  1. Guys...didn't you hear me say I can sleep now!! anyway, let me know what you think.
  2. Is there something wrong with the plastic endbell motor, i thought this was right. Don't know what a5cell plug looks like but the one on this is certainly different to the normal tamiya plug
  3. Just thought I'd post an update Hibernaculum, took your advice. Vintage wheels and vintage tyres back on, MSC fitted, shock decal on, zip ties flipped and an original new RS 540S in the rear. Now I can sleep!!!
  4. Sorry for the non tamiya question but any suggestions for an appropriate motor for the optima ReRe? I have a spare Tamiya RZ? Is that wrong?
  5. Legend! That will be the issue!!!!
  6. Hi guys, took my vintage Hotshot2 down to my tract and both front uprights gave way. Not surprised as I'm sure the ball connector screws in stresses the plastic and the vintage plastic is so brittle. Any way I had a couple of spare Hotshot uprights that have the three holes in them. I thought these would be ok but now the wheels click and I can't full lock when turning. Thus something in now out of alignment. Guessing these uprights don't fit then? Any ideas? I have screwed the ball connector into the middle hole thinking that was the closest.
  7. Hey Crash Cramer, threw the sponge tyres on my HS2 runner at my local Tarmac track with a couple of his mates. It flew I have to admit I wasn't expecting these tyres to be so good. It was great fun!!!
  8. Where are you finding vintage rough rider decals for $50?!?!
  9. Probably most of them. Might have to get custom decals made up. Don't want a buggy champ look.
  10. Brake fluid you say, well that sounds interesting enough. Think I tried that once before and the paint went all guey and sticky. How long did you soak it for? Fully submerged?
  11. My thorp ball diff is great. But hey, the more options the better.
  12. The white is realy bad but the blue appears to have been sprayed and done terribly it's all wavy and translucent
  13. Thoughts now you've seen it?
  14. The other option is to paint the mask just on the decals? The reason for the clear is so that you can see what's under it.
  15. What I meant was apply a mask to the entire body incl decals cut out mask where I want to paint (everywhere but decals) spray the whole buggy. At the end I peel off the mask from the decals leaving them in place.
  16. Ooooh, I'll give that some thought!
  17. Hi All, i have a vintage rough rider body. It has an unusual scenario where the paint job is hopeless yet the stickers quite good. They are the original decals so I don't want to loose them. Has anyone ever tried a clear mask over the entire body, cut around the decals and remove the mask, then sprayed the buggy then removed the clear mask over the decals? I'm not sure of the strength of the mask as I've never used one, will it peel off my decals? Are some brands less tacky? or is there another way?
  18. I'm torn, really struggling to decide. I actually have a ReRe shock kit and mounts. But they were just going to be spares. Now I've broken it down I'm 50/50. I hate ReRe parts on vintage buggies.
  19. Well that worked a treat, metho then done sugar soap. Took a bit of elbow grease but well worth it. Tub in good nick!!! gear boxes fully cleaned and refurbished.
  20. Hi Crash, this is a ReRe, I'd never do all of this to my original. But that's just my philosophy! 😉
  21. Wondering what you think of this. I have confirmed it's a new body shell and stickers but the underneath all appears to be vintage? However is this a 037 or just a frog with some alterations to carry the body? i note wheels/tyres are not 037 nor the black bumper? They had a white plastic bumper from memory?
  22. Not a fan of allnatural WillyChang?
  23. Awesome thanks I have some Eucy oil kicking around. Gotta love being an Aussie!
