  1. Body almost finished, painted in ford ivory and Tamiya Smoke on the windows, LEDs to wire up. removed the 'brick' off the front, plate and bumper to sort out next. Wheels will be painted but undecided on colour, probably dark grey or black. anyway, quick teaser pic... comments welcomed....good or bad
  2. Cheers pal! Cheap and easy mod that works well. From memory bits cost about £14 and done 3 chassis..... Cheaper than GPM kit
  3. Built many CC01s and finally got a Land Cruiser 40 and started building last week. on my CC01 discovery thread, I mentioned a rear suspension mod which I have done on this build and here's the detail... make 2 long links with 4mm threaded bar and 2 shorter links with 3mm threaded bar, plastic ends are traxxas rod ends. Inside 6 of the ends are Tamiya ball joints On the rear axle, leave out screw at 4 o clock position and drill with out to 3mm 38mm bolt with 7mm piece of tubing inserted through hole Slide the 2 shorter links with the ball joints over the bolt and add a locking nut Drill 2 holes where marked to take the screw for the upper shock mount (2mm from memory) Fit mounts as shown and attach shocks Remove 1 end of longer link, attach to inner mount, slide on long piece of alu tube, lower shock, short piece of tube, reattach end and fic to axle (repeat for other side) should look like this when you've finished the mod has been done on all my CC01s and makes the rear suspension more 'free' and allows the axle to flex more before the opposite wheel lifts. This is the pic from my disco.. All wheels are in contact with the ground I hope info is clear and if any further info is required feel free to ask More pics of the build will follow
  4. Hello all.. my RC hobby started nearly 30 years ago with the original Rough Rider and through childhood had many originals, fox, hornet and hot shot to name a few. one night reminiscing on Google I read a fellow TCer Mr crispy did a rough rider rebuild on a DT02 chassis and as that's where my hobby began, and prices of the originals are way out my league I'd do similar. if I may at this point say thanks to Mr C for the inspiration..... Used DT02 chassis sourced, kamtec rough rider shell arrived, colour and decals decided, undecided powerplant......period speed or 2016! pics of the build will follow when I can and if nothing else a nice shelfer from what started the hobby!!
  5. Very very nice! Had a lunchbox, sold it and still regret it hope to do another one day good work!
  6. Ha, ha! It's only a matter of time till you give in! Thanks! May end up for sale to make room for another! thanks for all the positive comments
  7. Thanks very much! Well spotted! Yes it does give it a varied look. Thanks for the comments!
  8. Had a Wild Willy 2 which sat on a shelf for ages and decided few months ago to sell it...but no takers... So last weekend stripped it, cleaned it up and repainted it...driver included couple of pics....
  9. Very well put Mad Ax, not done a G6 but been to a great local place with those that have. Part of it is a long trail with a few tricky bits and a bit halfway round that pushes the CC01 to the limit. Like you say, tame with a SCX/vaterra but rewarding when conquered with a CC01 sometimes easy isn't challenging, but conquering challenging with the CC is fun!
  10. Yes a very good question! SCX10 and vaterra are more capable than the CC01, but more expensive. Ladder chassis, central motor with prop shafts to front and rear axles. The Trailfinder 2 similar but with a 2 speed gearbox. Ok...Very much my opinion and may/probably different to others... they (non Tamiya) have better clearance and handle the rough stuff and challenging terrain better than the CC01, and will go places that the CC01 will ground/get stuck. They are also more expensive..eg vaterra kit no electrics £240, trailfinder 2 £400+ (I was lucky and got a used one less than half) my cc01 disco has got most places but does suffer but I see it like this...the others are great will go 'anywhere' (within reason) but the cc01 is 'real ' or scale, it'll go scale places where my 1:1 hilux will and more million dollar question, what I choose?..... without doubt...TF2 for ability, CC01 for scale/fun and budget! if I get chance I will video TF2 and disco over same rough stuff hope this helps and the above is VERY much opinion
  11. CC01s got me started in scale rigs, I have 3 and starting my 7th build! I also have a trailfinder 2, SCX10 and a vaterra but personally think the CC01 is more 'real' the 1060 is a great ESC and drag brake works well, fantastic for the price. ill be posting pics when I start my next cc01 build, the rear suspension mod makes it so much better, far cheaper than the GPM kit
  12. Same model as I had and sold....with HUGE regret! Very rare to find a good one and one at the right price. They are now very sought after...
  13. Thanks for the replies, comments and likes! a lot of people I know don't like the CC01, but I love it and have built quite a few. i have 3 and just bought another so now build no 6! I don't plan on doing a build as there are thread after thread but I will be replacing the dreadful plastic rear links with a cheap DIY fix and a few mods will share pics for those interested?
  14. It looks at its best being driven, built to do just that. Its not happy sitting on a shelf! always cleaned after a good run though! It's a keeper this one
  15. Thanks kirk it's a new bright shell and what got me started scaling. Looking for another but not many around
  16. Thanks! CC01 chassis, rear links replaced with home made steel bar links, brick removed replaced with 'skid plate', 55t crawler motor, quicrun 1060 ESC, both diffs locked
  17. Hello all been in the hobby for many years and joined after rediscovering my Tamiya fetish! thought I'd start by sharing a few pics of my disco thanks for looking
