well apart from a broken battery holder (luckily modern technisport 2.4ghz still use EXACTLY the same holder) a new battery and some tweaking of the controller and this beast was off and running! so much other cool vintage stuff included in the sale..... The bag is in excellent condition with both cardboard panels some nicely boxed items with the legendary Beatties price labels paint and stickers on the car are very genuine - it is in great condition and everything is in place! i feel lucky to now own this car! tamiya ESC at moment and Speed Passion V3.0 Competition BL 8.5T i don't have LiPo fitted yet though I fitted the bigger spur gear but it was slower off the line (obviously) and not as fun plus its not as stable as the HPI looks and i broke a FRP mount going over a small hole the hpi looks fast out of the box (the e FLUX has the speed upgrades and motor, just needs a 3s LiPo for 77mph) don't get me wrong, i'm loving the tamiyas and would always buy them BUT if it was the choice of an aqroshot or HPI theres a tough decision to be made.... JJ

tempted - may change my list for santa JJ

i'll be running 2s (3s ESCs are v expensive) i was gonna buy an aqroshot BUT that £100 with basic ESC and torque tuned 540 but no radio gear. so would need to add another £70 to get it running brushed then i like a radio system per car to keep it all simple - another £50 easy JJ
-
ok - so been slowly spending cash on the TT02b to make it faster (brushless, uprated diffs, ESC, LiPo etc so along with the radio gear the car is probably setting me back about £300 and its only doing about 30mph so looking around at fast RC cars the HPI E-Firestorm FLUX RTR comes is at £240 with radio gear, ESC, Brushless etc and only needs battery and it will do up to 77mph! http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hpi-e-firestorm-flux-rtr-2.4ghz/rc-car-products/387643 am i missing something?? why is it so expensive to get Tamiya cars going FAST?? i have been looking at getting a stadium truck and put a brushless in it so should i just buy an HPI?? it sucks that I wouldn't be able to build and paint though JJ

love the car and build i'm awaiting my DF02 metal parts bag (ordered 5 sept) to upgrade the difs and some DF02 adjustable shocks (no stock yet) already running a sensored brushless 8.5T speed passion with my tamiya ESC but looking for some LiPo and the ESC won't take LiPo so a new combo needed (maybe a 9.5T to put in the monster beetle) worth noting that the FRP parts are no match for the yeah racing parts (delivered v quickly from oz) JJ
-
maybe more than likely that it will stay on the shelf (i've run out of space though) JJ
-
just because its bendy doesn't mean its not strong...... look at the wing of an A380 - the tip can deflect up to 7meters they aren't worth the money though Just considering LiPo options and what ESC combo to get (the tamiya ESC won't deal with LiPo so that can go in the beetle with a slightly higher turn motor and just use the NiMh thoughts on these... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-6200mAh-7-4V-2S-40C-Lipo-Battery-Pack-Deans-for-RC-Helicopter-Car-Truck-Hobby-/252526733625?hash=item3acbc42939:g:qJgAAOSwdIFXzUqh JJ

sweet...... i'll save the brushless for my TT02b may add one to the monster beetle too JJ

i find "how much was your hair cut again?" nips that argument in the bud every time my 3 hair cuts a year @ £10 each gives me approx £370 of tamiya credit haha as a back up, i also fixed the washing machine for £10 when it stopped working and she wanted to spend £500 on a new washer dryer, managed to get her DPF to regen and thus saving £1500 at bmw and then I service both cars myself saving £500/yr in the grand scheme of things im up BUT if we need to start getting dirty, i find that taking up smoking and going to the pub every saturday to watch the match is a good threat to have in the back pocket (unless that IS what you actually do haha) JJ -
i want to feel that mechanical speed controller resistor get hot will a mechanical controller take lipo? haha JJ
-
ok so used some ptfe tape as suggested as superglue and threadlock failed after a few mins..... will see how it holds!! fitted the dual blocks and glued - god the grip is pap compared to the standard spikeys!! haha got my yeah racing front mount from oz - has really stabilised the front end (i'm thinking i may have had a fault with it maybe there was a slight issue as the kit isn't set up for the MS and its adjustable top supports so needed to steal some ball mounts off the neo scorcher donor haha JJ
-
thanks JJ

I couldn't hold off any longer.... ...and this ticked all my boxes as a complete retro set!! Now do I run it a bit or love it a lot?? JJ
-

what wheels are these?? was gonna buy an aqroshot but i have a tt02b chassis going spare and the money may be better on doing this.......!! also - when my brushless sensored motor was running the wrong way on my TT02B MS and i swapped the wires it did nothing but shake!! JJ
