Problemchild replied to Rb4276's topic in General discussions
the Yeah Racing stuff is awesome and ships quickly from oz JJ -
i may try some "no nail" the issue isn't the screw loosening - it just gets pulled out servo saver still fitted ordered some df-02 adjustable dampers from fusion hobbies for the TT02b (fronts are on back order though) got my dual block K tyres from RCMart (order and shipped japan to uk in 4 days) hopefully my suspension mount in on way ALMOST bought another NeoScorcher for parts and hop ups but had second thoughts almost bid on a terra scorcher too JJ

hey buddy...... i know how that shell got like that i remember it coming down your street at about a million miles an hour (adjusted for young eyes and inflation) on its roof bouncing off the curbs!! haha remember the days when a main road was an ideal place for 2 young lads to play??? anyway, i know this is a 5yr old thread but really had to catch up and comment - brings back lots of memories JJ

aaaaaaaah - twas a falcon..... not a hotshot! JJ

i never owned a new tamiya.... i was hooked on tamiya when my friend got a monster beetle and brought it to school as a show and tell type thing (c. 1989) so being poor i started with a hotshot (i think) as it defo had the rear engine cage (which i thought was yellow) and the bend up battery holder on the side BUT i don't remember it only having the single front shock. then i sold it and bought a clod buster 4x4x4 and remember having issues with the wheels tearing up the hubs and having to modify them then i eventually sold that and bought a terra scorcher which i fitted a dynatech was may fave model by far but the gear box died so easily then i had a 20yr lay up until i requested my first new kit - lunchbox re-re for xmas and i was like a school boy again JJ

so got the nexxt and it was a fab build for me and my 6yr old he did 90% of it it was different to a atamiya build in a number of ways and the instructions are the megablocks of the lego world (ok but not as good as lego) given it comes with an ESC and motor and screwdriver all for £55 then its great some components pre assembled (gear box and shocks) but the rest is good and the body is superb initial thoughts..... tyres are hard so wheel spin a lot (but can wheelie now i have the sports tuned 540 in) steering is light so understeers (combined with crap tyres) its heavy but seems a tough unit ( the shell screws to the chassis so its v rigid) the ESC has no slow reverse and if you change the end points on the redio gear to say 40% then you lose the breaking BUT - the main thing is he LOVES it fab entry into model RC kits JJ

pop the shocks off and motor cover then you can do the 4 screws each end to remove the diff covers and get access i've just ordered the kyosho nexxt for the little one (he's 6).... £59 inc speed controller and LOADS of cheap parts available on line so thought it was worth it he doesn't care for oil filled shocks or full ball race set so at great pains steered away from a higher spec car (money that i can spend on my set) i'll post a review when it arrives JJ

Just also recheck that your gears are mating properly and that everything is aligned as it should be any slight angle and the gears will get pulled off although is the pinion coming right off and after can it slip back on freely? JJ

959 came with technigold as standard didn't it? i saved up xmas money and birthday money to buy a dyna tech for my terrascorcher - still soooo slow really haha JJ -
just my input i'm running the 02S on an 8.5T speed passion brushless sensored spec sheet states the ESC takes up to 60W which is more than many other ESCs (all it doesn't do it list peak W) Turns can mean varying W rating (depending on material and thickness of wire) so always go on motor wattage otherwise you are comparing apples and oranges I ran the car (just 3300 nimh) on this set up for half hour and ESC gets to 50degC and motor 30degC (just on tamiya battery connectors) agree with the LiPo warners - £4 for 2 off ebay JJ

thanks wonder why modelsport struggle JJ
