  1. hello all..... given that when i ran tamiya the options were 540 then technigold (£50) then dynatech (£75) this whole brushless malarky is sooo confusing!

so i pretty much get the kv then the turns T comes into it (but only sometimes) and although i know what motor turns are i struggle to relate that to speed and power and torque

then when i look at the prices and they range from £30 to £150

then ESCs start to come into it and another spanner gets thrown into my valve controlled brain

and finally LiPo 2s and 3s start to put things into overdrive ;) haha

so my requirement - for my bashing TT02b MS i'd like to get a lovely 50mph ish beastie like this...

but without too much into apart from 8.5T LiPo i have no idea haha

    I have a few ESC

    2 x sensored Tamiya ESC (http://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-brushed-brushless-esc-tble-02-sensored/rc-car-products/380755

no LiPo (yet) but been advised that 2s would be fine (i already have 4 x 3300nimh but not sure they will be up to the job of brushless)

so some advice/guidance/options would be very much appreciated

  2. arrived today - superb :)

    quick guide...

    really simple little mod

remove both rear suspension units at the chassis (put the screw and washer back into the chassis to keep safe)

remove the 3 screws each side that hold the rear swing arm in place

totally remove both rear swing arms including drive shafts (inc rubber covers) and gearbox joints (BB16 and 17)

then unscrew the 3 bolts from around the gearbox/diff  housing

then offer up the 2 strengthening rings with just 1 tab - they will only go 1 way

    not..

then you can offer up the 2nd set of strengthening rings with the 3 tabs

(you can see here why the washer needs to fit where it does behind the first ring's tab)

At the bottom the space is where the rear bumper on the beetle fits

    washer in place

and all first bolt and washers and nut in place

when reattaching the rear bumper, as there is no OEM washer between the bumper and the gearbox/diff so i placed the kkit washer between the 2nd strengthening ring and the bumper

here it is fitted and the new sports tuned 540 fitted

Hope that helps/gives confidence to others

(seems a bit silly having the mounting point as part of the shell)

  4. The issue you are having is the same as me with my 6yr old..... buying something for me and pretending its for him!

the nexxt i see as a stepping stone! he will be able to build it himself without the complications of oil filled damper assembly or fiddly diff builds

given it only needs me to put one of my radio gear sets in I see it as a total bargain (especially seeing as the 3mph Eearly Learning Centre car he has from grandad was £30) and i think it looks fab and parts are v v v cheap.

if you want a great car, my neo scorcher has just arrived......

£75 delivered inc torque tuned motor so pretty nippy

    how old is your son?

  5. digging up an old post - is anyone running one of these here?

really considering one for my 6yr old for xmas

at £50 inc ESC its a real bargain and it looks fantastic

and being a simple kit build, it should really suit him

    thoughts??
