I got a mint XB GF01 Dumptruck (no box, no electronics except the torque tuned motor, do have a manual for it) that I could part with for 130€ shipped (Europe)

That's a kind offer - but for me the build is essential :) plus it's the Toyota Land Cruiser 40 I'm after too with a Wild Willy Character.

    Thanks anyway.

a whole load of useful stuff....

Thanks, Yes full bearings will be going in, and I think I will get the Bison B parts. I already have some GPM swing shafts which I thought would work with something else but don't so they will be used on the front then i will have a spare set of std. for the rear - but might get the hard diff outs. (53218)

Only problem now is SWMBO has taken note of how many RC cars I have now so I need to hide a few even though this one is for the younger son, problem is the elder will want an upgrade when his birthday comes along..... (currently has a micro crawler and a 1/18 Ripmax truggy).

  3. Can anyone advise what parts on the GF-01 are likely to break ?

I am guessing steeing arms is one thing. Just want to ensure I have some suitable spares if the little lad gets it for his b'day, although with the power turned down I am guessing it should be fairly bomb proof....

It would be best to remove the diff also, as without the output cups (which would fall out without the dog-bones) the diff is "floating" and could lock up/damage the other gears ;)

I decided on a GF-01 over a WR-02 as it's 4wd and will complement my Konghead nicely. I'm waiting for the clear grey chassis to build one up, should be cool to see all them gears spinning.

Not to mention the extra drag on the drive train! ;)

I noticed there was a clear case available, but as this will be for my son I possible will not bother to begin with :)

BTW does the IoW in IoWBasher mean Isle of Wight?

  5. I think it's going to be a GF-01.

Can anyone tell me what the Damper length is - eye to eye compressed and uncompressed - I see the standard items need replacing and have some gmade 55mm ones that might be suitable.

    cheers

  6. Thanks very much for your detailed reply - it confirms what I was guessing / thinking.

It is the 58589 GF-01 or the 58242 WR-02 body wise I am considering. Looking further availability of both seems a little limited...

looking at the manuals it seems likely that a lot of the gearbox is shared as well (both I'm sure like the wild dagger are fairly bomb proof, especially if I'm not going faster than stock)

  7. My second son has a birthday coming up in July - he really does have a handle on driving my Tamiya cars around - with the EPA function in use of course (cut throttle by 50-60%) and I am fed up with the toy grade stuff that does not last or cannot be repaired due to lack of partds.

I started looking at the Jimny MF-01x but I think the Wild Willy Driven WR-02 or GF-01 might be more fun for him, Other than the 4wd what are the benefits of each line. I have a hugely upgraded Wild Dagger so know that the gearbox in the WR-02 is good - and some parts will be shareable if required. But it seems to me the GF-01 is more robust solution.... do the Wild Willy Characters  come as standard on both?

    thanks in advance

I also have a TT02B with a TBLE-02s (No fan seems to be required) and a Speed Passion 13.5t motor and this works very well. I also have a Blitzer Beetle with TBLE-02s and Speed Passion 13.5 and it's great and finally a DT-03T with again the same setup.

I should also mention that I am running 2s lipos with them all as well so 7.4v fine too.

Hi. That's good to know thank you.  Which 13t motor would you reccomend please and would I just use the same 23t pinnionand 64t spur with this 13t brushless motor?? Also my battery is a nimh 2400. Would uprading that to a 3500 give better performance? I don't want to go down the Lipo route. Thanks

The tble-02s will easily run a good 13.5t from any other brand. Tamiya motors are quite conservatively powered so it would be a fair step in performance. The tble-02 won't run a 10.5t motor well in my experience so if you want some serious power (10.5t is around 4000kv if you are looking at those ratings) then you need to consider a new esc as well. Search on Electrical forum. There are lots of suggestions.

I concur with this - I have a TBLE-02s with the Fan and running a TBLM-02 10.5 turn motor in a TT02S (so small wheels, but high gearing) and the ESC does stop due to overheating protection every now and again.

  11. Hmm it seems to be the speed controller as I tried another identical SP MMM 13.5 and the same problems happened. Tried an Identical TBLE-02s and set it up in the right mode etc. and it works fine. going back to the original TBLE-02s and some times it works and then other times it needs a the wheels - or if motor out of the car spin the pinion a little while applying throttle and it starts, then if you stop and quickly select reverse it works but stay more than a split second in neural and it stops again - anyone else had this issue?

  12. One of my TBLE-02s with a Speed Passion MMM 13.5 seems to have developed a problem, I have reset the ESC and ensured it's in Brushless mode and High point setup is correct.

The problem is it does not respond to any throttle input unless you turn the wheels to to get it started while applying throttle, if you keep throttle on (at any level) it keeps going but as soon as neutral is selected it will not start again until it's given a push etc.

Doesn’t sound like a problem with the motor. Just doesn’t make sense that you would be getting through them so quickly.

how does the drive train feel with the motor removed.

Well, I have stripped the drive train and rebuilt it and found no dodgy bearings so I am a little confused to say the least as to why it keeps trashing motors.

  14. Has anyone order one of these from the US to the UK - I might be able to order to the US and then get brought back by someone - looking for 1 possibly 2 for a ReRe Brat and then maybe a Old Frog/ Brat.? Do they make them to order or are they in stock / what is the lead time?
