  1. oh - thoughts.... when a T rating is given on a BL motor is this referring to the pinion?? JJ
  2. well connectors are only £1 a pair so not an issue is the advise good or not? wink is confusing me haha JJ
  3. how comes? was looking at this brand of BL http://www.modelsport.co.uk/speed-passion-v3.0-competition-bl-13.5t/rc-car-products/36279 JJ
  4. hello all..... given that when i ran tamiya the options were 540 then technigold (£50) then dynatech (£75) this whole brushless malarky is sooo confusing! so i pretty much get the kv then the turns T comes into it (but only sometimes) and although i know what motor turns are i struggle to relate that to speed and power and torque then when i look at the prices and they range from £30 to £150 then ESCs start to come into it and another spanner gets thrown into my valve controlled brain and finally LiPo 2s and 3s start to put things into overdrive haha so my requirement - for my bashing TT02b MS i'd like to get a lovely 50mph ish beastie like this... but without too much into apart from 8.5T LiPo i have no idea haha I have a few ESC 2 x sensored Tamiya ESC (http://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-brushed-brushless-esc-tble-02-sensored/rc-car-products/380755) no LiPo (yet) but been advised that 2s would be fine (i already have 4 x 3300nimh but not sure they will be up to the job of brushless) so some advice/guidance/options would be very much appreciated ta JJ
  5. vid what ESC and brushless are you running?? JJ
  6. well after this arrive (as i wanted a neo scorcher shell and some tyres for the TT02b MS so of course i bought a whole kit for spares) i just had to make it didn't i well it will make a good holder for the spare shell haha JJ
  7. no probs - i run a car forum and people can be put off doing even the simplest things if they can't see how its done i even do guides for changing wiper blades as to some it seems complicated JJ
  8. ok - really need a brushless motor now i still don;'t really understand these motors yet or why there is such a huge variation in price or what my tamiya ESC can handle etc roll on xmas JJ
  9. fitted monster beetle gearbox strengthening mod and new sports tuned 540 then took it and the TT02b MS out in the rain to give them a wash of all the dust they have accumulated recently JJ
  10. arrived today - superb quick guide... really simple little mod remove both rear suspension units at the chassis (put the screw and washer back into the chassis to keep safe) remove the 3 screws each side that hold the rear swing arm in place totally remove both rear swing arms including drive shafts (inc rubber covers) and gearbox joints (BB16 and 17) then unscrew the 3 bolts from around the gearbox/diff housing then offer up the 2 strengthening rings with just 1 tab - they will only go 1 way not.. then you can offer up the 2nd set of strengthening rings with the 3 tabs (you can see here why the washer needs to fit where it does behind the first ring's tab) At the bottom the space is where the rear bumper on the beetle fits washer in place and all first bolt and washers and nut in place when reattaching the rear bumper, as there is no OEM washer between the bumper and the gearbox/diff so i placed the kkit washer between the 2nd strengthening ring and the bumper here it is fitted and the new sports tuned 540 fitted Hope that helps/gives confidence to others Ta JJ
  11. some great blurry photos there looks like a fantastic little boat JJ
  12. thought i'd post up my RR Beetle damage in the month i've been running it..... All street driving so understandable I guess front spot mounting point broken so tie wrapped to the bumper (seems a bit silly having the mounting point as part of the shell) Bonnet damage from a spikey bush (or possible roll) Roof damage from flips Both wing mirrors gone walkabouts Rear boot handle destroyed and covered up with numberplate (now damaged too) Also did a little bit of lightweighting of the heavy glass sunroof (haha) JJ
  13. The issue you are having is the same as me with my 6yr old..... buying something for me and pretending its for him! the nexxt i see as a stepping stone! he will be able to build it himself without the complications of oil filled damper assembly or fiddly diff builds given it only needs me to put one of my radio gear sets in I see it as a total bargain (especially seeing as the 3mph Eearly Learning Centre car he has from grandad was £30) and i think it looks fab and parts are v v v cheap. if you want a great car, my neo scorcher has just arrived...... £75 delivered inc torque tuned motor so pretty nippy how old is your son? JJ
  14. whoop whoop he's been! he's been!! Neo Scorcher shell (plus masses of spares) for the TT02b MS: Monster Beetle gear box strengthening kit: JJ

  19. digging up an old post - is anyone running one of these here? really considering one for my 6yr old for xmas at £50 inc ESC its a real bargain and it looks fantastic and being a simple kit build, it should really suit him thoughts?? JJ
  20. what do people own/have/wear that isn't cars or chargers or LiPo? my fave tamiya t-shirt is my terratag one - had it a while now i'd also really like a beatties bag but they are a tad expensive JJ
