I seem to going round in circles maybe a Top Force would be a good idea (I believe from reading here and else where) That it's a more modern take on the Egress and Avante etc. which I like. Seems to share a lot of parts with the Manta Ray so spares should be okay. Modellbau-Siedell seem to have it - I have bought a lot of stuff from them in the past but they now will not sell outside of Germany I believe.
-
Haha - circles - I had already considered a Top Force as a more modern version of the Egress (Mind you I bough the Egress as a Runner as I wanted to keep the Avante for a rainy day so to speak
) - but they seem to be in short supply too.
The Egress seems to drive much better than the TT-02B, hence the idea of getting rid of the TT-02B ….
Hmm maybe the idea of the DB-01RR is a better one - what sorts of bodies fit the DB-01 well - lots I am guessing? But also just seen the manual - what's the deal with the non 12mm hex hubs I see there is some sort of conversion kit from Yeah Racing that is no longer available - but also the RRR version is supposedly 12mm Hex....
-
Already have the DF-02 Metal Diffs in the TT-02B
Hmm......
-
Well I guess I am !
The TT-02B does struggle for ground clearance I know and the DF-03 drive train just seems much better sorted...
-
Hmm I have looked at DB01 before as well but they seem to be even rarer - and the trouble is I would pine after the RRR version which appears to me to be rarer than unicorn poo
My LHS seem to have a Dark Impact for 160 which is tempting as it's not too bad a price and I like to try and support them from time to time. I really need to shift my TT-02B though as SWIMBO would kill me if I were to get another - I have a TT-02R that I should sell as well with a fair few hop ups - is there are market for S/H TT-02s at all don't really see them on here.
cheers

Think I have discovered that other than the shell there is no difference between the Avante MkII and Dark Impact. unless anyone can advise otherwise.
-
I think it might be time to swap my very hopped up TT-02B to a DF-03
When I re-re-started in the hobby in 2012 ish I was considering the DF-03 but under advice I received went for a TT-02B - can't remember what I was told exactly but the general consensus seemed to be that the TT-02B was more robust and there where more parts available etc.
However looking into it a little more I now think the DF-03 is certainly a better car and there seem plenty of upgrades available for it even carbon Chassis plates etc if you want to go very extreme! Essential upgrades seem to be better diff balls and a slipper clutch.
I would prefer the Avante MkII shell to the Dark Impact but cannot find any Kits 58387. other than the Shell is there any difference between the Avante MkII and Dark impact?
-
Tried the other ones I have and they where fine the Core ones are 30c/60c rated (I have 3) and I have a PowerPlant one which Just say 45c on it.
I am now feeling that I should upgrade the TT-02B for DF-03 perhaps!

Well received 2x BL120s yesterday and fitted one to the Egress. Upon testing running the wheels in air it seemed very powerful as the tyres diameter increased by about 2cm. Anyway took it for a drive and it slowed fairly quickly. To start with I couldn't work out what was wrong. I changed the battery to another 2s LIPO (I should mention that I had set the LVC to 3.2v/Cell up from the default of 3.0v/Cell). With the second battery all was well. Turns out that the first battery is very under balanced - it has been on a balance charge for well over 9 hours and has taken so far 2200mA but at an average rate of about 0.2A (it's a 4000Ah Core RC Battery).
So note to self Balance batteries more often!

I suspect I might need to get some maintenance done on the Egress' ball diffs soon!
Next up will be the TT-02B
Cheers for the advice.

Cool thanks Ordered from Modelsport in the end as all of a sudden there was no stock in the UK or EU from HK....
Looking to put one on my TT-02B which currently runs 64t with metal diffs and 13.5t Speed Passion. Also one on the Egress which currently runs a Brushed SuperStock BZ (I will change to a 13.5 Speed Passion) - both using Core RC 2s Lipos - so will be interesting to see what speeds I get.
-
I am already using a 2s with the TBLE-02s and 13.5 / 10.5 does just the esc make that much difference? If so I assume the 10bl120 is capable of drawing a higher current from the battery than the tble therefore what c rating does the battery need to be? Also I have been using alarms on the balance port are the internal cut offs on the 10bl120s effective?
cheers

Just looking at one of these now (says in stock UK on HK so I assume no import duty).
I was going to either use it with a 13.5 Speed Passion motor or 10.5 Tamyia which I already have and use with the std Tamiya TBLE-02s (with the Fan when using 10.5t!)
I fancy trying a 3s Battery though (currently using 2s's)
My question is though is there a hard case 3s lipo out there that is Tamiya sized and suitable for above?

Tony's Tamiya Parts has the posts:
but only in 2's

ahh yes I think I remember my brother's Original Brat having that - but I think both ReRes are direct.
-
haha my brother did this with his original back in the 80's - Original Brat came with a locked DIff and Frog a Diff.
Yes body mounts are different - From the Frog manual (ReRe) you need MR13x3 which are metal screw in posts
Rear Shocks were different on the originals but both ReRes appear to come with the oil shocks.
Tamico is a good place to look for parts needed.

I have the 74085 set which is fine but I would like to have a Hex drive set to accompany it hence the above link - and therefore was wondering if anyone has used them.

Does anyone know if these would be good:
https://www.wiha.com/en/produkte/bits/bit-professional-phillips-1-4-7041z.html
I have a Hitachi electric driver and it would be nice to be able to use 'JIS' bits with it.
-
the black screw pins are used for mounting suspension arms in all sorts of models - certainly from the WR / WT range. the four silver ones at the top look like basic shock shafts. And the bit below part of a gearbox I guess.
-
I use faskolor too.
-
you will probably need a set of these for the rear: Tamiya 53913 which will allow modern wheels to fit - and give you a much bigger choice:

AHHHHHHH Took apart my Egress to tighten up the ball diffs - goodness me they were loose - so tried to tighten them up fully and then back off I a little - snap! looked on ebay found a replacement set and ordered them - Then discovered I have the torque splitter kit for an Avante (which I am yet to build) so pinched one of the PB2 bolts out of the kit - off I go again - SNAP!!!!! no I have no spares at all - so ordered another kit !

As we (UK) are still part of the EU there is no additional Tax / VAT to pay. I should really trust Tamico by now and use my credit card direct - as I am sure I get a worse exchange rate using paypal. I had ideas of having a blast over there on the Autobahns at some point to pickup a few kits (ultimately it would be more expensive than delivered but fun and I think there store would be fun to have a look around).

Hmm thanks - it was an email from Jadlam which caut my eye - but maybe best to wait. Thanks for the responses.
I bought the current egress at circa £350 plus shipping from Modelbau-Seidel when they were still exporting to the UK. As a runner I find it great. I also have a RE-RE Avante NIB but tempted to get a Black special soon as well...…
The only thing about the Egress is with rear track width seems a little narrow with the Dark impact wheels and tyres I have on it - ie I tend to roll it a fair bit. With the original wheels and tyres in was awesome in the snow earlier this year.
I can see me buying both when funds will allow
as they are a great build and if I have two then there are spares etc...… especially as I have two sons!

I am very tempted to buy another - I already have one is that a good price?
