It’s technically a Frog with a KBF chassis (the Frog Jumper).  I’ve switched out the Frog mounts for the AmPro rear mounts and the Brat front mount, so currently it’s the Black Ranger…

Here’s an old pix of the same car (with the mounts mentioned above), when I was playing with different wheels.  I’ve subsequently taken the alloy rear arms off and replaced them with OG rear arms.

What did you think of the alloy rear arms?  Always tempted by the ones on eBay, but the cost is just too insane.

Even if they deliver on time there prices are almost the same as german vendors or more expensive they used to be alot cheaper  and there shipping cost are still high, and then I have to pay also vat and taxes ,so rcmart is for me not the cheaper option anymore.

I agree on this.  RCMart was my go to for quite a while for Tamiya hop-ups and the occasional kit. But prices have risen to almost equal to what I can get stuff for here in the states that it just isn’t worth it anymore.  Especially taking into account the Covid related shipping delays and shipping price increases.  I will say it bums me out a little bit though.  Call me a nerd, but there was something fun about watching the tracking update as toy car parts made their way to me from the other side of the world!

Kyosho is in similar situation. Their is a huge shortage of MiniZ kits, bodies, parts etc. Some stuck in long beach, others due to shortage of materials

Yeah, figured as much.  I’ve been waiting on a USA-1 preorder and it has slipped from July to August to September and now October ☹️

  4. Kind of itching to get ahold of a Juggernaut 2 or maybe scratch build something close to one out of parts.  Anybody have one they are thinking of offloading or maybe spare plastic (C, E,F,G,H) parts trees?  There are a few complete on eBay but at over $1,000 It just isn’t worth that to me.

  5. Thanks tamiya_1971!  Yes RPP.  They do a big scaler/crawler business.  They were the only major shop online willing to order me both a Fighting Buggy (which ended up being added to the site) and a NovaFox (which they ordered and didn’t add to the site).  Both Amain and Tower told me they could not get either vehicle.  Note they didn’t let me use the coupon on the special order items but I felt price was fair!  Something like $200 for the NovaFox.

Been tempted by one of these for a while, but held off till now. TA08 delayed till at least September now, Fire Dragon not in sight, then eBay throw a 20% voucher, I couldn’t resist :D

Waiting on the electrics now, and possibly the rainy weather that‘s forecast

A little jealous here as I used to get eBay 20% off all the time and then one day they just stopped.  Everything I get now is on refurbished items.  Got done good Traxxas deals with the 20% coupons.

Isn’t the msrp listed on tamiyausa.com usually about double of what a kit actually goes for? If the same logic applies here I quite like the price.

Quick check between MSRP of Knight Hauler, Frog, and Top Force Evo vs listed price at Tower suggests listed sale price at Tower is about 70% of MSRP.  Calculates to a listed price on Tower in the $314 range.  If it plays out that way and discounts are able to be used, I'm in.

  8. When the Fighting Buggy was announced I pestered RPP hobby to let me pre-order one.  They eventually did put it up on the site when they were able to order from Tamiya USA, not sure if it was because I was bugging them or if there were others.  Maybe worth a try?  I also rely on AMain and Tower.  I have a phenomenal LHS but since COVID TamiyaUSA wasn't taking phone orders so he hasn't ordered directly from them in a while (strange I know, but he is older and doesn't like to do email) so now I can only easily order what Horizon will stock.  Prices were always better when he went direct to Tamiya.
