Had to do it. I'm getting one too :) @Percymon did you see the Hi-Cap announcement? #47358 I'll be buying a few sets when they're available.

I strongly suggest everyone stock up on J-Parts ;)

This is my first time with a Top Force, which bits from the J-Parts are common for breaking?

Morning all! Just ordered my Top Force. Although my plan is to ditch the body and make a Terra Conqueror Evo. I have a metal motor mount and trf501 damper piston shafts ordered to counter the two obvious gripes with the kit. As bearings seems to be a little vague i will wait to see what is in the box when it arrives before ordering those.

Question: Does it still come with the metal gears in there? So do I need to get the TA02 plastic gearset set on order?

You need the gear set. Built mine a couple of weekends ago and it had the horrible aluminium bits in.

Just reading through the manual and saw the horrid Aluminium drive gear on about the 3rd page, remembered it was suggested that anything other than a silver can turned this into grinding paste so I have ordered:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tamiya-50529-4WD-Touring-Rally-Car-Plastic-Gear-Set-TA01-TA02-NIP-/263004839478?epid=1608110328&hash=item3d3c4f5e36:g:6WAAAOSwX61ZKCIQ

Say not compatible with off road buggies but Percymon's rebuild thread here:

    Says otherwise.

Once I see what performance and temps are like with the kit alloy pinion I'll order a steel one with the correct teeth. Maybe get some hi-caps or GPM dampers if I'm not happy with the CVA's which are the newer poo non-tunable ones so not really Constant Volume 'Adjustable' at all. Looks like a nice car and semi pro apart from a couple of bits.

    Carl.

Looking forward to seeing yours finished. I think I'll be ordering the plastic gear set. I was considering a hot motor for mine, but after seeing the performance with the kit silver can I think something more mild will be more than enough: maybe around 19/20 ish turns. What motor are you using? I'll need a decent pinion too, I'm just using the kit one at the moment, but I know from bitter experience I'd be better off using one made from cream cheese! :D

  4. After more than a year of inactivity I decided I really didn't want to miss out on this so made my way down to my LHS and picked one up. Fancied trying something other than green so went with Tamiya PS10 purple (although it's more blue than purple to my eye). I think it works quite well. I could have done a better job with the stickers, but it's a runner so I'm not too concerned :)

Finally finished painting the Tomahawk. Love how the PS-33 Cherry Red came out. I knew it would be pinkish, but it came out just right. Wanted something close to box art, but not quite. I also don't like the look of the lights, so it'll be run like this. I might get a 2" Rigid like light bar though.

  7. Here's my original Manta Ray. It's been like this for a couple of years now.

I'm hoping to find some time over the next few weeks to get it cleaned and sorted, see what bits I need, etc.

Has anyone got any tips for cleaning all the old muck and grease off? Maybe a good cleaning product or degreaser to use? It's going to be used for fun and bashing, so I'm not aiming to get it perfect: It's only going to get dirty again

Hi welcome to the club!:D I like the pumpkin they always look as though they can take a good hammering! Over the years I've probably built a stack of tamiya's! hotshot and wild one amongst them and are brilliant RC cars but my first kyosho was a few weeks ago with the optima re-re and I can honestly say it goes to the top of the pile for a fantastic build and super smooth running (went for the belt drive!) But which ever one you choose you won't be disappointed they are all good in there own ways! :)

I built that for my son, it's holding up to an enthusiastic 8 year old very well

He was only insured 3rd party too.

Not a nice sight as he opened the garage door to show me, but really really lucky to walk away.

Not many left because of the above! lol

I thought it was a great car,as long as you didn't bottle it mid bend, you where fine! 😀

Lol, yeah good old lift off oversteer! At least he walked away - cars can be replaced, people can't

They look great. I don't know what you were worried about. Your Frog looks better than mine. I had a bad day with the masking and got a few leaks that

needed inventive use of the extra decals to conceal. The vintage decals look great on it. Love that huge NGK one!

That Scania looks complex. A very impressive looking beast. I still haven't seen a Tamiya truck in the flesh yet. Perhaps that's for the best as far as my rapidly diminishing bank account is concerned,

Thanks! I was so glad when they re released the Frog, had wanted one for years. I agree: they look so much better with the vintage decals.

The Scania is pretty complex but was a dream to build, I imagine that's got a lot to do with Tamiya's excellent quality and attention to detail.

I'd love to build a Bruiser but funds won't allow at the moment. Can't decide between a Wild One or Hotshot next - unless there's a nice suprise at Shizuoka 2016 (come on Bigwig :D)

  11. Ok, I'll be brave. Here's some pictures of the cars which are currently up and running. Sorry the photo's are naff quality but I'll get round to some better shots one day. Couple of things to sort on the Scania, need to tint the windows to hide the nest of wires for the MFU and last time out I broke off the top lightbar. Frog and Pumpkin are standard runners.

    It's a escort with astra engine,in Peugeot....Looks like it works though.😀

I took a friend of a friend out for a spin in her down a country road, and she was flying, back end hopping etc. He bought it off me,then within a week cartwheeled it across a field down the same road!! Snapped the alloys in half against the kerb and not a panel left undamaged 😞

Aww man :( must have been hard to see. Not many left these days
