  1. @bartman77sorry, I don't think I was clear iny original post. I don't have these and don't have interest in Kyosho cars of this era. I only pass on the availability of these two buggysin an effort to get a fair offer to the curator of the 1:1 car collection I visited.

They the Gallops, are for sale. I have no idea what a fair offer would look like however. Curious to see any info that people can provide. Are they any good, what is the comparable Tamiya in this era?

  2. I typically don't like to see these kind of posts here but, as these cars are very slightly before my time I am unable to offer advice towards moving them on to someone who needs/will appreciate them.

Admins, please forgive if this is against the rules but in inspecting a dozen vintage Mercedes W116's today, the topic of old school RC cars came up. So, mostly as a solid to the gentleman I met and to our community, I thought it best to share with any of you here who may have interest.

I don't want to be explicitly involved but at the same time I will pass on info and or interest.

Before you ask... Re: other cars, I don't know of any others at this time.

When Tamiya released the first Mini with the smaller wheel arches body, they used the front tires from 43018 QD On-Road Spare Tire Set F&R, the spare tire set for the QD Ferrari F40 and QD Honda NSX

I had the original Mini, m01 back in 1996 maybe, that cars long gone though I do have one new in the attic. If I can get to it without to much effort I will try and compare the bodies between it and one of my later minis. I think I have a few others up there. As long as they aren't still shrink wrapped I would be happy to poke around and report back.

  4. My truck is on my channel, I have xmaxx center driveshafts, 2 silver sport tunes and 3s on 860 esc.

A year ago I had talks with MIP about custom length driveshaftsi have 2 sets, haven't installed them though as the Traxxas units are fairly bulletproof cheap and easy to make fit.

Curious how the Raptor body fits RB.

153 Nespresso pods, cleaned and ready for orange paint.  I think they might work OK without any additional weight, as long as it's not too windy out.  They nest into a single stack about 8" long and will fit in the toolbox.  I think the scale is pretty good too.

Quick easy weight may be to fill with sand and duct tape to seal...thinking out loud

  6. I use Windex same theory though. A bit of hairdryer heat for compound curves helps as well. I did a vid on my Blackfoot body if it helps. See my sig line for channel.

  7. Welcome to the world of Tamiya and kit builds. You should find the instructions to be well written and the car to be a decent performer out of the box. Its a rewarding feeling to build a new kit, which probably has something to do with why I have so many concurrent projects going on.

Manuals are usually available for download on tamiyausa.com

  9. Re: the above, and just to need out a bit... there's a lot more that goes into tire design than simply compound (softness). Things like carcass thickness, foams density (scale air pressure.. ish),tread block size and so on.  Like I said before, this is all just an experiment to see if I can do it with the pourable rubber available.

What about Monster Beetle tyres? Aren't they just BF chevrons with little spikes?

They're also a softer compound if memory serves. I recently got a shore A tester (because I really, really want colored clod tires) for picking compounds and molding my own.

See below a bunch of results of what I had convenient nearby

    Results:. @68 deg ambient

    Stock BF Shore 80

    MB Shore 75

    Stock clod Shore 75

Bruiser clone BF tires Shore 75

    Imex Clod Pullers Shore 55

    RC4wd Mil spec ZXL(X4 compound) Shore 50

    Cc01 option tires Shore 65

JCon GoldYears (Gold compound) Shore 65

Printed OpenRC F1 tires Shore 85 (Ninjaflex TPU) as a control. Tester reads as advertised material specs.

Test procedures are ASTM 2240 if anyone's curious.

  11. @burakol1.9 inches is the size of me and Bus's rim/wheel on the inner bead where the tire would seat.

The tires are made to fit  a 1.9" wheel. The outside diameter or OD is about 110 mm for each of us. If you check the other G601 trucks you will see that they come with 110mm tires from the Lunchbox. Sorry for the mixing of units between imperial and SI but that's just how it seems to be done. I assume because in scale a 1.9" wheel is 19" , likewise m-chassis cars use a 1.5" wheel which is a scale 15" and so on.

The 2.2s tires from the CR01 usually start around 130 mm. I'm using Blackfoot tires on mine which come out to 135mm OD for intance.

Also, you should be measuring the inside of the bead where the tire would seat.

    @Busdriver truck looks great.

  12. Re: the axles on the TR version, I had not considered what the replacement axle may be if omitting the portal. Do the GF01 and non TR G6s use the same TG10 axle(which has been around since what the the TA01)?

I can't imagine the black coating being a different hardness, if anything I would suspect that an oxide coating is cheaper than a chromed finish. Sadly I do not have a hardness tester to compare the two.
