  1. Good news, hopefully with that resolved and reassembled it’ll run as you’d hoped. What body are you putting on it?
  2. I’d be tempted to open up the gearboxes and check for missing pins/shafts, open the diffs and check everything is where it should be. it gives me the impression something is slipping and not passing the power along.
  3. More PS-1 sprayed on the Yaris. Building up quite nicely, though there is a little run. Hopefully I’ll get to see it I’m daylight tomorrow to see if it’s ok. tiny bit of sanding of the Blackfoot body, tiny as the paper I was using was too fine, so I need to source something courser. Rediscovered a Subaru BRZ Sport body I’d cut and partially masked. Finished off the masking, including rebelling again and leaving the black till last. I’m trying to make the most of my enthusiasm to do these bodies with the warm weather, to give myself some nice winter builds.
  4. I’m loving the sighs and groans after the spills! Jealous of the quiet road you’ve found
  5. Disposed of two puffed lipos. Both showed a sensible voltage etc, but it just didn't feel worth the risk to keep them. A bit more spraying of the Blackfoot body. A few blemishes, so sanding will come next. Cut out a Yaris body, washed and drying now ready for all the masking tape. Always makes me consider ignoring the 'do the black first' rules, but given it's going to be white it makes sense.
  6. Looks good to me, the first bash will add some ‘detailing’ to the body to take your mind of it! is it just the tl01 c parts tree I’d need to make a shell like this sit on a dt03? I have a spare set of Blitzer wheels already, and a DT03 Neo Fighter in need of some rejuvenation after some speed run efforts years ago. [Thinking about it, I’d need some larger/longer front ‘white bits’ to connect the larger wheels? A quick search of this thread reveals these things are called uprights, and I need the Blitzer ones ]
  7. Looking forward to seeing how this body turns out. I’m not a fan of the Aqroshot/Vajra body, but these raptor trucks do look cool
  8. The shorter wheelbase is noticeable in the turning circle, and the Astute does feel a little more tight and direct. The Racing Fighter has a 55t motor in it as it’s piloted by my 4 year old, so we don’t get to go that fast. I’m not convinced the Astute could handle some of the accidents the DT03 gets in to it does evoke the 90s nostalgia for me, very much like an Avante does.
  9. Finished the Super Astute! What a lovely build it’s been. took it out for a spin with its younger cousin
  10. More Super Astute progress servo and motor in, shocks and wheels to do. Savox servo is very nice, but still has the chatter I get from Savox servos. Not sure what that’s about?
  11. More progress on the Super Astute. Rear arms and gearbox mounted
  12. Watch my boys take great delight at an FT016 blatting about the holiday pool boats are such a novelty! Stickered and started on the Super Astute I was confused for a little while, as the 2mm c-clips were nowhere to be seem. Instead they appear to have been replaced by 5mm e-clips. I didn’t seem to have a correction insert, so I’m curious to know if that’s the same for all re-res?
  13. Lively! Is that going to be a handful? I'm sure that's what I tried, mine seemed to be a bit green. I'll have to check I didn't back it with black
  14. If you haven’t got one, now’s the time as it’s back on again for €333
  15. Niiice, will it see action? what paint did you use, looks a great shade of yellow?
  16. Time to start the stickers - gulp! Pleased with the way they’ve turned out so far. A little blemish on the rear wheel arch of the GT2, but I hope to get creative with that. Astute body has come out a touch darker than I imagined, but I’m looking forward to seeing what it looks like in natural light.
  17. More paint and sanding today: 911 GT2 - body and stripes done, only a minor bleed so I’m happy. Rear wing to do next, hopefully I’ll get a decent colour match. 934 Black - sanded the rear wing as dust got to the first coat. Much better 2nd time round. Not done the two tone bit, I’m thinking I might quit while I’m ahead. Super Astute - Pearl White, white, silver, white coats all done. Curing overnight then I’ll get to see how it really looks and sticker it. Blackfoot - priming done, and first half coat of white on. CC01 FJ Cruiser - took it out for a spin round the garden, it doesn’t get out much Still got to figure out a lwb centre skid plate, I don’t think I have the skills to alter the normal ones
  18. Exciting! Super speedy Modelsport delivery, body trimmed already for painting tomorrow i was tempted to go a ‘black special’ route, but for now she’s going to be built pretty much stock and box art
  19. Is it enough to replace just the shock bodies, or do we need to replace the whole lot?
  20. That looks sweet! I haven’t got one (yet?) but you’re making me want to take he rear wing off my Javelin. Nice work!
  21. Been a bit busier on the rc front today. ordered a Super Astute. Been admiring these for a while, and the sale at Modelsport pushed me over edge. Got some pearl white paint and a low profile servo to go with it.Spent some time digging through my motor and esc drawer to see what I have, and what stil works. Super Stock TZ or a 17.5t brushless seems likely candidates, not sure yet if I’ll cause too much trouble going hotter. Continued priming a Blackfoot body. Planning to go white on this too, so trying to get some good coverage. removed a smoke layer from the front and rear windscreens of my 934. Seems some dust decided to get in there, not sure if I’ll try again. added the black stripe to a 911 GT2 shell. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the red stripes done too.
  22. Thanks everyone, the df03 tag helps the searches. Good to know about the steel bit, now to decide how much I want to push it with the motor
  23. I've just ordered a 2018 Super Astute (yay!), and I was looking at my motor options. I saw from the manual that the pinion is 05, which is a little unusual. Does anyone have any recommendations for sources of steel pinions or other pinion sizes? I found at 32T aluminium one on ebay, but that was about it as far as I could see.
  24. Made a start on my holiday build however there’ll be a little lull as I forgot the steering servo seems a little harsh to cannibalise the other buggies I brought with me, so I’ll have to investigate my options in Cornwall. However as I’m typing I realise that my Konghead has the real wheel steer servo in it, so its more like a kidney donation?
  25. Some masking and two stickers Any tips for getting paint into the rear wing creases on the bigwig with rattle cans?
