Whats the value of a super sabre NIB?
BeetleLover replied to macmeniac's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
More than a Boomerang I would say, Red dampers and bodyshells slowing up these days... will they re-re this one, probably very easy to but no idea if they will. I would value it maybe $75-100 more than an original boomerang perhaps... JAmes -

Yup Willy I'll come, be hard not to come to my own Batchelor bash! Could I catch a ride out with you if it all goes ahead, I'm in South Yarra off commercial road... I hope I can find my Tamiyaclub Tshirt to get people to sign, hmmm have I packed it already? cheers, sounds like a plan! -
Should I sell?
BeetleLover replied to Brooklyn Nights's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
I think you may have answered your own question, best sell the whole lot together as a package deal for the best money you could get... Reckon that lot should be easy enough to get again once you've sorted your finances... James -
I'm not sure where they are in the complete NIB Scorcher but I know they do come with the bodyset... James

Value For Money / Smiles Per Pound
BeetleLover replied to OrangeSport's topic in General discussions
I'd say Wild Willy 2, still plenty about and relatively inexpensive... Most fun car I have ever owned, drew crowds, was strong, plenty of fun paint jobs and extra details to embellish etc. Great Wheelies and Rolls, can be tuned a little to very stable, more so than Lunchbox etc. Great Looking cars too James -
Hmmm, I think ultimately you will both be happier with the Frog... very few reasons why an Avante would be the better choice. Me thinks you are fishing for justification to get the car you want... the Avante... #1: Building the Frog is within the realms of a 9 year old and will still be rewarded with a sense of accomplishment #2: Frog boxart includes Pink #3: Frog is perhaps one of the toughest Tamiya Cars the reverse is true of the Avante. #4: Frog is cheaper, not such a big outlay if she looses interest. #5: If your daughter discovers that her car in essence is really your car (Avante) she will loose interest very fast. #6: 9 year olds have accident's, if you are there feeling anxious about an expensive car having some serious damage, your daughter will pick up on it make her nervous and take the fun out of it. #7: When the damage occurs to the Avante it will be out of action from time to time and not just ready to throw in the back of the car anytime. #8: For the price of the Avante you could have 2 frog's and you will have great competitive fun together. #9: It's the car she wants. My sister and I had a car each, hers a Hornet and mine a Frog and we had a blast, we built them at the same time, they both have their redeeming features and the battle between them was close and fun, great combo... James P.S. Oh and plus 1 for WW2 if you didn't get a frog, paint it pink, throw on a Barbie head and she will have one awesome fun, entertaining and sturdy car... My most fun runner to date!

Should I sell?
BeetleLover replied to Brooklyn Nights's topic in Monster Trucks, 4x4, Wheelie Rigs and Crawlers
Hmmm, sell all your hop ups, ESC, motor etc and keep the kit, at least you recoup some money yet you still have something for a rainy day... James -
So the NSW boys have started dropping their details... added BeetleLover, James, 34, Melbourne, VIC (limited time only till back in New Zealand) Corpse Thrower, Corpsey, 41, Bacchus Marsh, VIC Damaniac, Damien, 39, Frankston, Melbourne, VIC Incredible_Serious, Alex, 39, Melbourne, VIC Ozrace, Adam, 42, Melbourne, VIC Swarm, Stuart, 42 NSW / VIC Border WillyChang, Willy, Melbourne VIC HunterZero, 38, Sydney, NSW Pagedm_f350, 36 Central Coast, NSW Rayman011, Ray, 38, SW, Sydney, NSW Ap6318, Mark, 35, Brisbane, QLD bjr250, Brad, 33, Brisbane, QLD commiedoor, George, 50, Mackay, Central QLD MAD RACER, Mark, 40, Brisbane, QLD Mcweee, Craig, 39, Mackay, Central QLD MTBKYM01, Kym, 38, Cairns, Far North QLD Redzone, Dave, 33, Sunshine Coast, QLD rotor, Chris, 33, Brisbane, Southern Suburbs, QLD TA_Mark, Mark, 42, Central Southern QLD Tamiya Tamer, Jason, 36, Toowoomba, QLD Falcon#5, Brynn, 33, Adelaide, SA Falcon#5's Friend, 24, Adelaide, doesn't understand vintage! lol SB-Aust,Steve, 37, Perth, WA and still no hot chicks...

Yeah that is kinda the way it is, token Kiwi, when I went travelling to the US I met up with a few Aussies at a back packers to go to Seaworld and then another Aussie said I've got a car let's go cruisin' I'd love to catch you guys up for a bash but I'm afraid things have been moving really fast around here, this weekend would be good but alas not much time to pull it off! We go back to NZ on the 19th of this month, get married on the 26th I'll be back over on the 18th to the 21st of March and will be pretty hectic resolving our apartment and those things that are boring! If you did try and sort something out for that weekend I could attempt to come out but not sure if I could follow through, just depends on our chores... I won't have a car to bash, they're all packed up ready to go home and my Cheetah is not so useful for bashing! I'd just be happy to meet a few more TC crew... I reckon Bullfrog would be into it too, met him a couple weeks ago James

Competition Ideas...
BeetleLover replied to Fusion-Hobbies's topic in Tamiyaclub Rules and Site Usage
How about a smaller monthly comp to create a Tamiyaclub calender for the next year? Who wants to pose seductively with their Wild Willy for December? lol -
I hope no one minds that I've consolidated the above: BeetleLover, James, 34, Melbourne, VIC (limited time only till back in New Zealand) Corpse Thrower, Corpsey, 41, Bacchus Marsh, VIC Damaniac, Damien, 39, Frankston, Melbourne, VIC Incredible_Serious, Alex, 39, Melbourne, VIC Ozrace, Adam, 42, Melbourne, VIC WillyChang, Willy, Melbourne VIC Swarm, Stuart, 42 NSW / VIC Border MTBKYM01, Kym, 38, Cairns, Far North QLD TA_Mark, Mark, 42, Central Southern QLD bjr250, Brad, 33, Brisbane, QLD MAD RACER, Mark, 40, Brisbane, QLD Redzone, Dave, 33, Sunshine Coast, QLD commiedoor, George, 50, Mackay, Central QLD Mcweee, Craig, 39, Mackay, Central QLD Tamiya Tamer, Jason, 36, Toowoomba, QLD rotor, Chris, 33, Brisbane, Southern Suburbs, QLD Falcon#5, Brynn, 33, Adelaide, SA No hot chicks yet?! lol I know others but I don't feel right about adding them, they best add themselves so I hope they respond to this thread... I find it frustrating when peoples Forum handle is different to their TC handle, can get confusing who you are talking to sometimes... Maybe a "TC yes" beside yours if you are a subscribed member... Anything wrong with the log procedure to the forum ?
BeetleLover replied to Swarm's topic in Tamiyaclub Rules and Site Usage
Funnily enough I did recently turn off my Telstra box but I wasn't faced with the login one time afterwards it's just kind of intermittent now although I'm not doing anything different from before when I was always straight in... James -
Tamiya Black Motors, Red and Blue Bell
BeetleLover replied to BeetleLover's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Thanks for the info, i paid about $35US each for them so I think they are well worth that. I have seen a few of the Endurance motors over the years but this will be the first Sprint I will have seen in person. I would guess they were produced in similar numbers. Happy to add these to my collection, oh and I didn't know the Lola had the Sprint so I will have to be on the lookout for another! cheers James -
I've bought a couple of motors off a mate, an NIB Blue end Endurance motor and a good looking slightly used Red end Sprint motor. I don't know a great deal about these motors, I suspect the Red end one came with the Tornado on-road car, which is a bonus cause mine hasn't the correct motor fitted. So the Blue Endurance I don't know if that came with a kit if any? Does anyone know? I'm keen to start a small vintage motor collection and I don't see many of these around, does anyone know if these are now hard to find? I doubt anyone would chase these motors to use as the performance numbers-wise looks limited. As there are few kits that came with these motors are these motors not particularly sought after? I looked at complete auctions on Ebay and there has hardly been any... James

Subaru Brat from scratch (resto/build)
BeetleLover replied to mongoose1983's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Looking good Erich! I've yet to get a Brat together which is funny as it's one of my favourite bodies, both the model and the original ute. I hope to work on my Mudblaster soon, I think I have most of the parts but boy is it going to be a mission to find them, probably take longer than the actual build and paint! Your collection is coming along nicely, you'll need to move to a bigger home so you can continue to accelerate your collecting James -
Well I'm a 34 y.o. kiwi and have been living in Melbourne not quite a year but in 2 weeks I'm moving back home Have loved this place tho and have met 5 local TC members here who have been super friendly and helpful Have you had a look at the member map to see whose where...? James

Anything wrong with the log procedure to the forum ?
BeetleLover replied to Swarm's topic in Tamiyaclub Rules and Site Usage
I haven't changed my computer or web browser lately but I used to be automatically logged in when I went over to the forums. Now it would seem there is no rhyme or reason when I'm confronted with the login entry. I agree something has changed and probably coincides in the same time window... James -
If I want to run my Nicad/Nimh batteries out I just disconnect the motor wires and they should slide in and make contact with the battery terminals in the tamiya connector. I'll just turn my car over and close the door to the room and check on it every 5 mins or so... James

Bycmo...Does anyone know anything about them?
BeetleLover replied to Tamiya King's topic in Vintage Tamiya Discussion
Hiya, I've seen a few of them up for sale on auction sites. From what I have heard previously they are very poor quality especially the gear box that contains gears made of butter apparently. I don't think there is anything useful from it for Tamiya models other than maybe using the body on another chassis or something. James -
I like to have the most part of my collection on the site and largely for the same reason as Swarm, evidence/documentation of my collection for insurance purposes. I do however have many projects that don't quite constitute a more or less complete car so I haven't bothered to list them, likewise doner cars which will get consumed into my unfinished cars already listed. I would one day like to list all my various sets of Radio Gear and Chargers but not that organised as yet. James
