the Esc and the receiver. I can sort out the resistors and stuff, as long as the esc can handle powering a few leds. Will look into warm white ones, as the White ones I have are too white...!!!

Hi, newbie here.
I recently got back into Tamiya stuff after finding my 20 year old M01 mini in the garage.... My 6 year old son absolutely loves it, so I got him a lunchbox for his birthday yesterday.?
I have some led lights to go on it, but wasn't sure which was the way to do it.
I want the lights to switch on with the lunchbox's switch and using the same battery. Can I splice in to the thin red and black wires that come out of the Esc to the receiver. it's a tble-02s if that helps.

Servo help needed

Sorry guys, another stupid newbie question. I built a new midnight pumpkin this week and used it today for the first time. The fun lasted about 3 minutes before the servo saver broke off, resulting in me having to carry it about whilst my son played with his lunchbox.
Had a search on here but it's quite hard to find the right info. I had a look on eBay and there are servo saver hop-ups available, but they are still plastic. Are they stronger....? Do I need a better servo as well??? Presumably the servo saver is meant to break before the servo, hence the name? I did see some aluminium ones, but not sure what to get at the moment. Cheers...
