Yeah - it’s a massively Willy waving site now and the lack of understanding about the actual world of cars is unbelievable going to the garage and handing over some cash because you read a review in car magazine does not make you a piston/gear head haha

100% agree however there is snobbery with some I’ve been ripped to pieces on pistonheads for my car I’ve been to car meets and asked to park somewhere else because someone thought my modified car wasn’t worthy of being there unlike their £100k straight from the showroom car I have no issues with people showing their mega expensive RC cars but we can’t tell people who have got a battered hornet that their car is crap JJ

Yes this IS a social media platform and yes there are groups within the forum that can mean people can gather together on certain topics HOWEVER there are some massive differences firstly on a forum you see all the topic areas on the home page - you don’t see the conspiracy pages as a heading on your FB home page. why is that pertinent? Because the community would come down on BS posts. Look how quickly spam is locked down. secondly the moderation is more focussed thirdly, the lack of algorithms that define what bits of the forum you see mean you aren’t shaped in your thinking. JJ

I use Tamiya paint for box art, core RC for off the wall colours and humbrol acrylic droppers or enamel tins can be had for as cheap as £1 a tin eg

Social media is full of idiots unfortunately these platforms with minimal control allows the self certification of so called experts, conspiracies and total junk look at flat earth, election fraud, anti masks, anti vaccine, covid deniers, pizza gate, 911, moon landing etc etc - all dangerous conspiracies that damage society yes there are really good aspect of social media but.... L and L do stock some MCI decals but go direct to Nathaneal at MCI I’ve had a few bodies from L and L and while the bodies are great, The decals are Sometimes not fit for purpose JJ

It doesn’t look like the paint has adhered there was the shell fully dry? water “pooling” is always an issue you could use some paint remover in that area and then respray that area JJ

It was my beetle - it’s running brushless and 3s and it was throwing shafts all over the field and I would spend ages looking for them or buying new ones ive now fitted the XeoStar gearbox brace and painted the shafts neon orange and added suspension straps sorted JJ

If you’ve stripped the threads on either the screw or the part then no You could try and re tap the hole are you talking about machine screws into metal or plastic or self tappers? JJ

Well said @lsear2905 very wise the 1:1 car forum I run almost didn’t have a general discussion area but without the banter the forum dies. we all need fun in our lives and sometimes a shared sweeping generalisation about something in the world brings us all a bit closer - doesn’t mean it’s true or false as for wives - mine is also supportive (even though she moans that I could have put £100 in the holiday or school fund instead of buying yet another “toy car”) and as someone else said - this is way cheaper than my 1:1 hobby of lowers suspension, engine remapping, lightened flywheel, racing clutch, lightweight alloys, stainless exhaust, petrol, servicing etc etc so the wife and me spend quality time together and quality time apart a balance of individualism and shared life and if we can avoid the annoying 11yr old in the house for as long as possible then even better (again not a sweeping dig at 11yr olds not reference to child negligence - just humour) happy Tuesday everyone JJ
