  1. Finally got an m-chassis Alfa. This will go on the M-08. I definitely want the classic red paint job at some point, but this one might be a two-tone race livery.
  2. I've got a Subaru XV and a DT03 in pastel grey. I still have a full can of it, but since it's now discontinued I'm waiting for the perfect car to use it on. I assume it'll just depressurize before I get around to using it.
  3. I haven't bought a kit all year so I thought I'd better get one of these. I also picked up a Toyota Yaris GR m-chassis body, a set of wheels for the CC02, and a few paints.
  4. DT03. After building it I haven't even run it. Not that I think it's particularly terrible or anything, but once you buy a couple of nicer cars it's hard to go backwards. Do I really want to spend my free time with a buggy that can't jump, isn't especially fun driving, and will probably snap the chassis if I hit something?
  5. Hop-ups are a bit like the cars themselves. I don't need them, but I like spending money on them regardless. It gives a bit of new life into a car and adding a new part is like a tiny reminder of why building kits is enjoyable and mentally stimulating. I generally only buy ones that have a specific function or benefit, otherwise it seems a bit silly. The hobby itself is a little silly so I'm not too much of a stickler. And we all know carbonfibre makes anything run better.
  6. I'd go with the XV02RS. On loose surfaces the XV01 is great, but I don't think it would be better on tarmac. There's a few hassles with the XV01 that the XV02 doesn't have as well, like the battery compartment.
  7. I definitely would. It's an uncommon body in an uncommon colour which looks fantastic.
  8. You can add me to that (very short) list.
  9. I assume these are quite popular for vintage racing, so Tamiya will keep putting out batches of them. I might finally buy one (and then wish I'd bought the Evo).
  10. I'm really happy to see the ST185 back, but it is criminal to not include the Castrol livery. Not even the Repsol ST185, Tamiya? I'd also really like an ST205, however I can see now that, if it ever does get re-released, it'll only be the street version. The Supra A80 racer without the Castrol livery was a disappointment enough not to buy one at all. Tamiya's car bodies are a big part of why I like the brand. Removing the stickers is really detrimental. They used to sell the same body with several different racing liveries and now we can't even get a single one.
  11. I'm not sure of the rationale for this chassis. Seems like the answer to a question nobody asked.
  12. It's your "fun" money and you're agonizing over it. That doesn't seem very fun. You're not getting more value by buying three other cars. You're missing out on the one you really want. Give yourself permission to buy the Mid and relax.
  13. For racing? Technically possible but I'm not sure I'd say it's being completely honest! I agree with these. All of mine were really nice builds and reliable to run out of the box. I'd add the basic M07 to the list. Great car that can be put on the track without concern.
  14. I've been debating buying a Giulia. Nice to know there's a second option coming up, but I think I'll still get the M06.
  15. That's really awful to hear. This place won't be the same without you. Thanks for all the amazing content over the years. The War Rig was, is, and always will be, insane! Probably the most memorable RC on here.
  16. I feel sorry for you. You've reached the apex of Tamiya kits. No other truck will ever be as good as your King Cab. All you will ever want is more King Cabs.
  17. It's nice but without the stickers these cars only seem halfway there. I wish they would at least put out a few new sticker sets of their own fake sponsors, numbers and so on.
  18. Mine cracked around the driveshaft area, too. At the time it seemed unusual. I just wrote it off as me putting the screws in too tight during the build. It was from the initial release batches of the MF01X Jimny, but I can't recall how long before the plastic cracked. It wouldn't have been long, though. I think I can safely state it had nothing to do with age, aggressive driving, the temperature, UV rays, threadlock, and so on. I no longer have it so I can't say whether the problem continued after I replaced the parts.
  19. It's basically the Astute chassis drivetrain but attached to a much bigger chassis.
  20. It's possible but I think it's more likely they have other reasons. At this point I'm really not sure what the hold up is. The same could be said for a number of other cars of course!
  21. I've often thought about doing a replica if Tamiya ever re-releases the King Cab itself. Maybe they'll side-step getting Nissan copyright permission and will just do their own version of this one. Everyone who owned a King Cab seemed to know about that particular one so it might even work out quite well for them.
  22. I agree. I'd like a lighter gearbox out back too but removing that weak point in the chassis would be the priority. The DT buggies actually seem a little anachronistic given the rest of the buggy line-up. A TT02B is probably the only entry level buggy needed these days.
  23. I don't see any need to defend Tamiya. If people don't like it then nobody is forcing them to buy it. I don't mind discussing things, and I have my own criticisms of Tamiya, but when it's some kind of polarized "them" versus "us" it just isn't worth getting into it. Every brand has it's faults or downsides. A lot of other brands I can't look at without wondering why their bodies look so awful even when they cost a small fortune.
