  1. Might be getting another wheelie rig soon. I've already got a Lunch Box. Considering the following four kits. 1. WR-02 Wild Willy 2 2. WR-02G VW Camper Van 3. GF-01 Dump Truck 4. GF-01 Land Cruiser Not sure which one is the better chassis/body combo to get of the 4. Also which chassis has a better mod potential?
  2. Thanks for the link! I might look into his front arms instead of another FX10 arm kit if I get another Lunch Box. Regarding the rear axle... I did look into the rear 3rd shock mod, which Pintopower seems to have come up with an alternate solution using that axle bracket. I was initially planning to do it, but then I decided that I actually didn't need it. Some of the issues were I guess slapping noise from all the torque under acceleration and having that axle tilt back the way it's designed and that some people were experiencing the motor hitting the rear shock when this axle tilt happened. If you look closely at my aftermarket rear lower shock mount/brace, you'll notice that there are multiple positioning holes for the mounting of the rear shocks. I mounted it the furthest away from the axle, so the motor hitting the shocks under acceleration isn't an issue with mine. I haven't really paid any attention to any slapping noise, but if it does bother me... it shouldn't be hard to customize it so that it's got some sort of rubber bumpers in that part of the suspension. All in all, I still have some things I want to do before I call this one done so that I can move onto the next kit. 1. Get a better wheelie bar 2. Finish up minor paint applications to clean up some areas and give some more detail. 3. I figured out what I want to do as far as decals go.... Stay tuned!
  3. I believe they were the 100mm GPM dampers. I got them from RCMart - http://www.rcmart.com/dp100sv-alloy-ball-damper-100mm-with-12mm-coil-spring-p-62965.html?cPath=389_390
  4. Always wanted a Lunch Box when I was younger, and I finally got one. For being my cheapest kit... I've seemed to have spent the most on it. Crazy thing is that I'm contemplating getting another one later on! Anyway here it is. Still deciding what decals, extra paint work I want to do to the body, but this is pretty much it. As it stands right now With lights on! FX10 Mod Uncompressed.... Compressed... Used a suspension arm piece from a WT-01N kit to mount the bottom of the shock. (I bought the longer WT-01 arms so I didn't use these) Electronics Hobbywing Justock XR10 ESC, Speed Passion v3 13.5T Brushless, Sanwa RX-371W Receiver, Savox 254mg steering servo, Generic lighting kit Chassis Stiffening Upper shock tower brace Rear deck brace Lower rear shock brace Forgot to add that it's also got a full ball bearing kit.
  5. Mine seems to be ok, but I'm using Lumia 950xl win 10 mobile
  6. Hmm, that's interesting. The ones I put on have built in O-rings to seal them from leakage on the inside. If you look inside, you can see 2 orange colored o-rings. I don't think it'll leak, as I've run it a few times already. Yup, my son already snapped one of them when he drove into a tree root. I replaced it with metal dogbones of the same length, but not OT6. Didn't find out that OT6 were the correct ones until later. The ones I have work, but I suppose I can change to OT6 later if I really want to. I was on the fence on getting ball bearings for this car. Maybe I will now if it makes that much of a difference. Oops, had no idea. Will make a note of that in the future. On another note... I really hate the tie-rod/turnbuckle + servo setup on this car. Any ideas on what I could replace them with so that the tie-rod doesn't rub the bottom of the chassis? And maybe hopefully improve the turning radius.
  7. I got this around 1989 when I was in Jr. High. It was my first hobby grade R/C kit after my first R/C car that was a black Nikko Typhoon from Service Merchandise. I ordered it from Tower Hobbies along with the Kyosho Pulsar Pro 2000 transmitter/receiver/servo package. Drove it for a few years, then left the hobby for around 20 years. I happened to dig it out of my parents' shed so that I could see if I could salvage this and a Kyosho Tracker that I had sitting in there for my son. Straight out of storage. The MSC that you see on there is a newer replacement from the Kyosho that I got later on. The one that came with the car is an even older model with all the contact points exposed... which I still have. As you can see... the stock leMans 05 motor is still in there. Unfortunately, I painted the front wheels green, and the rear wheels I traded for a set of 3 different ones back when I was younger. The rear wing is something I added on later from something else. Anyway, took it out and started cleaning it with a disposable toothbrush. I ordered a body from ebay since my original one apparently went missing, and it had a terrible paint job anyway from what I remember. My son likes the color blue, so I decided to paint it a metallic blue. Finally got the car up and running using a Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 Brushed ESC, Airtronics 371W receiver paired with Sanwa MK-V Transmitter. The original shocks/dampers were in bad shape. 2 of them had cracks in the tubes which was fairly common for this car. I took them off and replaced them with Kyosho FD-37 FD-38 ultima oil filled dampers. I also painted the wheels I had back to white. Ordered some repro decals made by ******* Racing. Not exactly the same as the original kit, and definitely not the same quality... but for this project, it'll do. I think it looks great now! I have an old brushed twister scorpion motor that I might stick in this, and I'm considering upgrading the kyosho servo to maybe a savox servo or something stronger. I'm also looking into seeing if there is a way to improve the tie-rod/turnbuckle system that it's currently using to help it turn better.
  8. This was my first kit in getting back into R/C. I bought a WT-01N Amarok Custom Lift, because I happen to love VW related vehicles. I didn't really know much about any chassis related things when I bought the kit only to find out that this was the "narrow" version of the WT-01 chassis which wouldn't suit what I had in mind for the truck. I went ahead and bought the corresponding "wider stance" related items I needed from Blackfoot 3 parts. Here are the list of things in the truck. 1. Hobbywing XERun Stock Spec v3.1 ESC 2. SkyRC Ares Pro 10.5T brushless motor 3. Blackfoot 3 control arms, drive shaft, etc. 4. Aluminum shock towers 5. Aluminum dampers 6. Tamiya 20T pinion The truck is now super fun to drive while being stable as well at speed.
  9. I have a 17.5t brushless motor on mine, but using a 27t robinson pinion. I've tried the 29T, but the 27T is much smoother. The easiest way I found to go faster on this car is to just stick bigger diameter wheel/tire on it. Just for kicks... I stuck the wheel/tire combo from an Axial SCX10 kit. It was doing wheelies and hauling ***. Wasn't very stable though. Going with a combo just slightly bigger than the stock tire/wheel diameter should be good though.
  10. For your rear suspension, you can try adjusting it so that the suspension doesn't compress as much, or you can buy stiffer springs. The Kyosho Sandmaster manual says you can use a 29T or 31T pinion as upgrades. So you need to look for a 48P(pitch) 29T pinion or a 48P 31T pinion.
  11. So after adjusting the end points and what not on my Sanwa MKV transmitter.... it was much better but still a tad off after turning left, because it wouldn't go back to neutral/center all the way. It only went back to neutral/center after turning right. Tried to adjust as much as I could, but I ended up just ripping out the Kyosho servo in the car and replacing with one of my savox servos. That seemed to help even more and the car is much more consistent now. I'm sure it'll get even better after I get pins I need for the kingpin mod. I guess the electronics that come with the RTR kit aren't really all that great, and probably something that's not worth paying for over the kit version. Fortunately, I got mine on a clearance sale and I got my RTR version for less than the kit version.
  12. So I swapped out the kyosho receiver for an airtronics 371W using it with a Sanwa MKV. The steering is better, but it still goes off a little. I think it's partially due to the loose front end, and hopefully gets better when I get the Tamiya 3mm screw pins in. I may still change the fixed turnbuckle to an adjustable one. Modded the receiver/esc cover to fit the new combo Bought the updated Gearbox cover installed 3 0.5mm shims on each side. installed the light upgrade option shocks are also now oil filled. Going to try setup station to see if i can dial in the wheel alignment any better.
  13. What tire/wheel combo is this? EDIT: Nevermind, I found them under "Tamiya Pajero" search.
  14. I guess I could try binding the receiver to my Sanwa MKV transmitter, or just sticking an airtronics 371w in there since I already ripped out the esc anyway. If that doesn't work, I'm going to turn to getting adjustable turnbuckles and see if the steering can be fixed that way. On another note, I actually like the wheels this car comes with, and measured it to be around 60mm H x 32-33mm W. Anyone know of any tires that are taller that will fit these wheels?
  15. Sorry about bringing back an old thread, but just got a Sandmaster after falling in love with the looks at my local hobby shop. It kind of helps that it was on sale too. I bought the readyset kit, and the first thing I did was rip out the ESC and motor. I've also got the EZW012 oil filled conversion for the stock dampers and EZ010B gear cover on order, as I broke the cover tabs while trying to remove the motor. So far I've got the following in the car and just ran it for a few minutes to check it out. hobbywing XR10 justock ESC hobbywing justock 3650 17.5t brushless robinson 48p 27t pinion I'm happy with the speed, I guess it could go faster, but I can try out a 29t pinion i have if I decide to. One thing I struggled with is the steering, I couldn't get it to consistently go straight. I kept having to adjust, and readjust the steering trim. Is there anything I can do to get it to go straight consistently? Update: just ordered the Tamiya 3x32mm screw pins as well.
  16. Any chance someone can upload the Kyosho Tracker manual? Or send it to me?
  17. how fast does that 3300kv motor put your blackfoot at? I'm wanting to try to hit around 30-40mph.
  18. Nice, I just recently bought a lunchbox myself. I just got back into R/C Cars and so far... 1. I've gotten my Kyosho Tracker back up and running 2. Bought a WT-01 VW Amarok (blackfoot 3), and I'm upgrading suspension on it to the wider blackfoot 3 stance and upgraded shocks and mounts, and maybe brushless too. 3. Bought Lunchbox to be stored for a rainy day after I get my Amarok up and running. I'm now eyeing a monster beetle 2015 release for another rainy day build. I love the old Tamiya monster trucks.
  19. Front bumper doesn't come on a parts tree. It comes just by itself in one of the bags. Part# 19335744
  20. I'll have to check when I get home from work. Are you talking about the front bumper attached to the underside?
  21. Thanks for the info! I'm just getting back into the RC world and re-learning everything from scratch. Last car I had was an old Kyosho Tracker that I just got up and running after pulling it out of my parents' shed. I love the VW Amarok kit, and I'm taking it as an opportunity to upgrade it nicely rather than just stick with what came in the box. Are there any recommended upgrades I should be doing chassis wise? I've already bought the taller metal shock mounts for the longer metal dampers that I also bought.
  22. I just bought the VW Amarok based off the WT-01 chassis. I bought larger dampers, but I noticed the suspension geometry was off compared to your pictures. I then noticed that your suspension arms are longer. Are those suspension arms from a certain type of blackfoot chassis? I'm guessing if I wanted a wider stance, I'd need to get replacement upper and lower suspension arms for front and rear, as well as longer dogbones.
