I've started modding my TLT, with the intention of making a small rock (pebble?) crawler. I've had heaps of RC trucks over the years, but I'm a complete noob as far as crawling goes.
The first mod is a new tread pattern, since I've seen the treads on the http://www.mudcow.com mudcow truck, then I'll be narrowing the wheels, making some new links to lengthen the wheelbase (and increase the ride height a little), tweaking the cantilever positions/lengths and shocks accordingly, and locking the diffs.
I've cut the treads on one tyre and narrowed one wheel so far. I'd like to know if any of you have cut tyres or narrowed wheels, and if so do you put any inserts in to the tyre before gluing it to the wheel?
Another thing:- has anybody got any experience of setting up 4 wheel steering so that you can change between 4WS and crab-steering at the flick of a switch? I know that some people are using 3 channel radio sets for 4WS, but I want to control 4WS or crab-steering on one stick on the transmitter, and be able to switch between the two. I guess that I'll be modifying my 4 channel radio gear.[8)]
