well the last one went on the weekend - and strangely it just started slowing down - as if the battery was running out (it was not, as I am running 7.4 lipo with an alarm). No burning smell - and motor still turns by hand freely, I should add that this is the first motor to go under lipo all the rest have gone under 7.2 Nimh ! Hmm the problem with changing the ESC is that it is combined with the RX: http://www.ripmax.com/Item.aspx?ItemID=P-RMX736012 and the Controller has EPA - which is very handy when the younger 2.5 yro want's to have a go. do you know of any better quality brushed 370's - I've looked everywhere I can think of and not bringing up much, Model sport have one possible - which looks like it has replaceable brushes.... I will try and call them and ask - the original car came from them.
-
i'm not sure I have not managed to get one apart yet - rather fiddly! do you recon the brushless ones will work with the existing esc, if so were can you get them uk wise? thanks
-
Apologies for being slightly off topic, My son has a 1/18th Ripmax - Was a Dingo but converted it to a Husky - has had loads of upgrades along the way. The 370x motors are cheap but it seams to be going through them like no tomorrow, can anyone advise of a better option - don't need it to go any faster just need them to last a bit longer! cheers G.

haha I remember back in the 80's on the IOW my brother got stopped using his Suburu Brat by the park care taker because it was considered a guided missile! There was no one else around and the 'park' itself used to be an old golf course many years previously... posting links to BBC content is probably breaking some form of copyright law 😉 sadly we live in an increasingly nanny state....

Cheaper Receiver for the Core-RC Code Multi-Model
gizard replied to JWeston's topic in All things electric...
Great thanks for that. I was thinking about A Sanwa thing that had the covers for the sticks but there is no info on the surface on Sanwas own site: http://www.sanwa-denshi.com/rc/sky/propo/aquila-6.html but it is much more expensive. Now I guess it is a choice between the BG or the HK version ! -

Tamco TAC330 3-Channel 2.4GHz LCD Radio System J
gizard replied to vwbug2016's topic in General discussions
See this thread here - it seems manufacture of these has stopped, there is a Tamco, CoreRC, and Etronix version - there all the same but supply has dried up, I have received 1 last one from Hobby store and expecting 2 more from somewhere else. -

The FS-i6 looks interesting. I am contemplating doing a 3-speed build in the future and wondering what radio to use. I had seen this before and wondered if it would be suitable: Channel 1 steering - Right Stick Channel 2 Throttle - Left Stick Channel 3 Gearbox - 3 position switch Channel 4 Difflocks - 2 position switch https://shop.der-getriebedoktor.de/aid-8958-Tamiya-Highlift-axle-with-cable-locks.html#content Channel 5 Rear Steering - mix with Channel 2 and 2 position switch and a Basten's quad steer module *** Channel 6 Lights - 2 position switch. *** I already have a CR-01 with a Tamco 3 channel working with well with the Basten's module http://www.bastens.com/bastens-quadsteer.html basically flicking the 3rd channel 2 position switch cycles through Front steer, rear steer, quad steer and crab steer. Losi - do you know if the 3x 2-position switch's and the 1x 3-position switch on the FS-i6 can be used as above or am I barking up the wrong tree? -
Cheaper Receiver for the Core-RC Code Multi-Model
gizard replied to JWeston's topic in All things electric...
It's a competition I found 2 more from a shop in Lincoln (website said 1 left but when I rang up they had 2) and hopefully I have 1 more coming from Model Hobby which should leave me with enough for the 3 transmitters I have. -
the runcam swift 2 has a microphone as well, but the tx200 doesn't mention audio.. it might be fun to transmit video and audio back to the phone / display any suggestions?
-
The Run Cam brand seems like s good quality product - looks like you can get them here: https://www.quadcopters.co.uk/runcam looks like the supply the TX as well - just wondering what receivers are compatible.... I like the idea of using a android phone or tablet

Oh dear this is annoying I have 2 of the Tamco TAC330 Tx's 1 of the CoreRC Code Tx's and I think about 11 of the 3 ch Rx's it's great system for 90% of my needs. -
oh I see, I thought you had found a kit for the one in the video - thanks.
-
Have you found a UK source for the camera kit only with screen for £60 ? this looks like it could be fun!

Hmm, Thanks for the responses. I am looking for the 3 speed experience. I already have a CR-01 with 4WS and know that this (High lift) will not be as good in that respect. MFU - well I am in 2 minds about that - I will fit lights but might just be basic ones. Has anyone any experience of the Aquila 6 4WD radio RCJAZ appear to have them at a good price - but I cannot find any info anywhere about the 4WD versions functionality. I think I would need: CH1 steering stick, CH2 Throttle stick, CH3 Gear change stick or 3 position switch, CH4 Diff locks 2 position switch, CH5 maybe Rear Steer mix with CH1, CH6 MFU or lights switch?. Also I might fit Junfac axle extensions to widen the track slightly I am UK based but have bought a lot of Stuff from Tamico but for this Modelsport seem to similar prices.

Hi All, I have been considering building a high lift for quite some time. I have decided against an original Bruiser (despite reading many build threads and the attraction of lots of metal parts etc.) One of the reasons I want the more modern High lift is primarily I want to put on a set of remotely lockable diffs from the Diff Doctor, and probably the Junfac 4 link suspension kit. I was wondering about 4ws but I might leave that for now. What I cannot decide now is which model I was favouring the Tundra but I I am considering the Hilux - I assume there is little difference between other than wheel base which is probably adjustable anyway?
-
Would love to build a three speed with Multi link suspension and remote locking diff's and switchable lights (lights to amuse my 5 yo) which I recon with need at least 6 channels! Need to spray loads of bodies - but keep telling myself it would be a waste of time at the moment because it's too cold in the garage

Am I the only one that doesn't glue tires?
gizard replied to 78Triumph's topic in General discussions
Hmm I don't like glueing tyres either purely for the ability to easily change them - hence my other thread on bead locks for Tamiya v-profile tyres! -
Can anyone recommend a bead lock wheel with 12mm hex to fit the V-Profile 53854 tyres or do I just have to buy some of the Vajra wheels 9335619 instead (which I have found out are 75mm x 46mm)?

Widening rear track. Which hexes and drives do I Need?
gizard replied to ThunderDragonCy's topic in General discussions
Yes should have just bought those axles in the first place - much cheaper, I was trying to be clever and combine uj's. I ordered both the above ujs from tamico and 9mm hexes (Tamiya 54610). I assume you have just got these https://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-tg10-long-wheel-axles-39mm-2-/rc-car-products/12240 along with the 9805551 dog bones? I did at least get the DT-02 ball diff too so I can fit that (instead of making a sticky mess with the 500k diff oil! - how tight have you made your ball diff? -
Widening rear track. Which hexes and drives do I Need?
gizard replied to ThunderDragonCy's topic in General discussions
That will be a NO!!! the shaft ends that fit in the wheel axels have different size balls the GF ones are smaller so the DT ones are too large to fit in the GF wheel axels..... so I now have some UJ's that are a bit useless..... -
Incase anyone is wondering the answer is no! Dyna Blaster wheels are 2.2inch (which I knew) what I didn't know was the V-Profile 53854 tyres require a 2.9/3.0inch wheel......
-
Does anyone know if the Dyna Blaster wheels 50496/7 (Front/Rear) are a good fit with the Tamiya V-Profile 53854 tyres?

Transmitter with lots of model memory and cheap receivers
gizard replied to Peter_B's topic in All things electric...
Hmm RC Model shop direct (never used them before) seem to have stock according to their website but the picture is wrong for some reason and the only option is Saturday delivery at 18.50 which seems a little steep - tried to get hold of them but they are not open today....
